Hank! U and wiley absolutely rock! Love every episode!
I even subscribed to wileys channel! Question? Yall both go to the same church?
Love the bit about makin oil!
I use that line also sometimes
When i check the fluids on my Cummins pickup
Pretty clever Hank
"Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh! (A Letter from Camp)" is a novelty song recorded by Allan Sherman released in 1963. Allan based the lyrics on letters of complaint which he received from his son Robert who was attending Camp Champlain, a summer camp in Westport, New York
It was also a Velveeta commercial back in the early 90's.
It was on a TV show 😅
Yes this happen to me I doing some work on my jeep and 5 minutes job take 2 hours
camp Granada
I thought you would have built an inspection pit by now.
Old mechanic told me: "You want to make a job last all day?" "Say it will take 5 minutes!"
When I worked in field service, the days my boss said "you've got an easy day" were the ones I tore my hair out on!
Camp Granada was a song by Allan Sherman. it was a novelty song released in 1963. I had the 45 record when I was a kid.
My mom still has the 45. used to play it growing up.
I still have 2 copies of the song on 45.
Every project I do is usually hours longer than I planned for
I miss my father also. The last thing he said to me is take care of the family!!! I like your style buddy!! You remind me so much of my family!!! My Grandfather was one of the greatest mechanics in Nebraska!!!
Sometimes you just have to buckle up for the ride. Endless frustrations with repairing cars - but usually a nice sense of accomplishment knowing you did it yourself and kept your costs down. Way to hang in there buddy and struggle through the process. Nice to come out on top.
Nice perseverance, patience from the lord. Be blessed Hank!❤❤❤
It was "greetings from camp, Hiawatha"...The end was something like, "They like your nice fresh pillowcases". LOL
(A Letter from Camp)" is a novelty song recorded by Allan Sherman released in 1963. The melody is taken from the ballet Dance of the Hours from the opera La Gioconda by Amilcare Ponchielli, while the lyrics were written by Sherman and Lou Busch.
Yes happens to me a lot 15 min job into 1 hr job and 1hr job into 3 hrs but I am glad you got it fixed good video Hank
I have the same problem getting under rigs also. I just took railroad ties, put an angle for ramp, and put OSB or plywood on top and bottom to keep them from splitting. Been using them for years. Even run our logging truck on then. Great farmer fix you improvised.
I have just used wire that would go in the Grove of the rod and twisted it. You might measure the original rod for length to get a different turn buckle. Good job on the repair
Screw driver and some rubber grease should enable those bushings to go in with ease.
Dr. Demento played it all the time on his radio show.
@@BradleyLorenz you're aging yourself with this reference. Lol
Hi there from Australia just a idea is to spray the bush and fittings with wd or something similar the push the top of the bush in then use a screw driver flat blade and push the bottom of the bush in and all is good hope this helps next time you have a Rubber bush to put in
Thanks for the video
Regards
Richard
A majority of what info turns into multiple trips to store. Any plumbing repair is 3 trips and a day long adventure that usually has me talking to myself.
it came from a tv show, but was also used in a Downey commercial
Good video Hank. I had to do this on my 2007 dodge. I didn't know about this fix and ordered a repair kit off Amazon. Didnt even know it was broke until I got under the truck to change the oil. Hair pin was a good idea, dont have to worry about the e-clips coming off.
Glad your protected!
Love some of those quick jobs that turn into hrs of fun and trips to the store.
on the bright side we got a full size video from what could've been a small job so kudos to you Hank , thanks much.
Glad you enjoyed it👍
I have really enjoyed your videos.
It's nice to see a CZcams where things are shown in a step by step manor
I am going to buy something from your merch store to show my appreciation
Thank you
Used to have a 45 record of that song. Had a lot of fun listening to it.
It 1s camp Granada and I remember it as a song. It was a kid writing to mom and dad from camp
Great video! Yes, I have had projects like that.
After life time DIY, I have found first time projects always take much longer than repeats. I’m 72 and it is still the same. But the internet has helped get you going in the right direction.
I’m glad you used the rubber bushings as the steel ones would wear out your holes in the shifter and transmission bracket.
Oh, here we go with his daddy joke. Lots of laughs.
Good job Hank God bless you
Hey, love watching you everyday, I met you last fall at the TYM Tractor days in Maine. wanted to let you know I’m signing next week on my new TYM 574 next week hopefully I made a good selection your videos really helped me to decide. Hopefully it will fill all my needs.
That is awesome! Love mine. Enjoy the new tractor.
For extra security you could always drill a hole through the bolt and install a cotter pin too.
Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh (Camp Granada song) wrote and sung by Allan Sherman. He was on the Ed Sullivan show a few times. It was a popular song in the 60's.
lol remember it on a commercial lol good flash back
It's a K9 Advantix commercial with a puppy writing home from camp, someone has it uploaded on CZcams but I don't want to post links. "Hello mother, hello father, fleas ticks mosquitos... really bother!" I know because it has lived in my head rent free since it was on TV 🤣🐶
Washing up liquid helps with stubborn bushes and it doesn't attack the rubber used it many times hope it helps for the next time
😂lol you got a dealer too! Hahah😅
Hello mudah hello fadduh here I am at Camp Granada. It was a record that used to be played on the radio back in the day. Possibly in the late 60s.
Good job and God bless y'all
Alan Sheman,i have the album. It was a letter he was writing to his parents if i remember right.
Turnbuckles have left and right handed threads. You are supposed to connect them and turn the central part to tighten/loosen them.
Need to invest in hiway creepers! They cost O dollars and are easy to handle! Back in the day I always carried one in the trunk with my tool box! Even carried one in my truck when I was driving OTR! Plain old cardboard box is a back saver!
the song was also used in a commercial in 1985. but some of the words were changed due to copy wright rules. The song was released in 1963 and the melody is taken from The Ballet Dance of the hours from opera La Gioconda By Amilcare Ponchielli
When you get your longer turnbuckle measure your new set up to be the same length as the factory linkage, it should slip right in without much if any adjustment.
as others have stated it was a song recorded by Allan Sherman, it was most recently used in a k9 (advantics) commercial.
It is Camp Granada a song on the radio in the 60’s by Allen Sherman.
Used the original length rod to measure it to the correct length
I’ve never had a 5 minute job ever take less than a FULL day. My advice: buy the OEM part and save time and money. You’re saving on labor anyway, so it’s best to just bite the bullet and buy the part. Then, the 5 min job gets cut down to only a half day! Hahaha. Love your videos….
The song you’re think of is actually from the opera La Gioconda, by Ponchielli. Dance of the Hours is ballet from that opera. I think you’re thinking of a song “Hello Mother hello Father recorded by Alan Sherman. Also it’s from camp Hiawatha 🙂
Yes, 5 minute jobs generally turn into two, or more, hours of work. Usually it would also mean multiple trips to Lowe's or the hardware store because I need a slightly different part! Or someone mixed metric with imperial threads. I learned my lesson on that one years ago, check before buying....
I feel your pain I had same problem on a jeep tj transfer case linkage.
Hank...I little greese on the bushings helps.
Camp Granada. A letter from Camp “ is the name of the song.
I NOTICED THAT YOUR SHIFTER ARM WAS BENTA LITTLE BIT..A LOVE YOU ALL AND BE SAFE
When you get a new turnbuckle, match the dimensions of the old shaft to the turnbuckle and little adjusting will be needed. It worked on my truck (my shifter link was broken) and till I sold it, no one ever knew. Better than trying to get the bloody bushings and stuff in. The clips don’t hold and drilling and pinning the shaft weakens it. It was/is a bad setup on the truck.
Yep! Hank 19 miles to Fort wayne indiana and 23 miles to defiance, ohio, guess where I'm in the sticks for 30 years but wouldn't want it any other way! Occasionally a road apple from the Amish, hearing the horse hooves pounding asphalt and the buggy wheels grinding the asphalt-takes a feller back ohhh! 100 years! I'm glade hank you got iron horse fix-good day!
Hank, I just came home from work. and a thing was in the back of my mind about that song. Over here in England UK we used to watch jerry Lewis & dean Martin, I remember Jerry Lewis singing that song on one of the shows. Something that I have never heard before way back then, but looking at it you Americans know the story of its origins inside out and hats off because I have just learned something too. 👈👀👀👺👍
Home Depot is just a mile or two closer, but I'm a little more familiar with Lowe's. They're both good places to shop, you can find almost anything hardware related at either store, though some brands may not be available. I'm 54, we're not too far apart in age, God bless you too Hank! That linkage was there because God kept it from falling out and leaving you without 4 wheel drive, He does that kind of thing, He's helped me in the same way several times.🙂
Yeah, my ten minute projects wind up being 30-40 minutes, but, hey I'm 82 years old!
Good on ya glad you can still do thing's, I'm only 60 ,and can only pray I can do more than sit in a chair, all the best for the future
You probably do more than ppl in their 20s
@@jwmustang1 A lot of the stuff I do, 20 year olds don't even know how to do it.
I remember that song drom the Dr Dimento radio show back in teh '70's. I think it is "camp granada"
Sounds like your full is reasonably price. In Ontario Canada, a low price for regular gasoline works out to $6.80 per gallon.
Heard the song on a Buck Skin Bill show back in the late 70s 😎
we learning with you glad to see this then i know to to do
Allan Sherman may have wrote it in 63 but it was also part of a 1985 downy fabric softener commercial

That's it!!
All I know is originally recorded in 1963 but it was also a Downy commercial the melody hello Muddah,Hello Fadduh the Melody comes from a ballet I know that 1963 but you probably remember from the television commercial the Downy commercial
Funny I just put new bushings in mine and it worked fine. but it’s easy to do when you don’t lose the rod
The hello mudder song was from a Downy commercial in 1985
Wait a minute, it stopped hailing, Guys are swimming, gals are sailing, Playing baseball, gee that’s beeta, Muddah, Fadduh, kindly disregard this letter! LOL Letter from Camp 'Camp Granada' Allen Sherman 1963
Greeting from Camp Granada! It was a song
Here I am at Camp Granada. Camp is very entertaining and they say we'll have some fun if it stops raining.
It's an old Alan Sherman song popular in the early 60s. It was played on the radio you both were wrong the commercial picked up the song
If you put the clamp on and have it so the side that you are trying to put into the hole is outside of the clamp 1/8 of in or so and put it in hot water or use a heat gun and get it got and then put the 1/8 in the hole and with it in the hole unscrew the clamp and push the rest of the way in with a socket the same size and channel locks and boom 💥 it's in the heat is the ticket . You got it also use a tiny flat head screwdriver and pinch or push the edges in a little bit at a time around the hole. If you find yourself trying to put bushings in a similar type application good luck with your fix the quick fixes are never quick fixes and the binder fix will work as well but longer tune buckle and washers than are smaller than the spacer so it doesn't squish the parts together letting them move freely. Thanks for all. God Bless and Stay Safe Dale
It was a song but I remember it from 1985 it was in a Downy commercial some words changed fir the ad haha
I'm amazed you can buy parts at Lowe's to repair your truck.
At least with the new bushing now and the new clips to stop it coming off you wouldn't have to worry about it for x amount of years now great video
Old sheets or pieces of cardboard to lay on(easy on your back)maybe a plastic face shield (keep falling crude out of your face)?
should have listened to Daddy ((use the correct part) lol lol
I think you did a good job, Hank. I really appreciate the channel, buddy 👍
Thanks 👍 I appreciate that
You can buy them rubber bushings at Lowe's to fit that rod.
I remember that song on at least 2 commercials growing up
it was also used in a commercial for downy fabric softener.
just make the linkage that you are making the same length as the original that you found and it should line right up, or use two turnbuckles with a length of all thread between them
Thats right! Novelty song, it was Camp Granada....lol
Yes it happens a lot I am in the process of a front wheel drive transmission swap. It's going to take longer than I expected
It was used in a commercial for either a fabric softener or laundry soap
How do you do that? I would be cussing so much the beeping would sound like the emergency weather alert. Lol
Definitely a song
Just as a rule of thumb, your threads should be threaded 1 1/2 times the diameter of the bolt. Example: a 1/2” bolt should be threaded in 3/4”. Good fix though. 👍🏼
Now this was funny, immediately after you asked the question, "Which do you prefer, Home Depot or Lowes", it cut to a Home Depot commercial... LMAO Then it went back into you showing the front of Lowes and your trip through there.
I remember the song from a little puppy singing the song about some flea meds or something.
Hank, it was actually a song you could buy on a 45, by Allan Sherman. Funny. “Mudda Fadda kindly disregard this lettah”!
Have you used many other tools that are any more handy than a ratchet wrench? Especially the ones that swivel. Every time I work on something, I find myself using them more and more. Especially in tight quarters.
Go to Harbor Freight and get a( solar charger) and connected to the tractor that way all the time when the sun comes up the battery will stay charged !!
Hi Hank , JD here from Indiana, wonder if you could drill it for a cotter pin, although it stayed in this long, may not be a problem ever again, I have used hand cleaner as a lubricant ,it dries out quickly but allows things to slide for 2-3 minutes…least you didn’t bust a knuckle …lol.. still enjoying the channel.. keep on keeping on …blessings to you and yours
Put bushings and other rubber items in boiling water to soften them up. They aren't candy; they won't melt.
make it the same length as the old rod
like dad said get the right part for the job
soak in hot water to make soft
You need 2 bushings 2 flat washers and 2 hair pins along with the original rod!! Don’t waste your money buying the factory rubber grommets they don’t last! Been there done that!
That old tractor is similar to the one I grew up using on our small farm. "Back then" we made do with what we had. No cab, no AC, no Amazon or CZcams, no problem (we were even thankful for the hand crank when the battery went dead). As my father used to say, the only thing complaining does is wastes time you could have used to finish the job.
All right that song you were saying that come from a commercial
The clip should be built into the bushing normally...not always but usually because that's what we machined them for in the factory I used to work in...we made about a dozen different versions of that linkage most of them had a weight welded to the side of them and depending on the model of the vehicle that weight was positioned in different places along the length of the rod for different applications
The song was from a record by ALLEN
SHERMAN IN 1963. One of many parodies he "rewrote"" on records.
The Deutz engine is incredible.
