  • Owners of the Ti squares hear “How Much?” Every time you reveal the cost of one. It’s silly for sure, yet we keep buying them. Gotta love squares

    I love these higher end Squares. I can't bring myself to spend $1,700 on a Casio but I have purchased 3 of the half metal GMW-B5000 Squares. I just bought the blue one used for $300 and can't wait for it to arrive. So far my favorite is the silver model.

    I think they are massively overpriced, but you can't deny that they're cool. That's why I can't hate them. They just look darn cool. Realistically they probably should only be $200 more than the steel models, but Casio is going to charge whatever they want, and they're selling out so the pricing strategy is working.

    I prefer a positive display. Negative displays must be the best selling and more popular choice otherwise they wouldn’t be used in so many models. These are beautiful watches and the camo print looks like a work of art.

  • @BatCountryAdventures
    @BatCountryAdventures Před 3 lety +6

    After seeing the dismissive comments, I am starting think that people might be underestimating the costs and performance of DLC. I mean the Sapphire glass and Titanium alone are already a massive mark up on how much it would be to produce but to have decent DLC application will elevate the costs and performance of the watch so much more!
    The truth is the standard G-shock is remarkably resilient but only in its core. The resin bands and bezel still scuffs and rubs and the mineral glass still gets scratched up. The premium essentially the same core toughness and extend that to the exterior of the watch to make it a complete package.
    It's not expensive for expensive sake like some branded Swiss watches with fragile gemstones attached. All the added cost is for better materials and treatment that further the core G-Shock principles.
    Seriously, have a look at some DLC test video. It's incredible technology!

    I’d like to buy one of this seriously since there’s one store that selling it just about USD1000 in my country... but for me, g-shock is identical with sport watch, especially the square ones, which is have to be comfortable enough for rough activity... the steel/titanium bracelet is not comfortable enough compare to rubber strap... so it’s kinda missing the point here...

    Just read an article on Time & Time that may shed some light as to one of the reasons why these are so much more expensive than metal squares:
    "Titanium, being a notoriously difficult metal to machine, required G-Shock to create an entirely separate assembly line as the previous moulds and machines could not be repurposed to fabricate the full metal titanium models."
    So yeah, who knows how much that cost, but I guess there's more to it that just charging more because they can.

    My problem is that I've categorized G-Shocks into a cheap beater watch class. It's what I wear when I'm working on the car or fixing the plumbing. They are already lightweight so I don't see the point in titanium. However I completely understand irrationality when it comes to purchases. I spent over $100 on a freakin' pair of jeans for pete's sake. I'm just as guilty.

Why painting a high quality material, i would rather see and feel the high quality titanium on my wrist. 1500€ is to much for what it is, it doesnt even has an OLED screen but ol' lcd, oled instead would be so much more durable as supposed to be for a gshock. i guess these watches have their rich fanclub to spend $1700 for a gshock, now there are some titanium gshocks for 4500€.

    They are trying to sell you a Tron Model for $800 and it's just a Stainless Steel Watch with a kool laser edged pattern, Which is seriously overpriced for that they are, a $50 Watch with a $750 price markup once they add the stainless steel bracelet, they don't even add Sapphire Crystal at that price. That's insane.
    I actually bought both, the Black Camouflaged and the tron version. Got them both in Mint Condition with all original box and paperwork for $1,300 from Owners who purchased them at full price. I take my time and hunt them down for the right price.
