There are many professional car scanners on the market, but this one is just a little bit special. Not only will it do regular scanning and erasing of the codes, it will also diagnose every single module on your vehicle, show live data, freeze data perform special functions on those modules but also actuate almost anything on your car. ThinkTool Mini is a fully fledged diagnostics device that is full upgradable, customizable and powerful all while being wireless with great battery life capabilities. If you are in a market for a scanner that can also code your vehicle and modify settings you never thought you could modify, look no as you've found it.

You did a great job explaining the tool.
can this retract the brake caliper piston when servicing a vehicle with an electronic parking brake? or do you have to purchase it separately?
So would I have to buy the vehicle diagnostics software to disable single injectors on a 2002 lb7 Duramax to check witch one is knocking? Also does the scanner need WiFi in order to work?
Check out this ABS, SRS scanner with bi-directional functionality I reviewed recently: czcams.com/video/v2NRAaY5MFY/video.html
Thank you guys for watching! I'm really impressed with this diagnostics tool! I never knew I could do so much with my car without having to use BMW software etc. Let me know what else I should review in the future.
*To make it extra clear, to get the coding, special functions and actuation tests you have to purchase the vehicle diagnostics software for $50 a year per vehicle make*. The service functions and other awesome features are available without any payment.
If you were choosing between the Foxwell NT644 Elite you recently reviewed and this one, which would you pick?
@@semiprohooker Both are good scanners.
I like the NT644 because it doesn't HAVE to rely on anything as it has everything build it, but is still updatable. However, it is not upgradable, as in, you cannot add features if it doesn't have it out of the box.
The ThinkTool Min is a little more expensive and does everything the NT644 does out of the box, but for extra $$$ can also become a much more capable diagnostics tool.
So, it really depends on what you are looking for exactly.
Are you going to code with it I would love to see a video of you doing it
Can increase horsepower for any car ...dpf regeneration ...in case of lost key can make new key ...can turn ignition on through this product ....thanks ...please show us how to increase horsepower if you can ...thanks
@@SimpleCarGuy Do you have to pay for software annually on the thinktool or will it still work without paying for software?
Hey! Does this tool support PCM testing? I need to be able to prime aux transmission pump on a 2015 f150! thanks!
Great Video, thank you.
Good video. Thanks for doing it. Can you make one going through all the functions of testing the air conditioning and heating? Resting the blend door or testing the resistance in the heat control, etc?
Can u change the temperature at when your cooling fans kick on?
Can you control you vent valve or other solenoids? Can u also see voltage on each sensor?
Would you able to see a tual odometer on this scanner incase it was tampered? Tnx
Can You Calibrate/Initialize Sensors and Modules with this Tool? Like Steering Angle Sensor
Can u be able to read the ECU airbag module on the bench whit this tool
How did you get the bidirectional, and coding functions? Mine doesn't show what so ever
Can you disable the AFM on GM in the coding section?
how to reset odometer using this tool? is it necessary that you need to be connected to a wifi while doing the job?
How would you compare this to ancel fx9000
Is this able to check if the odometer mileage is tampered with? Can I retrieve the true mileage of the car with this scanner? Thanks.
Does it work on Santa fr diesel 2002 and above
Hello, I have the same device that I bought several days ago, and my question is: Can I update and download updates on an external memory card such as a USB flash drive, and what is the method? Thank you
I haven't seen that option, so I can't confirm. It worked really well and fast on WiFi through the device, though. I would check with the support, they respond pretty quick.
@@SimpleCarGuy thanks
really good video, Thanks a lot. Do you know if I can perfom a "zero point calibration" with this scanner ?
Thank you !
Thank you! I'm not sure what zero point calibration is exactly, but this has (SAS) Reset: Steering angle sensor calibration which I think is the same thing.
hi, what is the better scanner thinktool mini or thinkscan max? I only need full system scan and the 28 Reset Functions
That's a good questions. I haven't used the Max, so I can't say for sure, but they are very similar in functions. If that's all you need, you can get either one and youll be happy.
I don't know if it's because this video is a year old and things changed, but actuation tests are not free and require the 50 dollar per year per brand just like the coding features. You had mentioned in your video one does not need to pay extra for actuation but we do now.
Hi. Can you make a tutorial on how to add a new key using this tool?
Can this device read/scan a body control module (BCM) on a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee? If so, would the $50 yearly fee be needed to get this feature?
It should scan the BCM
Hi do you know what the SD card slot if for on the rear. Or is it a sim card slot many thanks
It looks like a SIM card and since this is an expandable/modular scanner, I'm sure you can add a data line for when you are working remotely and don't have WiFi (although it is not need for most functions). I'd ask on amazon's product page to confirm with the seller.
Great video! 2 years later and yes! they made some changes. One thing I noticed , IMMO, is in there working good. The cheaper Think scanner bluetooth cannot compare with this year offer,2023, Lifetime free updates. You do have to purchase your specific vehicle make for $50 per car. But thats fine if you charge it to the patron your serving. I am not promoting Amazon but if you apply for their credit card that you dont have to use you get $200 off, plus additional $60 coupon. after taxes and free shipping it down to $185.00
I'd love to see a video of how this works
Hello. Subscribed to your channel & Liked the video. Thanks for the info. I got a Thinktool Scanner ... I wanted to watch live data of the High Voltage (HV) battery on hybrids & electric vehicles, but I don't know how.. can you help, please?
Subscribed! Great videos
Will this allow you to check windows and fuel pump and door locks and or ecm reset?
Yes, there is a function for window regulators and fuel pump, not sure what check you would do on the door locks but you can read any available module on the car, clear the codes and see live data.
Can we change milage in the car with it?
Ok can the vci interface serve as a passthrough divice (j2534)
I don't know, sorry! I don't want to give you wrong answers. I'd check with the manufacturer to be sure.
I read thr features about odo meter reset. Is it possible to adjust the odometer of the vehicle like ford? Thanks
I haven't tried it on a Ford, so I can't say for sure. It will not adjust mileage on BMW, but it will register a new cluster to the same mileage.
So after a year of use how’s it holding up I’m debating on picking one up but being in the professional field I know the Launch and Autel scanners are pretty much are go to options if your not talking tool truck prices. Not trying to break the bank on a scanner I’ll use for home use though.
It’s my favorite scanner. I’m not a tech, so I only use it here and there, but I have tested 10-15 other scanners since then I’ve sold most of the other ones.
Coding video please.. great video btw
How check for sensors for gear change
Does it have misfire data? Like showing which cylinder is misfiring? Like the diagun x431?
Of course, I think that's a very basic function.
Hi, does it do gear learning on a Smart Fortwo 451?
I wouldn't know for sure. I suggest asking this question on the Amazon product page.
have you tried to recalibrate a module or sensor?
Hi when purchase online coding for vw can I programme like dealer level for example key radar sensor programming thanks
I haven't worked with VW, but on BMW it does unlock programming for pretty much anything you can think of as far as special functions etc. I'd check with the company's support to be 100% sure before spending the money.
Every manufacturer is different, by law all they have to sell are emissions related programming, but many give you all capabilities.
Nice review! Have you tried programming keys using this scan tool? Have you been successful?
Does not program Keys for a Corvette, only two options listed for GM and I think they were both euro models.
I have a 2018 VW atlas, dodge ram and toyota, but work on most of my family cars. So I want a do it all device without breaking the bank.
Live data , codes, brake bleeding, transmission codes, some cars have lane assist so something for that.
Besides this scanner what are the comparable competitors that can do all that?
This will do a lot of functions out of the box, but do remember that you have to pay the $50 fee per make of car for advanced features. As far as capabilities; though, you can't really beat this. I haven't haven't tried many other professional scanners, but the ones I liked I have reviews of on my channel. One that you might want to also check out is Foxwell nt644.
@@SimpleCarGuy just saw that one as well. Do I pay for each car as well on that one?
No, there is no extra to pay on that one, but it also doesn’t have stuff like programming, or actuation testing etc. really just depends on how advanced of a device you need.
@@SimpleCarGuy
Your channel is awesome 👍.
Have you tested the ancel fx9000?
Would that be better than the 644?
Thank you! I haven’t tested that one yet, but maybe in the future!
Can i coding ekp new modul on my BMW ? With this diagnostic
I don’t believe it can do that kind of coding or least I haven’t seen that option.
Hello, can the device turn off the airbag bulb?
Thanks
Yes, it can.
@@SimpleCarGuy
Thanks🌷❤️🌷
More coding abilities would be nice. Thanks
What kind of coding are you looking for? I thought it had pretty much anything, but I haven't used many others that code.
Does this require a constant connection to the internet in order to function properly?
It does not. You need internet for updates and if you want QR codes generation for your reports or emailing them etc.
Nice little tool, not sure I need a 5th scanner, but i’ll never say never. haha
Tell me about it!! I’m at like 7 now :)
@@SimpleCarGuy SO OUT OF YOUR 7 SCANNERS, AND YOUR 4 SCANNERS JIMMY, WHAT IS YOUR TOP CHOICE IN THIS SAME PRICE RANGE. IVE BEEN LOOKING AT THE ANCEL A7 AND ONE OF THESE THINKTOOLS WETHER IT BE MINI OR ONE OF THE TABS
Does it need wifi to work?
This thing is bad ass!!! Can you actuate egr valve?
It sure is badass! If the module allows it, you can actuate it. Obviously, it would depend on the car.
Can I turn on the ac compresor with this?? Thanks
I have not seen that option on my BMWs, but I have turned on the fan, fuel pump, water pump etc. Doesn't the AC Compressor work off a clutch to the serpentine belt?
Does this tool get lifetime free updates?
Is this a friendly helpful bidirectional scanner or do you know of a simpler one with the same features .? Also I don't understand if it gets free updates what does it ask you to pay $49 for? I am new to the scanner scene.
This one is pretty simple to use, but it does have a lot of features. You pay $50 for the make of the car per year and it opens all features for all BMW as an example. You can use it without paying, but you won’t have programming and actuation tests. The other one that kind of bi-directional is foxwell nt644 that I have a review of on my channel, but it’s limited in options compared to this one.
@@SimpleCarGuy Do you have to pay to use the bidirectional feature? Thank U 4 UR quick replies.
@@ToyForIt_1 Which features are you looking for exactly? If you mean Bi-Directional (Activation Test) + ECU Coding then yes, you have to pay $50 a year per brand (like BMW or Honda or Toyota etc.).
@@SimpleCarGuy if you dont pay its just a full system scanner and not bidirectional?
Pretty much with 28 service functions.
Up to what present car year model can this scanner be compatible?
I’m not 100% sure, but it gets updates frequently, so they add new models and years. I’d check on the Amazon link q/a or check with the company directly.
@@SimpleCarGuy thanks for the reply
Can it be used through bluetooth and can it program the tire pressure sensor?
The scanner has bluetooth built in, but I'm not really sure what's it used for. It does have a functions to program tire pressure sensors (TPMS).
@@SimpleCarGuy It can link to the battery module and i think the printer also. Will have to check
@@SimpleCarGuy
I thought that you can only reset the TPMS
Hello, my friend, please, I want an explicit answer. Is this tool better than Outel and Lanch Does it provide better and stronger options for most cars. Is it quick to deal with the car. thanks
Hello,
I don't know if it's better than the Autel or Lanch as I haven't used their full diagnostics scanners. This one seems to have the best support as far as makes and models of different cars when comparing to Autel. Yes, it is very fast connecting to cars and pulling data from the car, much faster than my previous scanners (you can see what other scanners I have in my videos).
Thanks for watching.
Yes, better. Considering the all free 28 service reset functions, free all system diagnostic, and subscription opotion for Active test and ECU coding , and the subscription fees is so much lower than other product. Besides it use their own designed bluetooth, cordless operation, cool.
I watched both videos and I have a question: Foxwell NT644 or Thinktool Mini?
@SimpleCarGuy Same Question.
It really depends on what you are looking for. I’d probably go with the thinktool even if you want be purchasing the additional functionality. It’s wireless, touchscreen, has about the same special functions and you can access individual modules and live data on both. In addition to that, you can also purchase all those additional features if you need them at some point on the Thinktool. The only reason I’d pick foxwell would be if you don’t want to mess around with Android based systems and prefer not to have to charge your scanner.
@@SimpleCarGuy very good. Thank you for the feedback :)
This is way better than NT644
Would this do modules coding/programming ?
He doesn’t know obviously but yes it has programming ability.
what languages are available?
Hello. If the device does not read the car’s body number even though it is connected to Bluetooth, where is the problem? Thanks
Not really sure, I haven’t had a problem like that. Is the bluetooth turned on? I would check that first. It should beep when it connects the tablet to the device you plug into the OBD2 port.
@@SimpleCarGuy
Yes, indeed, a beep sounds, but the body does not read. Then I am asked to write the body number manually.
Thanks
I assume you are talking about the VIN identification. Have you tried just selecting the make and model of the car to see if it communicates with the car at all? If not, I would reset the device in options and install the latest updates to make sure you are running the latest version. Otherwise, you may need to contact their support.
Run the "firmware fix" available in the settings -I had the same issue, this will patch the firmware and auto detection of the VIN will work fine !
How much are the measurements of this tool, friend? I saw it connected through a cable in the car not Bluetooth
The screen is 6 inches and it was completely wireless in the car. No cables.
@@SimpleCarGuy thanks my friend 🌹
I got one of them, you could basically Diagnose the car but Actuation test and Special functions need yearly payment per Manufacturer per year.....
can it do 24vdc vehicles as well?
I don't see it mentioned anywhere, so I would have to assume that's a no.
Good
The 50$ per year do they expire after 1 years or stay on it
I believe they expire after a year.
whats the difference between this and the thinkscan max?
That's a good question. I don't have one to compare directly and I can't clearly see from the Amazon page. Probably a good question to ask on their product page.
Max has still a lot of different + function here in mini,
But mini is impressive, it's expandable functionalities are awesome .
Can it deactivate a factory installed alarm?
I don’t think so, I’ve never seen that option in any scanner I’ve used. Unless, it can be coded out.
Any difference between thinkscan max and Mini?.Thank u.
It's pretty much the same tool as far as standard functionality. However, the Thinktool Mini supports expansion modules such as thermal cameras, printers, etc.
Wow really, thermal scanner is monster rate for this, i think it has also a mini cam tube.
In future videos regarding this scanner can you show what coding is available on a 2012 Chevy Cruze.
Thx.
Hi, does it support programming keys without purchasing a device? Thanks
I don't believe it will program blank keys, at least not on BMWs. It can re-assign keys, though.
@@SimpleCarGuy Thanks
Mohamad Sweed was you able to program a blank key?
Have you already get into coding vids Bro?
Hi... I got one thinktool mini.. I wanted to reset my toyota hilux immobilizer, but I don't know how.. can you help?
What do you mean exactly reset? What are you trying to do?
@@SimpleCarGuy immobilizer locked.. I can't start my hilux..
I’m not familiar with the process, but are you able to read that module and clear all the codes out of it? It also has the immobilizer functions, but that’s for setting up keys as far as I remember
@@SimpleCarGuy I can't clear the fault code..
Work in honda civic 2004? Thanks
Yes, it will work, but I have no idea if those cars even had multiple modules and what you’ll be able to see. You will definitely be able to perform more basic tasks, though.
Can the device read a Body Control Module?
Yes, it sure can
I see you have a wi-fi is this required to be hooked up to the wi-fi to work.
No, its not needed to work. It’s used to create reports and QR codes and for updates.
I want to buy one of these. I have a workshop. Can you give me advice? Is this a good tool? Thank you for everything
It’s a great tool out of the box, but do release that it costs $50 a year per vehicle make to get advanced features other than the 20+ special functions. If that’s not a problem, you can let go wrong. It can do pretty much everything I can think of a diagnostics tool should do.
@@SimpleCarGuy thanks my friend 🌹
I got the Max Pro and it works really well
Think tool max is might you need bro.
But this scan tool is really great with expandable features.
Can it replace a Ford pcm online?
I"m not familiar with Ford stuff, so I can't say for sure. Is that like a special function or coding or?
Can you program new tpms sensors and read transmission temp? Thanks
I think for TPMS is only reset. As for tranny, only diagnose
If you pay the $50 for the diagnostic software would it allow you to program the ECU on a car?
That's correct. It opens the options for coding, actuation testing, more test functions etc.
Can make vids for odometer? Thanks
What would you like to see specifically? I can definitely look into making a quick video.
On what car brand/model available? And how it works thankyou! Looking forward
Hi sir. Can I change the mileage in the ODO menu?
Yes for some makes and modles..
When you use a obd scanner you can see the true mileage,
If your trying to replace the hud for the odometer, then no
Not even dealerships can do that(aka illegal)
@@Spike_-rx7bx
Actually I saw that some scanners can, but for some cars
@@Manowar68 it can be done but its illegal
This scan tool wont do it
@@Spike_-rx7bx
Of course illegal. Otherwise all used cars would be way under mileage
Hey where is the obd cable?
It’s wireless
I bought this tool about a year ago. Worked fine untill recently, the dongle failed to connect! I got a new dongle and after a few times using it, the same problem occured!! I have some BIG issues with their "technical support". After my thinktool Mini dongle failed. They keep asking me for screenshots and video's, which I provided, but still after a month!! corresponding untill now, they haven't provide me with any solution yet. They persist they need a screenshot/video of an error message that only occured once before it failed completely. And I'm not filming every time I use my scantool, so I wasn't able to capture that one moment.... I sent a video already twice of what's happening now when I try to connect. Explained many times, step by step what exactly happened... But they keep going in circles, asking me the same questions again and again! And this is already going on now for a month!!!! Very very frustrating! Support is useless!! I will share this bad experience on every platform possible. So people who are concidering buying a thinktool: think twice!
Hey were you able to fix the dongle problem. Amazon has this on sale for $310. Can't beat that price, but your comment worries me about horrible support.
@@jtmoney091 We're at the stage where I sent back the second broken dongle for them to scrutinize what's gone wrong with it and they are sending me a new one, free of charge. In the mean time I have activated a third dongle I still had as a back-up (visionary as I am) and been diagnosing some cars with it succesfully, without any issues. I have this scantool for a year now and used it intensely. And it's very good at what it does, I'm really pleased with it and the fact you can choose which brand specific functions you want to pay for, instead of paying the whole lot and only use a few of them. The only issues I encountered was one time they were doing server maintenance and that caused some trouble with my paid subscriptions and history (took about a week). And now the dongle issue. And I hate to go this way, using social media to draw attention, but after a month going back and forward in emails, not being able to use my scantool, this is unfortunately the only way to get things done nowadays... . I hope my 'testimony' will help you in your decision making.
please my thinktool mini is showing me T-Code please can you help me through this
I'm not sure what T-Code is, I would contact their support, they are quick and very helpful.
Sure, their support team are unique and reliable. Thanks for your information. Peace ✌️
Do you need to purchase the bi-directional features or is just for the coding?
Yes, the bi-directional features are paid.
For both
Do you have to purchase extra features all manufacturers
It's $50 per manufacturer per year.
@@SimpleCarGuy so will all the features work up to the year of purchase (eg. 2021) or you still have to buy it for each manufacturer??

Yes, it can graph live data streams.
How many live graph data is allowed, four or 3?
We can use with out wifi?
Yes, you can!
Does it show live data?
Yes, it does.
What about a misfire y can read a misfire?
Depends what you mean by reading a misfire. If there is a code on any of the modules, it will show it. You can also look at the live data via OBD2 protocol or directly on the engine module itself.
wt other scanner you would recommend other than this like foxwell , ANCEL bm700 etc ?

USB-C or USB Micro?
What's really cool about this are the expandable functions, thanks for sharing.
Should we pay that added 2 function Ecu codes and Actuation test

$50 for each car for 1 Year ( Enhanced functions ) but Basic scan functions are free..

DO YOU HAVE TO PAY £50 FOR EVERY MANUFACTURER
Yes, you have to pay $50 a year per manufacturer, but there are some exceptions. As an example, BMW, Mini and Rolls Roy’s are all under one.
