- It's the final day of September Pies!!!!! Everyone weighed in on the community page and Pecan pie had the most support so that is what we made! This was a pie I was avoiding because I hadn't ever liked a pecan pie I had tasted. Come watch me make one and see if this pie changes my mind!

Yesterday my husband and I were eating lunch at Chick-fil-A in Orem, Utah! I started noticing the young man bringing out people’s orders looked a lot like Daniel! When he worked there years ago when your family lived here in Utah, I saw him working there too, but wasn’t sure it was him until you mentioned on your video he had started working there! Well, when I saw him there yesterday I tried to see his name tag and it said Daniel! I called his name when he walked by me again and he answered, “Can I help you?” I asked him if he was Daniel Knorpp and he said he was! I told him how much I have enjoyed following his family on CZcams from the beginning years ago! I told him I was enjoying September Pies and he was sad he only was able to enjoy them the first two weeks since he had left for Utah to attend UVU! I told him I would send this message to his Mom and tell her what an awesome young man he is! You can be very proud of him! And my Dad’s favorite pie was Pecan Pie! My husbands too! 😅

I too feel sad pie month is over. I enjoyed all the opinions, the eloquent Andrew’s, the cut to the point Pearl’s, the always cheerful Esther’s, the honest faces of the younger ones all and of course Mike’s face, who could eat pies everyday of his life and apparently never get it all over his face!
Yay, you combined maple syrup and honey👍🏼 instead of using corn syrup (I believe leaves an aftertaste😝). This is definitely a Christmas favorite.
I’m going to miss the amazing editing as much as the amazing pies.
An idea for some merch:
Take a poll on the top 12 pies, turn in to a pie calendar for 2023. Each month features a picture of a pie, the recipe and a few comments from the family about that pie.
Bravo! Thank you Knorpp fam for your generosity, wit and fun this month! It’s was joyful! And kudos to the filming/editing! Where did you place the camera while baking? I think you’re super talented and could get a show about feeding nine precious children-you make it look effortless.

I have never tried a pecan pie before because I haven’t been able to get past the look of the gel stuff. Though, Pecans are my favorite nut. After seeing this, I might just have to try and make one myself. Thanks for the pie inspirations you’ve put forth. I’ve been enjoying them so much, and remembering how much joy can come from creating in the kitchen for the family. God bless!
This was a fabulous idea. I so looked forward to every pie. I don't follow any blog as closely as I did this one this month. Every pie, every day all month. What a treat this has been. Tops for me was the cranberry pie, cinnamon pie, squash pie, and Irish potato pie. I loved them all. Although I did agree that pecan would not of been my choice for the exact reason you stated Megan, the gelatinous texture of purchased pecan pie. It was not ever in our family pie rotation. One you did not make was a green tomato mincemeat pie my gram made at Thanksgiving. She made the green tomato mincemeat herself. It tastes nothing like the oversweet Jared mincemeat available now. Your kids will remember this month, for the great pies and the family gathering every nite. This was so well done and warmed my heart every nite. Thank you.
I've noticed that Mike always closes his eyes on the first bite too. Lol Cool idea and awesome month of pies!
September FLEW by and I truly believe that having so much fun watching these daily pie videos had something to do with that. I am sad that it has come to an end. I admire your dedication to this, Thank you for sharing it with us and I hope you do it again next year.
Bravo on all of your pies and making a lard crust! As a true born southerner I gasped when you put in the cinnamon and used a recipe from NewYork. Then I realized there is southern pecan pie and northern pecan pie, nether better just different. Again, bravo!😊

So happy you "found" lard crust - it really is the best! My mom always used it, although our lard was made from beef tallow, not pork fat. Kudos for September Pies! My favorite desert & one-dish style meals, & as I said before, "In heaven, there is pie every day!" Thanks for giving us a little bit of heaven this month!

Just am awesome month of pies! Sad to see it end...I watched and have many recipes from you to use for my family. Thank you...please consider more types of videos like these...you and your family are precious.
I love pecan pie also and for a store bought Costco is the best. It is a great pie after a Mexican meal like enchiladas. I have never used cinnamon or browned butter so this one is much different. The recipe I have used for years is Ann Landers recipe. I cut it from her column many many years ago. Thanks for this month of pies.

My grandmother only made lard crust. She would put cinnamon and sugar on the leftover pieces of crust it was a treat.

I liked watching September pies! I learned a lot.
A Canadian tradition is making Butter Tarts for Christmas. Seeing that you enjoyed the Pecan Pie, maybe try the butter tarts. I'm sure the family would be sold on them. Even Santa loves them! When I make them (hubby's fav), I add raisins and chopped walnuts.
Our family favorite! Homemade is the secret; I don't like grocery store pecan pie. This season I'm making it with the Lard Crust. I tried it and LOVED it and it came out crusty/flaky! Megan, that's how I eat pie, in small slices!! But, only one piece of the pie!

I haven’t been a fan of pecan pie or using corn syrup. My husband loves it though! My mom shared a quick recipe using caramel sauce that I have made for him, salted caramel sauce, even better!
From scratch is as elevated as you can get, so I’m definitely trying this. I love that it uses maple syrup and honey. 👍

I truly enjoyed pie month! Thank you so much. :). You should try chocolate pecan pie ( not with chocolate chips though!)-It is phenomenal. I need to look for the recipe again. It used Hershey chocolate bars so it melted through the whole pie. What a fun month for us - alot of work for you. But your family was able to reap the rewards. 😂

Hi Ryan's mom Sam here.... last pie but it looked amazing again Megan 😀👍 on the subject of *Lard* (again I'm British and was born in the sixties😁) and we used Lard all the time in pie crusts especially when make *Flakey Pastry * we also use it to cook Yorkshire Puddings and roast potatoes 😁 looking forward to October Soups 👍😁😀

I think Andrew might be right. I am over 60 and love butter pecan ice cream, almond joy candy, and pecan pie.
I have only ever made lard pie crust. My grandma taught me when I was a teenager. If done right it should be light and flaky. So yummy. Great job on all your pies. There are a few new types of pastry I would like to try after watching you this month.
I prefer pecan pie when it’s chilled. Yum!
