Good stuff. Suitably impressed. Considering that is only going to hold slates that is a real belt and braces job going nowhere. And the weather even looked good. SE Qld and Northern NSW we are just getting over massive flooding. 100's of mm of rain. Trapped in our houses for days and power outages. Nice to see a bit of sun and from all places England.

Hi Martin🖐I basically fire a laser dot up from the bottom plate at 25 degrees, mark that, and drop the 46mm wide wall plate 25mm from this line. (It's close enough, as 25 degrees is about half of 45 degrees and 25mm is about half of 46mm so drops it the right amount). I then just lay an uncut rafter on the top edge of the top and bottom plate and plumb the top mark onto the rafter, against the wall plate, and mark a level line on the rafter against the bottom plate. This gives the perfect seat and plumb cuts and the correct length👍Not sure if I've made this clear🤔Thanks for your kind words and for watching 😎 Cheers Del

Hi Michael🖐Good question, and the simple answer is the customer was only going to put a small roof over the steel beam originally when it was installed, but then changed thier mind and made the whole porch bigger to include a new enclosed section🤔Happens a lot on my jobs where I'm making it up as I go along🤓Thanks for watching 😎 Cheers Del

@@MECS96 Hi there🖐Just for the roof timber structure you'd be looking at about £600 for the labour, and there would still need to have the soffit, fascia and end cladding to do👍That is a trade rate, and this job on price would probably be a fair bit more👊

Hi Del, great job as always. I've a rookie question for you. I notice that quite often you'll fit a piece of timber to masonry by holding it up against the wall and then screwing through both the timber and the bricks with your SDS drill. Whenever I try and do that same I find that the timber moves and I end up putting it wonky on the wall. Do you have any advice?
Yes can be a pain. Two things I've found works is partly depress the trigger (reduce the SDS hammer/vibration) throgh the timber then give it full beans in the brick...Or you could pre-drill a hole in timber first?

It's more complicated than people think, but looks simple enough for everyone to do. So you can't charge what you deserve. But we carry on because we can imagine nothing else.
