Hank you should look up those rims and see exactly what lug nuts those take. Some of the aluminum rims use a nut with a shank that actually goes through the rim for the rim to sit on. If they are not right they could work loose as you drive. Just a thought ❤❤

I just wanted to applaud you for admitting that you should have done a better job of checking out the girls truck. I am really impressed with the values you taught your granddaughters and now I know where they come from. I really enjoy watching you and the girls revive these old dozers and tractors. Keep up the good work and can't wait to see the girls reactions when the truck is done.

Hank nothing is wrong if you put a newer bed on that truck. always remember anything is possible with time, money, a welder, and grinder. Good luck on the project. That step side truck has your name all over it.

Hank, you need to put some racing stripes on that TYM tractor so it will go even faster with the black rims.

ALWAYS use a torque wrench on aluminum wheels. They will come off and leave you stranded with broken studs. As another commenter said, you will warp the rotors making up the lugs with an air wrench unless the wrench only puts out 50 lbft of torque.
I believe you should have got the step side Chevy for the girls believe you might save money. LoL 😆but you are doing a great thing with your granddaughters that's something they'll never forget.

I think you need lug nuts with a shank and depending how thick the rim is that how long shank .
I put a bar under the wheel and lift it up so you don't have to lift the whole weight, the lever does all the work.

Guess you didn’t notice his trucks wheels they were Chevy Rally Rims with center cap and ring . Original wheel for those trucks . Sure bought the widest wheel think those parts were high ! here comes 300$ a tire bill !

First of all, you do not use air impact to tighten lugs nuts you torque them, Spend that much money on wheels and tires, then take a piece of scrap and make a floor pan. Using impacts can and will warp rotors, and you can get the pan after market, and yes I WAS A MECHANIC FOR 40 YEARS

Hey Hank if your granddaughters are looking for a second vehicle someday go for a Blazer when they first came out from 1969 to 1975 had the full retractable hardtops I had a 75 Blazer K5 and it was neat to pull the cab off of the hardtop off of it and go around in the summertime anyway just a suggestion they've talked about a second vehicle are there talking Ford Bronco now that's a great idea of Ford LOL

Hello, just a question? Did you mark what tire came off what side. They might not be to old but once you get those wires inside the tire stretching one way, you can’t put them just wherever.

Yeah id definitely have the 75 front sheetmetal and headlight bezels but maybe the 73-74 grille Amber Park lights and hood latch support bar as it is different it is bent so it is recessed in closer to the core because of the recessed grille and outer lip surround

The biggest portion of time tank whatever I can't find in the store I usually order online for what I can't find because a lot of stores don't always carry stuff you look for especially if you want a certain type of thing for certain things that you're working on
Hank it's alright we all some times skip details on a vehicle right before we buy it. Then we buy it and find out all the problems I did find a direct replacement bed with tailgate scuff and paint for 2440.35 plus tax and shipping but I know that's out of you budget I will look for you a bed and will if I find one can do a inspection on the bed for you and send a video.
And don't worry about the truck I've often ended up getting worse but usually a really drivetrain so it just got driven until a better truck was acquired

Do not do what this man did. Never ever ever ever ever ever ever tighten lug nuts down with an impact. Snug it up with the impact then torque them by hand to spec. Paying that much for lugnuts then stretching the threads in them is awesome...
