      Hi! The autovin function is able to read the VIN so that part works however as you saw on the video it does not let you access the vehicle via it, same with typing the Vin, the device will recognize it but it will not take you the next step if the module has expired. Use the history function I showed on the video to access the manufacturer module. Cheers!

      @@AlexAutoFun Hi there Alex, yes I’ve seen the videos. And again excellent explanation. You explain things very well, a natural gift I guess.
      I wonder, can you recommend any Bi-Directional scan tools that allows you to keep the software’s and its functionality. Keep meaning, everything is there to use from before your update expiry date, but you can’t get any future updates. Meaning, I’m happy not to get any future updates as long as the scan tool works for whatever it worked before the expiry date, in the year I bought the diagnostic tool.
      I do have a Delphi setup that allows access to most vehicle software’s from my purchase date, which was in 2017, so basically it can’t read and access later vehicle models after 2017.

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  Před měsícem +1

      @@WhiteDoveEngland Thank you White, I appreciate that! Both the Thinkdiag and Thinkdiag 2 will allow you to keep using them (again without updates after the expiration). However remember the Thinkdiag locks to the first vehicle make selected, so the advanced functions only work on that vehicle make (normal OBD2 functions function for all vehicles) Here is a good choice if you want to work on multiple vehicles makes czcams.com/video/XtsESLy9Zmo/video.html and here is another one that included free lifetime updates czcams.com/video/f-YQNNG-Wt8/video.html if you only need it for subset of vehicles makes and another with free lifetime updates czcams.com/video/G1df-U6CW5A/video.html Cheers!

    Hi Everybody! The Thinkdiag just got an update, it now comes in a "All Software" Version and a "Single Software" version. Link to the scanner in the video description. The Single version is the one shown on this video, it supports many makes and models but it will be limited to One Make once you start using it just like shown on the video. The "All Software" allows you diagnose all Makes (so it does not limit itself to one Make only), based on what I'm hearing it's possible the "Single" version will eventually be discontinued and the "All Software" version will be the only one available, if that does happen, I will update this comment. Cheers!

    Seems like it would be cheaper to just buy a new one with the 1 year free full access. If i use this device on 3 different car brands after the 1 year.. I would have to pay more than the original price i paid for the device.

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Hi Conker! Yes It probably would if you need special functions for all 3 cars (remember standard diagnostics remain functional for all cars after the expiration date). But I do recommend for folks looking to work on multiple cars to get their larger scanner here amzn.to/467Lmwl that will support them without the limits of the ThinkDiag (since it's really meant to be a budget scanner) In the end I think the larger screen, additional features make sense to skip the smaller Thinkdiag for those working on several cars. I cover this in more detail in my original review czcams.com/video/Yy21TsscA_c/video.html And I have more scanner reviews on my channel in the playlist "OBD2 Scanner Reviews" if you like to compare them. Cheers!

      @AlexAutoFun  Před 3 měsíci

      Hi Edward! Clearing DTC's works past the the expiration date. However keep in mind that in some cases a DTC cannot be cleared if the vehicle has not been fixed (or sometimes it will only clear for a bit before returning). If you are still having trouble I would also recommend contacting for Thinkcar tech support, they may be able to walk you thru some troubleshooting steps. And please keep us posted on your findings. Cheers!

You can also renew using the ThinkStore option (the 2nd icon on the bottom that looks like shopping cart) Cheers!

    I found that renewing costs as much as a new tool. So I got a new tool that included a tpms tool subscription and a new full featured think tool. To me that really stinks because I'm not a mechanic. I just happen to need to scan more than one car and many different vehicles codes.

    • @AlexAutoFun
      @AlexAutoFun  Před 3 měsíci

      Hi Federico! Yes, if you need to scan multiple vehicles (advanced diagnostics, TCM, ABS, IMMO, BMS etc.) then a different tool makes more sense from a cost stand point. But if you only need to scan (basic OBD2 diagnostics, live data, DTC's, IM status, etc) the Thikdiag can still do this for multiple vehicles (in addition the 1 vehicle of choice for advanced diagnostics). So you want to consider the number of vehicles you need to access and the level of access you need have to decide if the Thinkdiag makes sense for you or not. Same with renewing the tool, it's really only needed if you need updates which as explained on this video, not all folks may need (and in those cases you can save money by not renewing) And here is my full review where I cover this and the rest of it's features czcams.com/video/Yy21TsscA_c/video.html Cheers!

      @@miguelarmenta5703 Hi Miguel! Their tech support cant even properly read emails taking in only what suits them. These units are complete rubbish if you need teck support or anything complicated.

    I used mine consistently on a daily basis for a year. Then subscription ended i renewed and continue to use it daily. I chose the all makes and models subscription since day 1 and has never failed to work. Its almost comical when i see other techs with their snap on scanner not be able to connect to a car cuz theirs is outdated and costs big chunk of money to update each time. I press one button at no cost and mines updated and reads the car they couldn't.along with having all bidirectional scan tool functionality as a high dollar scan tool .Have used to pull door keypad codes on fords, used for programable module installation process, and manually changed tpms sensor ids along with other special functions as well
