    One of my favorite moments is when Jay learns some Spanish after Gloria complains about not having anyone in her own house to speak Spanish with. He tries real hard to say something nice in Spanish and she just cracks up and says "Finally, you sound like the stupid one!!" Multilingual people deserve so much more respect than they get.

    I love how she always handles how people turn everything she says into something sexual. That women knows herself really well. She is totally aware of how people perceive her & react to her. So she is able to ride their projections with grace & laughter. Never missing a bit or act offended, making the whole thing a pure comedic delight. She is a real personification of "what matters is how one reacts to things". I want to cultivate that. I want to become like her, because I tend to freeze when I make mistakes or when people get me wrong.

    • @SLOBeachboy
      @SLOBeachboy Před 5 lety +22

      End Is Near Y'all - - It’s not “sexualizing”, it’s called having a sense of humor - something which you are obviously seriously in need of. Speaking of which, I’m guessing that you don’t care for their show Modern Family either, since the writers are constantly using awkward and unwitting double entendres or comically poor word choices in the show for humor - probably more than in any other current American TV show. And although they have written these types of lines for Phil, Claire, Gloria, and other cast members, most of these types of lines by far are written for Cam. For example, when Cam was putting on the school play and he talked about how he “Sondheimized” the kids (sounds like sodomized) and his mortified partner, Mitch, had to point out that he should probably word that in a different way. Anyway these types of situations are always hilarious on the show. Although, being an uptight prude yourself I would imagine that you do not find these sorts of things funny at all.
      By the way, Sohpia probably has a better sense of humor than anyone in the cast and she is often making fun of these same types of things. In fact, as a gag in interviews she often purposely throws things out there knowing that they will be taking to mean something else (often something of a sexual nature). She is after all a real pro at this type of comedy (even though in this particular case it was not on purpose and she did not pick up on it right away). And she is certainly no goody-two-shoes. In fact, when on the Jimmy Kimmel Show she read a “mean tweet” which said that she “talks like she has a dick in her mouth” to which she replied “what’s wrong with having a dick in my mouth”.

Really feel like this shouldn’t have been a funny clip because she is truly trying to describe a very real struggle. And this is why people go through the whole grueling process of eliminating their accent because a lot of Americans sort of live in a bubble and when confronted with English that is foreign and not American sounding, they are not prepared for it. It's like asking, "Have you ever thought about getting a tattoo?" It's not saying she should, it's strictly asking if she ever thought like maybe she wanted to. And if Sofia wanted to fix her accent because she finds it annoying, that's her choice too, and it's not wrong either. I'm not saying that her accent is wrong, I'm just saying that it's all up to her. The person was just asking if Sofia ever thought to.

She knows these men are childish enough to get kicks out of her accent and graceful and clever as she is, she makes it her USP that anything she says is going to get sexualized, so why the hell, not make money out of it; if all it takes for those dumbos to crack up is to roll her 'tong' in a certain way. She is an actOR. Not an actIVIST. She is no more responsible for changing the stereotypes of Latina women than you or me. Take a break. Enjoy her existence if you can. I came like this 20 years ago and run into disapproval of surrounding so much, that I learned how to come myself down to the point of loosing that sex appeal. ..easiness, ..and look. ..well, even health. @Carlos-qn8gi Před 6 lety +4

      Nani di, Pero recuerda que dijistes que al tener acento latino muy marcado tiene menos probabilidades, pues en eso era lo que difería, dado que en una película, serie u obra teatral no importa eso debido a que hay decenas de actores que conforman una producción y por ende sus personajes encajarán de acuerdo al papel que les toque interpretar.

    • @Carlos-qn8gi
      @Carlos-qn8gi Před 6 lety +1

      Nani di, para eso son actores, lógico! el talento de actuar y personificar a alguién es lo que hace un buen actor, hablar como un borracho, chino o lo que sea es lo que un buen actor hace al desempeñar un buen papel

    • @lupeozuna8751
      @lupeozuna8751 Před 6 lety +2

      Nani di ...Total y absolutamnt d acuerdo con tus comentarios, ...por ejemplo en México, hace años en la novela "La Mentira" con Kate del Castillo y Gay Ecker, a él se le notaba muy raro al hablar y era x su esfuerzo d tomar el acento mexicano, ya q él es d otro país, y x ende, con otro acento. Y así, un sin fin d actores, tanto en México como en otros paises. Por eso, lo q se comenta, "para eso son actores", volvemos a lo mismo q tu argumentas en tus comentarios, es como si en una pelicula d época apareciera un carro deportivo en vez d carruajes, ó q Eugenio Derbez fuera el actor principal o secundario en una pelicula de Horror, obvio sin comedia, ó una pelicula dramática con diálogos totalmnt fuera d la comedia, q es el estilo q maneja E D. Suenan ridículos mis ejemplos, pero tmbn suena ilógico poner a una persona con acento latino tan marcado ó el acento q sea, en una pelicula d época o pretendiendo ser d alguna parte del mundo. Por eso, cada planta a su maceta y q s acomode donde mjor encaje, ...Sofía Vergara actua d acuerdo a sus posibilidades y no ha sido necesario cambiar su acento, pero no s descarta p nada q el hacerlo le abriría más puertas.
      Entre mas real o acercada sea la actuación del actor, más se interna la audiencia en la historia y en ó los personajes.
