  • In this video I react to Queen’s hit song “I Want To Break Free” performed live at Wembley stadium 1986. Freddie Mercury rockifies this already bangin’ song for the live setting, the atmosphere is on fire and Queen always delivers.
    Of course not required but much appreciated, if you leave a "Super Thanks" i will react to your song or video suggestion next! :)

    That's just one of the things I loved about seeing them in concert, Freddie made you feel like you were part of the show. Incredible! 🥰

    Thanks, Trevor! I recently read a comment from Brian May about how Queen "Stole the show" at Live Aid... and he basically said that he was surprised that nobody expected it... he said that they rented a theater and practiced their set for four days prior to the show, and also that "Stadium events were always our expertise"... (or some such) -- also, that the organizer, Bob Geldof, had requested that the participants not try to feature new music, but perform their familiar hits... which Queen took seriously and honed a great compilation set.. while some other performers ignored the request and tried to put out their "new" stuff... This band was professional down to the ground..

    yeah, Freddie's voice def cracks now and then in several concerts. But we just don't care. It's Freddie Mercury up there. His charisma carries the performance. Should his voice be totally toast (yep, it has happened), then Roger simply picks up and carries on with the vocals. They're such Pros!

    • @TrevorReaction
      @TrevorReaction  Před rokem +4

      Exactly, and he’s only human. Strenuous touring and singing these insanely difficult songs night after night is eventually gonna show some wear. But his voice and Freddie himself is so legendary and amazing it doesn’t matter at all. I’d take Freddie on his worst night over any other modern performer

    Thank so much for your reactions to this wonderful, iconic band! Not that I am one-sided about Queen or anything. I went to see them for my first concert and they set the bar and no one has exceeded that so far. Thanks for all the reactions, much appreciated.

    I believe the unique synth sound from Brian’s guitar is from the Deaky Amp. The whole concert was fire… Freddie was a little irritated that the crowd wasn’t responding as quickly as he’d like 😂 Roger was always there to hit the high notes for Freddie when they performed live. They were all so great together 💛💛💛💛

    • @TenCapQuesada
      @TenCapQuesada Před rokem +3

      I was always under the impression that it was the Montreal crowd that irritated Freddie because they were restricted by the video director into not going all out for their responses. Wembley struck me as a great participation event. However, you may be right. Just my take on it though. Be well.

    • @johngraham5996
      @johngraham5996 Před rokem +1

      i've never read one single comment of freddie ever being irritated with the wembley crowd but he definately was with the montreal forum crowd who were very subdued 👑✊🇬🇧

    • @ChristopherMahony370
      @ChristopherMahony370 Před rokem +2

      @@johngraham5996 Yes, Freddie had a wonderful rapport going with the Wembley crowds on both nights, just as he always did in every concert. And you're right, the time Freddie was irritated was during the Montreal concert, but his irritation was not with the fans, but rather, he was irritated with the news crew who were recording the concert, because they had instructed the crowd to keep quiet and to try not to move so that they could record. Freddie was very angry when he heard what the recording people had done, so he kept trying to tell the crowd that it was OK by them for the crowd to make as much noise as they wanted, and from that we got the wonderful recording of the interplay between Freddie and John, where Freddie tells the audience that it's fine by the band if they want to move about and make a noise and join in with the singing, etc, and then jokingly says that they can also take all their clothes off if they want to, to which comment John then plays the 'Under Pressure' riff on his bass. It was a hilarious moment.

    Hi Trevor...wonderful reaction, as usual! I appreciate how you recognize the talent it takes to adapt a layered, multi-tracked song from the studio/album to the stage without backing tracks or any of the technology that is available today. They didn't even have ear pieces to keep the band in sync...they relied on their eyes and their ears. To me, it's amazing and so refreshing to hear real, honest music even with the very occasional missed cue. And I agree that, at times, Freddie needed to adapt his voice depending on the circumstances. Wembley was a back-to-back 2 night concert in the middle of a HUGE multi-month tour throughout Europe starting in June and ending in August, 1986. By the time they performed at Wembley, Queen had already performed in Sweden, 2 nights in The Netherlands, France, Belgium, 4 nights in Germany, 2 nights in Switzerland, Ireland, 2 nights in other parts of England, and then Wembley for 2 nights. After this concert, they went back to Germany, then 2 nights in Austria, one night in Budapest, Hungary, back to France, 3 nights in Spain and, finally, returned to England for their final show. Can you imagine that?? There is a short film of Queen coming off the stage after the Wembley concert...they are wiped out...Roger has sweat pouring from him and looks pale...their roadies (personal assistants) are there to put towels around them and guide them to their vehicles. It was an ambitious tour...and a very successful one...but, my goodness, it was grueling and took a toll on the entire band - and, at times, you can hear it in Freddie's voice. Thanks for doing all these wonderful Queen songs!

    Queen studio recordings are usually perfection, but live Queen is amazing IMO because the songs are usually a bit faster and a bit more "rock", without all the overdubbs and fancy production.

    You’re so right about the fact you wanna see them actually perform which is why I feel axl while not being that great anymore he still sings as well as he possibly can and at times he does produce some great vocals gets disrespected a little too much. It just shows how much he’s given all these years

    If you like Queen here's another young band that I think you will seriously enjoy. Try the official video for Greta Van Fleet's " Heat Above" . Josh the lead vocalist's, voice sounds as if you were to Mix Freddie Mercury, Geddy Lee from rush , and then throw in a little Janis Joplin just for fun. Another stunning voice.The band was nominated in three Grammy Categories and won one. They brought integrity , talent , and good old fashioned showmanship back into rock music, bringing a very retro rock sound to a new generation. They are stunning.

  • @anne-mariesindruprix4792

    Freddies voice was broken and Roger took Care of the high notes and the melody where Fred took the lower harmony.

    I don't know if people already said this, I know you're aware there are 2 different wembley shows (july 11th and 12th), but the first night has much stronger vocals and it's much less post-produced. It's just a better concert, the only song I think is better the 2nd night is another one bites the dust. So I would suggets reacting to songs from the first show. Here's a great playlist with all of the songs in great quality: czcams.com/play/PLFNWAu-1aoxHDL93CmMLtRjL90WK54lq_.html
    Edit: the impromptu is also better the 2nd night, I'm looking forward to seeing your reaction to that one, it's improvised, different each night, quite cool.
    Since it varies a lot from show to show, I'll link a couple of my favorites, you might wanna check those out eventually
    2nd Wembley: czcams.com/video/FF2ykP3crr4/video.html
    Rock in Rio: czcams.com/video/W7sNNIxqitA/video.html
    Sun City: czcams.com/video/SmSvw3D5A5M/video.html (I think the best one ever, sadly no video, at the beginning there's a vocal improv with the crowd, but from about 3 minutes in it starts going crazy, top notch improvisation from Freddie)
