Homunculus is a story where it makes you wanna read all night to see how it’ll all end and then realize it’s 5 am and now you have unlocked a new trauma
Trauma? It wasn't even all that
i agree
But it was really sad. That the girl betrayed him and he lived a lonely life not wanting to see the lies and without living with people who love him at heart😢.
this was literally me last week lol
This is exactly, to a fault, my experience with homonculus
The Punpun description was perfect. Punpun is a very happy manga that had me dying of laughter. If your looking for a good time, definetly read Punpun it is a masterpiece that always puts a smile on my face when I read the last 20 chapters. So go read goodnight punpun its amazing
I especially recommend reading it if you are in a dark place in your life. This manga is guaranteed to cheer you up.
Such a happy-go-lucky story
@@kpl775 fax, it's a cheerful and hilarious slice of life masterpiece
greatest manga ever. Super joyful, after reading it i became happier in life fr
Yes sir
I read it back in 2018
Happiness never left my side since then
I finished I die on laugh 💀
Homunculus is a mind-bending masterpiece that delves deep into the human psyche. It's a journey through the darkest corners of the mind that leaves you questioning reality. This manga is pure psychological brilliance!
Not sure if assaulting a minor and not reprimanding it but instead condone it constitutes masterpiece
Idk man, your slopping is for sure D1, but in this instance, homonculus ismgreat but it aint that great. I got it in my top 10, but tbh it left me more scarred than perplexed
@@EliotThemastermind-xb6xp So with your logic does GTA: San Andreas encourage you to go on a rampage and kill police-forces across town? No. We really shouldn’t hold fiction liable for real world morals as it is, obviously, very stupid and is a very clear violation of the freedom of speech.
Calm down weeb
holy shit, i remember, that scene was insane @@EliotThemastermind-xb6xp
"Back when you called us devils" is the best manga I read in recent years. It's also a finished work. Instantly took the spot of the 4th best manga I ever read, below Kokou no Hito and the two other usual suspects.
If you say its almost as good as kokou no hito then ill read it
@@ca9inec0mic58 Kokou no Hito art is prettier. And the themes hit more personal to me. My top 3 is life-changing stuff for me that came at the right time. "Back when you called us devils" is not life-changing to me because I already got there on my own. That's the difference between number 3 and number 4.
Thank you random guy in the comments, I’m on chapter 40 and it’s actually pretty good 👍
@@bestmeruemas I started reading it and I couldn't put it down. You're welcome.
How many chapters and Volumes does it have?
Come on ! Why nobody is talking about Oshimi Shuzo. Talking about psychological manga Flower of Evil and A trail of blood are both Psychological masterpiece for me. His way to make characters go slowly crazy and how he is showing the aftermath so realistically is just genius.
The way you described oyasumi punpun cracked me up 🤣🤣
Man speedran my depression
I just want to appreciate the quality of your videos. I really like the style and how relaxing it is. The first 30 seconds are a masterpiece and I re-watch it 3 or 4 times.
It's interesting to hear you talk about Shamo, especially the ending, because although I agree that it's a flawed story from many standpoints, I believe Ryou as a character remains extremely complex even when the events might feel a bit off. For me, the beauty of his character comes from the fact that he refuses to change; in fact, he refuses to explore any of his trauma at all throughout the first parts of the story, always trying to ignore the hallucinations he has of his parents, all of this while developing a self-destructive philosophy of doing anything and everything to survive. We can describe Ryou as incredibly misguided, as there are many instances where he is shown as a person with the potential to do good. Of course, these could be deemed character inconsistencies, but you could argue that these good decisions that he rarely takes are a way to show the duality of his character. It is very important to note that until the last part of the story, Ryou does not find one person who could entirely save him from his darkness. Not even Toma, who went out of his way to find Ryou and try to befriend him, and failed in pulling Ryou out of the dark because he didn't fully understand his nature, the fight between them portrays that. The girl that he meets on the street is the only person with whom Ryou feels a connection throughout the story, and that's why he starts to improve himself and his character close to the end. There is a scene where he has another hallucination of his parents followed by another hallucination of his master while he is standing by the sea, and if I'm not mistaken, he follows the master into the sea. This is, for me, a representation of Ryou finally changing and confronting his trauma. The ending as a whole is horrible due to the brothers being very poorly written, but the final moments that we see of Ryou I actually find extremely beautiful because of the tragic irony of his character. The fact that, for the first time in over 300 chapters, he reflects on his past and discovers himself after doing all he can to mentally ignore the past makes his death compelling to me. I find the conclusion of Shamo a metaphorical tragedy of how neglection of oneself can affect you, of how we can meet the right and the wrong people in our lives, and how past and regret work, but simultaneously how the notion of fate can mistreat you.
The description you gave of oyasumi punpun sent a chill down my spine, not because of the obviously sarcastic line but cause of the memories flooding through and remembering the time i couldn't sleep peacefully in the nights thinking about punpun. It's the greatest manga ever made for me, it gave me nightmares i can't forget and made me fall in love with manga as a medium
Wish I had this type of reaction I might have to reread it because I didnt care for it and cant remember much but the good vibes
We appreciate your insights. Keep working hard.
No one even talks about Usogui, it's goated fr.
top 5 manga easily
Blood on the tracks the goat of physiological manga
Man you've been on a roll with the uploads lately.
Would've liked to see Usogui mentioned here aswell. It's a very underrated manga in terms of it's psychological themes.
Baku the goat
I think he said that hes reading Usogui right now and probably hasn't finished it yet to fully talk about it.
Stl was peak i just read it

Homunculus:
Storytelling 9/10
Artwork9/10
WTF moments 10/10
😂
Wow Masked, the editing has really improved!
I been waiting one of my favorite manga also love your analysis
i really liked the editing in this one
Nice collection there, on a not so serious note i would like to hear you delve into some of Go Nagais more obscure and insane mangas, yeah Devilman is great but there is soo much trippy and entertaining materials to be found.
Homunculus I'm only 3 volumes deep so far and gotta say this type of story has been really enthralling and kept me wondering what's to come and show up next like how he helped that one guy early on was great but can't imagine what I'd look like through his new power or want to have that power yourself oh my god man
The editing has been clean as of late ngl.
I’ve never heard of some of these and I’ll definitely check them out!!
Freesia is also an interesting one to read. Its pretyyyy indepth into what its trying to portray to its reader.

👇👇👇
Wanitokagegisu
Punpun
Mpd Psycho
My Dearest Self With Malice Aforethought
Paranoia Star
Homonuclus
Shamo
Our Happy Time
Thank You
Hey Masked, just wanted to say that it's not called Multiple Personality Disorder anymore. It was changed in the 90s to Dissociative Identity Disorder.
I always thought they were two different things. Guess that's from reading watching and listening to things from different eras Would you happen to know why it changed?
@@Mungdaal304i think it changed because Dissociative identity disorder is a more accurate description of the actual disorder. Multiple personality disorder has a name that might make people think it works in a different way from how it does. It used to be called that cause people didn’t yet have a very good understanding of the disorder.
I haven't read many psychological manga but Monster & Punpun are my favorites.
Any idea how I could go about getting the wanitokagegisu manga here in the UK?
Shamo is one of those mangas where you may call it one of your favorite but secretly . Also any Shuzo Oshimi is a master piece!
I never heard of the others, but I've heard of Punpun and Homonculus, very popular. I even started to read Punpun at one point, just no time yet. But, I've read Our Happy Time, but I forgot everything about it, maybe I'll reread it, and continue with Punpun and read the others.
Where's that melofy in the ending from? Would really like to have a longer version to listen to
Omg I have been looking for a happy manga because my life is fucked up rn and I kinda wanna find an escape from it. Can't wait to read this punpun manga you just recommended 😊
Homunculus perfectly shows a man’s decent into madness
Yo if youre watching this this man made me go to kinokuniya and pick up homunculus and its honestly so amazing, it honestly changes the way you look at people
Where can I read homunculus i can't find it's full chapters
hey masked can you check out legend of the galactic heroes which is widely considered by many as the greatest anime space opera of all time.
Damn, didn’t expect MPD Psycho
Is it worth reading
hey you might not see this and i don't know if you have already read it but you should try reading candy cigarettes its really good
Heads and Eternal Sabbath are good psychological thrillers as well
you should read bibliomania, its pretty good and very short
Appreciate the vid as it's almost spooky season
Try Saltiness by Furuya Minoru. It's wild.
U NEED TO FINISH USOGUI BROO
This manga is a visually appealing character analysis of a man with deep issues.
I like that everything basically takes place in his mind and he doesn't get rewarded in the end.
YES! Homunculus, finally. Also peeps, read Full Ahead Coco
Could you talk about boys abyss?
Most accurate description of Oyasumi Punpun: 1:32
Great video.
It’s terrifyingly how Nakoshi can be relatable at times. Yet this was clearly intentional since Nakoshis character pretty much serves as a warning
Seeing his character devolve throughout the story is borderline depressing
A man who ran from his problems and chose to literally hide them, reaches the point where he can’t even remember himself and eventually goes insane
Usually in manga of the seinen demographic, you see stories of redemption. Characters who evolve and become better humans as the story progresses. In that case, Nakoshi is the antithesis to those characters
You never miss
Paranoia Star is not just any psychological manga with a regular story telling. The work is an experience and exploration of psychological horror, beauty, and desire, that is, to feel and experience by heart, not by trying to organize or read it(and the visual that doesn't make sense to you is the direct inner feelings from the characters if that helps).
Theres a manga alot like homunculus it's about a orphan who finds purpose trough failure and difficulty and starts developing because of that it's really good you should check it out
I lied, not sure why. this manga doesnt even exist
@@makhundredjust make it yourself
loved homunculus. except the moments where he would "drink his own milk". i paused for like a month before finishing it 💀
Here to spread the shamo narrative again, check it out brahs it's good af
edit: it 100% does have inconsistencies, this was because the writer and the artist were in a court battle against each other so it kinda changes plots alot
i still enjoyed it alot
My kind of shortcut into existential despair and bottomless self identity crisis
i tried reading mpd psycho ages ago but i couldnt find a good scan for it? can anyone help a brother out?
Being alone and feeling alone are two things, authors trying to portraits that type of scences and background art
Homunculus is the first psychological type manga I have read and it was really something else it's amazing and weird experience with this manga but I really love it especially the art it's absolutely beautiful and strange make me feel uncomfortable sometimes and also the ending was ... tbh I don't know my feelings for the ending but if someone ask me to recommend a psychology type manga I won't recommend homunculus because I don't think it's the best manga to start this type . Overall I rate homunculus 9/10 the dialogs is the best think in the manga . It's like chess game between nakoshi and the characters and its entertaining and realistic. Also good vedeo ❤
Have you read Billy Bat?
@ The Masked Man
I highly recommend the Manga Suicide Island
Can you review ( The World I Rule)
I read it long time ago and thought it was great.
But later I was shocked it is one of lowest rating manga on mangaupdate!
I want in depth 3ed opinion
oh hell nahh
make a vid on ichi the killer
Yeahhh PunPun is veeeeeryyyy HAPPY manga.
MPD psycho have one big problem. It is not translated yet. Also have good live-action adaptation by Takashi Miike.
Read Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson.
Paranoia star is a Maruo Suehiro manga
His works are completely unhinged and I’m not even sure if he tries to convey some sort of message through them or he’s creating acid trips for the sake of creating acid trips
HELL YEAH SOME MORE LOVE FOR SHAMO BOIS.
Fax about pun pun I can't agree more
Damn I remembered Shamo, me and my friend read it during his seinen manga phase in our teens, I thought it was some generic edgy shit, drug, and prostitution felt like random things to drop out of nowhere, also Pun Pun and Akametsu during that time. Something’s were good some things weren’t.
Have you read a manga called Freesia? might peek ur interest.
I really like homunculus and ichi the killer they both show deep and traumatising story but it always makes me laugh the faces characters make or the way they talk to me it makes easier to read it love the authors works
Why punpun have a very short explanation?
I've read them all only God knows how I manage to get pass each day. Blood on the track, metamorphosis, flowers of evil, boys abyss, Juujika no Rokunin etc
I thought that was Jesse from breaking bad in the thumbnail
Shigurui death frenzy is the best of the best imo
Ok this might be my last comment but like pls just cover under ninja im begging u
I have to read Homunculus again
Homunculus's ending is one of the best ending I've ever read in manga.
frrr bro its genius
where do u guys read this wth i cant find it
just type (series u wanna read) ch 1, and on google u will find sites like mangakalot, mangadex etc there re a lot of sites
Also not related but how you feel about OPLA if you've seen it for me personally I really liked it and found it enjoyable and made me laugh so much plus the casting was so damn good with some changes that kinda work but kinda don't at the same time.
1:35 bro....💀🗿
Please do a Far-east-chimera-video, mabga deserves more attention
ngl, i thought the thumbnail looked like Jessie Pinkman
Bro’s setting new readers up with that PunPun description 💀💀
1:35 nah this should be a hate crime
My favourite romcom Oyasumi PunPun!!!
such a wholesome manga❤❤ made me giggle and smiling all the time💞💞
Homunculus is 9/10
i have two word, PTSD radio..... go read it. IT is a brilliant unfinished but still finished story . The author started to feel haunted by the stuff he wrote in the manga and dropped it there😶
thank you for not naming the video "this manga lies to you"
Yo masked recommendation here go read saikyou by the same author who made kaiji
what about juujika no rokunin💀
1:30 this should be considered terrorism
hes literally me
Because people can't see or make anything of honesty where it actually is they start bothering with mediocrity.
Im sorry i didnt listen. I got past the point where he met schierke and you were right 2 years ago. I should have kept going. But i think it was for the best since i have a way better appreciation and understanding for the structure of stories. Be it novel, comic or shows. berserk is great. And i didnt get it. (Yes this was in my head all the reread, you telling me to keep going. Thanks! (although it was so good i didnt actually need it lol))
❤
Everytime i wana catch up on a manga i end up not catching up 💀
I try so many things I end up forgetting
Rn I'm reaeing Gamble fish and Jonosuke the exorcist
Happy time really made me burst into tears. Can really rekt you
