I cannot believe how Ed O'Neill and Sofia Vergara didn't win an Emmy for their performances on the show. Some of the cast members have won twice, which they deserve, but it makes me sad that they didn't win since their performances were amazing

It's not that unbelievable since that's what American shows usually do, they don't exactly have a history of true and respectful portrayals of foreign people and accents.

Dina M Nope, it sure isn't impossible. It all depends on personal habits. The more she speaks Spanish, the less her English will improve. This is a known phenomenon.
@@dangraphic Her husband is not spanish though, so it means she speaks most of the time english with him when they are at home.
in older advertisments her accent was never this exteme, so she actually does fake it in real life because that accent is a money maker & her image.

That's kinda bad for the actress, means she isn't acting which is bad since she's an actress and gets paid to act like she's not acting but is in fact, acting.
KarinMozina Not in the acting world it's not, but i'm pretty sure she can act differently if she wants to, some actors and actresses can't and that's bad for their career because they're stuck playing the same thing over and over again. ( Oh btw, I love Slovenia!)
When she's not portrayed as a fiery Latina by the English speaking media, because essentially that was the basis for image rep. She's pretty calm and very mild-mannered on her Spanish interviews. However I would like to see her be placed in a role where her background doesn't orbit around her ethnicity like in modern family. She's a sweet woman and if she worked on her " English Accent" ( the one where she worked with Ellen) I think it could help her be more flexible to future roles. I'm not bashing on Latinos or anything ( I'm one as well) but Hollywood is rather strict with its tropes.

That's true! But take Johnny Depp for example, he can play many different characters and he is a great actor. Michael Cera on the other hand is a good actor but is always Michael Cera in every movie lol I respect actors who change according to their roles, for me that's talent :) I was a bit dissapointed when i found out that Gloria is a caricature of Sofia Vergara because it requires a lot less talent.
I have'nt seen any clip of Sofia Vergera and not see people laughing hard.

Props to the director because when you watch how he connects the pieces together every episode its just mind blowing how he does it. Like the episode where Cam and Mitchel propose to eachother. Who would have thought of that? THIS GUY.

It's the writers, producers, and show runners deliver that. Not so much the directors in the TV world.
Modern family has had countless directors over the years.
I love Sofia for her honesty and the fact she can laugh at herself.

I figured that ed probably genuinely liked Stella (bridget) because in the show the way he looks at her is entirely genuine and not acting. SHe's so stinking cute!
They all have such a great chemistry, it's very easy to believe them when they're saying their lines. I mean, they're all good actors, but aside from that, they all get along really well. They're easy to watch, it's such a very well glued cast

I want you to set aside your sexist mindset for a month and watch how women treat men. Women touch men, grab them, and do all sorts of inappropriate things.
There is no doubt that everyone should treat everyone with respect, but they don't. So, you need to start praising the people who do right, rather than crapping on people who praise the good guys.

I agree with you; Hollywood is watched from everywhere in the world, but if you're not from the US/Canada/UK/Aus, it is so rare you see someone from your country achieve the glamorous level of success that Vergara has in Hollywood. So to a Colombian person, she is a de facto representative of the entire country, culture, language, etc., and everyone is going to have their say about how well or poorly she represents the country. The good thing is Vergara doesn't seem to be perturbed by that.
It is so funny to see how Sofia and Ed talk with each other full of sympathy if you compare it with the way how Amanda and Ed talk about each other ... :-)

I'm a black South African and we have the same relationship with dogs. People have become more Westernised now in the suburbs but that's how we grew up in the village & townships. Our dogs at home don't even try to enter the house because they know their place is outside. I too cannot understand the hugging and kissing of dogs haha it's just too much.

@@hdog24 All animals are like that if you domesticate them. Even cows & lambs are loving creatures like that but your folks eat them. And then judge the chinese for eating dogs. The west is messed up. They will let dogs & cats in their bed but kick their own children out. I feel bad for little kids who have to sleep alone in a room down the hall.

Originally the titles for this batch of Modern Family videos were cryptic file names that did nothing to mention the show or what it was about. This is what these two month old comments were about. They have since fixed the titles.
