SpiceBuds FarmStay is a Home stay facility set in a Spice Plantation of about 5 acres of land at Koottar near Ramakkalmedu in Idukki District of Kerala. The property is 50+ years old heritage house with three suite cottages. The main attraction of these cottages are the walls made by rocks. You can explore nature's bliss through the soft trekking inside the spice plantation.
SpiceBuds FarmStay is owned and operated by Payikattu Family, whose roots are from Palai, Kottayam. Their 50+ year old house is renovoted and converted into this farm Stay. This farm stay started in 2020 for nature loving travellers to experience stay at a spice plantation.
The main spice items of this plantation are Cardamom, Pepper, Clove and nutmeg. In addition to that they also have Cofee, Cocoa, Areca Nut, Coconut, various types of Bananas, Fruit trees and various medicinal plants.
If you like birdwatching this is the right place for you to stay. You can find White-bellied Treepie, Nilgiri Flycatcher, Nilgiri Pipit, Malabar Parakeet, Broad-tailed Grassbird, Bulbul, Small Sunbird, Great Hornbill etc. there. They also have rabbit farming in small scale so kids will definitely enjoy in playing with rabbits.
40 feet heigh watch tower is another biggest attraction in the farm stay, which is situated on top of the plantation. This watch tower will give you 360 degree view of the surroundings. You can experience the beauty of western ghats from the top of the watch tower. Also there is a small stream flowing beside this property, where you can play and take bath.
The food they are providing is very homely. They have veg and non veg varieties on their menu. They also have workation facilities in weekly or monthly basis. For that they have high speed fiber network and 24x7 power backup facilities.
More over it is very budget friendly farm stay. There are many tourist places with in 1hr distance of this property, such as Ramakalmedu, Thooval Waterfalls, Idukki Reservoir, Kalvary Mount, Vagamon, Munnar etc. And this farm stay is situated close to Kerala and Tamilnadu border in Cumbum Mettu. This lace is just 18km away from Cumbum.
