25% Gradient + 200 km + Pavement Picnics + Those Views + Sunshine + Mates = Tons-o-fun for Katie and her Global Peloton ... Brilliant!
They are the BEST rides eh!!!!’
Awesome ride all around my old stomping ground. Shivers up the spine just watching. I can’t wait to get back ‘home’ for a visit. Thank you Katie x
Chapeau!! 🎩 Your excitement for the brevet got me excited for you! And the route looks gorgeous!
I did my first Audax ride on Saturday, a nice 165km with only 790 metres of climbing, which for a fat 55 year old nine months into a return to cycling was pretty good, I thought. Then I looked at your strava....... well..... you are younger, fitter and clearly lighter than I am, but I have lost two stone in weight in the last year, with another two stone to go to my target. I'll get there, but it is so inspirational to see you having fun (FUN!) on the climbs!
Awesome ride Katie. BTW I rode my first 160km ride last Friday at the age of 62 powered by Katie Kookaburras epic fruit and oat slices. I reckon they got me through the 800 mtrs of climbing in the final 10km. Thanks again for the recipe. 😊
Your excitement is infectious. Love it. Brilliant ride but those climbs would kill me. Great video 🙌
Fantastic video Katie, brilliant scenery and not too much in the way of traffic, Happy Days 😀
Wow that looked totally stunning, to have that level of isolation soo close must be ace ✌️
Wow! amazing footage. And beautiful scenery! I'd love to cycle in the Dale's.
Positivity on wheels. Thank u again for sharing such great scenes x
Beautiful views and a great ride. I was out on the TPT on the Longendale Trail at the weekend, such a good feeling to be in the middle of nowhere!
On seeing Park Rash outside Kettlewell reminded me of when I got the cycling bug. This was on a family holiday in 1978, we stayed in Kettlewell. That year the CTC was having rides celebrating its 100th birthday. I recall the bicycles in Kettlewell one day. I loved cycling anyway but had no idea there were bicycles like the ones I saw. I leanred about reynolds 531, saw TA Cyclotourist chainsets with tiny inner rings for the hills. These bikes were tricked out with all the latest 70's kit. The best thing back then was a Suntour VX GT long gage rear mech to handle wide gear ratios.
I met the people riding and got a sense of what they enjoyed. It was not long before I rode my first club ride back home. I loved the freedom, sceenery and the people plus all the juicy bike tech.
Today I ride a bicycle based on the ones I saw in 1978, it's very retro now but I love it and can get all the parts I need. My bike still has a TA Cyclotourist triple chainset with a 30t inner ring like the ones I saw in '78. It has a Suntour rear mech, a 531 frame, Brooks B17 saddle and external cables everywhere.
I did not have a bike with me in '78 however there were cycles for hire at the garage in Kettlewell but my dad would not let me hire a bike. If he had I would have done and probably walked Park Rash.
That looks absolutely amazing Katie. Thanks for taking us along
Superb video you had a great great time I feel the vibes , I’m geussing this was filmed last Sunday as I was also in the great dales in around ingleton & ribblehead it was brilliant great weather wide smooth roads and awesome descents I will be back . Coal road I did that last week and yeah it’s tough but I liked the fresh tarmac up there nice
How "Delightful!".. glad to see you enjoying yourself at an Audax! I've done two in the last 12 months - hard to believe back in 2019 I was packing them nearly every weekend!
Great footage and scenery Katie.👏👏
What magnificent views on a bike, brilliant bike ride, thanks for shearing Katie.
Got chills during that first wonderful descent. Absolutely stunning.
If only I could do those gradients and I’ve only ever done 100 miles once. Need to get some training in. Awesome Katie, well done and those views, stunning. 👍🏻🚴♀️
Well done Katie. That was bloody great.
Great to see someone genuinely happy Katie ...stay safe 🚴🏻♂️🚴🏻♂️👍🏻
AYYYY THERE SHE IS! THAT RAY OF SUNSHINE!!! LOVE HER!!! WELL DONE KATIE
Ahhh that first bit was Kilnsey Cragg. Beautiful round there. Park Rash...... Ouch!! Well done really tough is that
I love how excited you are at the start, put a smile on my face 😃, Yorkshire at its finest 😍
Great Katie Kookaburra Vlog, thanks for sharing
You’re my example ! A wonderful woman :) I follow you from Switzerland, here we also have some really nice climbs. Keep it up !
200 km, haven't done that since my teens. well done
Great film Katie. Did it back in 2017.... Think it's the best ride I've ever done..... I think!
I am pining for scenery like this, it looks stunning!
What a glorious looking climb, with sun for extra vibes!
That drop into Dentdale off Coal Road. Always loved doing that in the Etape du Dale's sportive.
Beautiful roads. You rocked it
spectacular roads and landscape plus a 25% climb. You are a climbing beast!
Just realised I must have cycled up Park Rash from Kettlewell on my stag weekend years ago... was bad on an MTB so good work on a road bike!
Big job on there Katie... well done 👏 also need to ride round there
BOSS on the climb,Katie!
Stunning Katie
OMG! Look at you go! I love it that you love to climb!
Stunning ride, I'm about to do the Mudgee NSW Cycling Classic 120km that was postponed from last year because of you know what 🚴
Looks a cracking ride that one, I was in the Dales the day before 👍
You are just so joyful!!!
Simply stunning route that 👌🏻
Great views Katie👌but you need to ride the cotswolds for real beauty and villages. 😎
That looks a proper cycle ride👍
That looked amazing.. you would love Donegal 🤣 its more or less the same but greener with more sheep on the roads .
Brilliant. Joy!
Wow!!’ Amazing countryside!!! Thanks for sharing 😺😍
Brilliant job look like a fun day 🚴♀️😎🍀
Yorkshire Dales are so outlandish in appearance and yet awe-inspiring to the human soul 😃 Honestly hilly rides are my dearest, though my absolute favorites are longer, steadier ones that makes you reach the sky 🌞🌠 Well done to you, you're in excellent shape! Audaxes were starting to feel missed 🙂
I was missing them so badly!!!! Good to get back on the roads with the Audax bunch.
Well done Love! Smoothie time! Slainte!
Thanks for this awesome video. Could there be any better place to ride? I would give anything to have this terrain to ride...not only is it a beautiful place but riding there would make me such a better and more motivated rider. Treasure it because you truly have some thing special. Always a stellar job Katie!
Bloody loved that video! Never heard of Audax until last few days and now obsessed with idea of trying one. Absolutely love the socks n sandals combo. A girl after my own heart...function over fashion every time...! 😂 (well not always but after a 200k cycle...PERMISSION TO FLOUT.
You Rock Katie! 200k I wouldn't make it , maybe next year!!!😊🚲
Yeah that looks proper nice, can understand why you didn't want it to end when it all looks like that.👌
That looked awesome
Same reason for me. Just love it up in the hills over the moors. You should get up to Stanhope and have a bimble around there. Awesome. One of my daft things I say is 'The smell of sheep farts' lol.
Did u do 200 k look like u haven't been far great vlog skinny k x. Looks amazing x
Absolutely gorgeous territory thanks for that !
Thanks 😊
It helped that it was a lovely sunny day, good for the spirits.
Definitely helps!!!
you make it look so easy !!!
Again, that was some ride! You make me wish I could coast downhill, but don't tell anyone! I did 1 200k ride about 40 years ago. Nothing longer than 120k since. If I were there I'd find a way.
Hi Katie 🙌 love love this! What is the jacket you’re wearing in this? Hunting for a good cycling jacket
4:08 missing that kinda view! Love it!
Would love to see a ribble hybrid review.. and the ebike version of it
"What even is it?!" - Kilnsey Crag 👍 What a great route ❤
Big limestone cliff at the beginning was kilnsy main overhang and crag I do believe
I am currently located in Norwich and soon moving to Plymouth, but my heart belongs to the Dales (Wensleydale in particular). Great to see some very familiar sites on this route!
Anyone ever gone the other way over (Coverdale-Kettlewell) and descended Park Rash? Seems to me that the climb would be less steep but potentially more laborious and the descent would be, erm, "exciting"!
Super video Katie! Is that Saddke Pack the Apidura Racing Pack? If so what size. Looking for something similar for longer rides 😊
I think this is the 5L
The rock at the beginning was Kilnsey crag, did you go up Malham aswell? If not that's another climb you have to do it's awful/wonderfully and like the rest of the Dales gorgeous views at the top
You are always so bubbly and positive, I should start following you again I think
Hills are the salt in the soup of cycling!
When would u stop cycling for the season say October?was on the bike today ,have been just cycling same area ,but was on a different route ,how cool ,I will be able to stop in Guilin for coffee and return /. Incidentally what is your average cycling speed
Great video Katie - what was the route?
Watched Chris Boardman win the National hill climb up Park Rash in 91 I think it was, also from memory he also rode a disc rear wheel.
I've just completed my first 200K Calendar Audax for 2021 (great to be back) and would be interested what you were eating at your stops. I saw bagels and rocket but what else do you throw in it? I'm not a vegan but I do like the food and the foot long hotdog I had at the greasy spoon is still being digested 3 days on.
Excellent
@Katie WOW!!!!! What an amazing ride! May I ask what wheels you have to be comfortable for 200k/road and gravel? I want to do my first audax in autumn and I am kind of undecided ;-)
There isn’t any gravel on this route :)
Just wow 👌
Chapeau! A mate did that same ride on Sunday. I went mtb'ing...much more fun! ;-)
Never!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey Katie how do you keep your footage stabilized when shooting a cycling shot
Fair Play Katie 👍👍👍👍🚴🏻♂️🚴♀️
It doesn't have a sexy/gnarly name, but if you're ever in the Welsh Marches, enjoy the climb up the Burway, or for more 25% action the Asterton approach to the Long Mynd summit and Midlands Gliding Station!
Amazing achievement for the climbing and total distance. The views are mega, so makes the climbing worthwhile?
What saddle bag are you using?
Katie , could you do a video for new riders on A) what clothing you wore and carried on the 200k and B) How you stored it when not wearing it( bag or in back pocket etc)
For sure! Will do a prep video on the next long rides I do :)
This is the delightful dales ride? I remember doing this a few years ago. First time visiting the dales. Andy's rides are brutal but the most beautiful.
Ah yes you just said. great memories!
Well done Katie glad weather sunny for you! epic day x haha them stone walls r a bit shit 😂 did Darren feel better eating vegan on the ride?
Loved that video! What is the sugar about?
Just chuck it in a bottle and mix with water :)
Random question. What make are you cycling shoes?
I wish there were roads like that were I am! No cars!
Hi Katie, loving your videos and I bet you are asked this s lot but what camera do you use?
I use a mix of Sony A7III, ZV-1 and Gopro
@@KatieKookaburra thanks, I'm just starting out and have become aware that my cameras need to be better. Time to save some pennies I think.
Keep the content coming, I never miss one.
Nice ride how many ft did ya climb on the ride. Super strong 🚵🏻♂️
Over 10000
Looks like you're ready for The Yorkshire Beast. 19th June. Velo29 website. By the way, put a gauge on the inside of the first left up Park Rash and it's closer to 32%.
How was the wind?
That big whacking cliff face... I've seen climbers practising on it when I was camping near Skipton, dunno the name though.
Welcome to my playground. 😀
When I saw the title I thought gravel rash was another CZcamsr haha
Those narrow streets lined with stone walls always remind me of Postman Pat and his Black and White Cat.
I will tell them you said hello next time 🙃
You are a badass! ☀️
First to comment and excited too Kay Kay... will watch the video now
