At this point, the symbiote was his least toxic relationship. In every other relationship, they either die, cheat, or like black cat, manipulate him without remorse. At least the symbiote made him stronger and acted as a support pillar.

These days I prefer Felicia to Peter. They just don't let that man have anything. His stories just become sad. Felicia is kicking ass, swinging all round New York and loves every minute of it, even when she's got her back against the wall.
She's just a more enjoyable character to read, even if she isn't as popular as Pete/Spider-Man, she's just a lot more fun
maybe reintroducing her into the spider-man comics as a good thing for pete could take things for a good spin n stop this depressive cycle n actually give felicia sm character development (her personality's the only thing well done, not her character which has stayed extremely static other than sm times reminiscing of the past), but thts asking for too much cuz the black cat comics wont work too well anymore, or maybe they will as then it could have spider-man in every few issues and boost the popularity of her comic (jst happy speculation)
I think Felicia would be a good character to add to Tom Hollande's Spider-man.

I had a coworker once who was fun and wild, and I loved her but I was terrified of her because she was *mean* ...but she was also *funny* so I never thought of it as actual meanness, just crazy meanness. Anyway, she came into my workroom one day while I was eating a bag of potato chips, and she walked by and GLEEFULLY CRUSHED MY BAG OF CHIPS. I looked at her with wide eyes as she stopped to laugh at her handiwork. I could tell even she didn't know why she did that; it was just in her nature, and she went with it.
Believe it or not, I think she used to act out that way because she loved me too. But that mean gal was _crazy_ for sure!
I became the the photographer at her wedding, at her request. Her daughter is lovely and acts just like her. There's probably a lot of laughter in that house!

I believe Felicia is a good person at heart, but I've just been soured on her at an emotional level. I've seen what each of Spider-Man's love interests were like at their best, with their best writing. Yet, the editorials' influence over how multiple authors have portrayed her led to her being done dirty as well as doing Peter dirty over and over and over. It NEVER ends.
Mary Jane's had this issue too, I don't dispute that. But in my opinion, the worst things MJ's been written to put Pete through (yes, including Paul) still don't match how much Felicia's hurt him. Everyone has their favorite ship, and I'm sure the majority of us can agree that it would be nice to just let Peter be happy and end it there for once when his adventures are over. But if I have to choose between Betty, Gwen, MJ, Cindy, Felicia, or someone else, I'd rather take my chances with MJ. When she's well-written, I resonate the most with their relationship, considering everything they've been through.
None of this is the characters' fault, of course. The powers that be simply won't allow Felicia to change for the better and stay that way because they're too greedy and/or not creative enough to let her version of the Black Cat rest. This has been a problem with countless comic book characters for decades now. It's just endless reboots, recycling old ideas (most of which were done better in the past), character retcons & regression, and general repetitiveness + derivitiveness.
Even with all that in mind, however, I just can't view Felicia as a healthy, fulfilling long-term match for Peter. Too much has happened between them across too many continuities. I can only watch Pete get hurt so many times before it gets old. And some of the most hurtful things done to him out of all his romances were done by Felicia, even if it was different writers. Whoever the author is, it's still her doing it though. So, it's tough for me to reconcile that emotionally.
Much like Batman & Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Felicia's history and unwilligness to commit saddles her with this baggage of coming across as toxic. I understand infatuation with one's fan-favorites, but I just can't get behind it in this instance. People like Selina and Felicia are certainly alluring and often carry deep trauma beneath their snark. But they also display several signs of addictive behavior. And if addicts excel at doing one thing, it's taking advantage of others' good will.
If I had to write a canonical ending for them, based on my subjective preferences, I'd personally rather have Pete (once he's matured) just let Felicia go for good and wish her all the best. He should accept that what they had is the past. And whatever they could have had, Felicia simply didn't want that enough to become who he wanted her to be (i.e. the best version of herself). She just wasn't ready, and he couldn't wait for her anymore because that's not fair to either of them.
It's best for both of them to move forward with her eventually improving, finding lasting love, and being grateful to Spider-Man for helping her realize what's most important in life. They can be happy even if it's not with each other. And they'll always have a place in each other's hearts even if they weren't meant to be in each other's lives forever.
despite me completely agreeing with this sentiment, i think that if they actually give Cat a character arc where she actually changes instead of jst different aspects of her personality being explore, that toxicity n commitment could get resolved n id say itd be a relationship tht puts the best of MJ's n Cat's relationship together but thats hoping for too much n MJ's character wont be able to exist unless they give her powers or smth.
