The Sandworm in High on Life could be a reference to any "sandworm" from any movie, but I believe that it is a nod to the 1988 classic horror film "Beetlejuice", especially as the sandworm has a head inside of the other head's mouth. What a great film, it's showtime!!!
Also the way the sandworm screams could be a meme reference to that one Walmart kid
I thought the same thing when I saw it while playing the game.
Did you not think it could be a reference to Tremors since it comes the sand?
I was thinking the same thing and Star Wars
Woah, sandworms! You hate 'em right? I hate 'em too!
That alien plushie in Blue Shift is definitely the Chumtoad. It's also a hidden easter egg in the original Half Life, where you had to shoot at a particular vent to break it and the little guy will fall down.
In the original game, the chumtoad can also be found in Barney's locker. Shoot the box in the locker with all the ammo you gathered in the shooting range.
The cassie elevator line could be a rare occurrence because theres a part in the game where a staffbot says "do you need assistance" multiple times normally but sometimes rarely Gregory will try to talk to Cassie instead.
really?
@@bh4vvy33t yep
@@bh4vvy33tyes I’ve seen it
Could they be triggered by playing the game on a specific date, maybe? Like maybe the Cassie Sandwich quote happens if you are playing through that part of the game on the original release date of Resident Evil.
Well I saw Dawko get it, so.
The helicopter being a fish is honestly one of the coolest ee’s ive seen in a while bc I cant tell if it was an intentional joke, or if they just thought they could get away with saving resources and no one would ever notice
The frog plush in Black Mesa: Blue Shift is a chumtoad, an enemy that has been cut from the original Half Life.
Nice of them to re-introduce this easter egg after Gearbox added it in the original Blue Shift game
I believe the sandworm is more of a Beetlejuice reference. The dual heads, but also in the movie the sandworms live in the desert that prevents the ghosts from leaving their house .i.e. going out of bounds.
Is there maybe an earlier line with Cassie's name in it that can be skipped? If so, maybe skipping the earlier line triggers the "Cassie sandwich" line as a way of making sure you hear her name at least once.
Nah it's just a random thing that happens. There is at least one other time this happens
@@A__random__nerd Is it the broken security bot that jumps at you?
I'm not sure if you've covered this easter egg before, but in bayonetta, there's a random chance when you enter the gates of hell (the shop), rodin (the person running the shop) will say something like "check this out, what're ya buyin", and saying he heard it in a game before, I thought it was really cool and I thought you would too :)
To answer you, yes he did cover it. It was in his video game details series
Ah ok, thank you
In the Shadow Warrior (2013) you can find lots of secret levels from og Hexen and Rise of the Triads behind waterfalls and in some rooms, which are pretty easy to miss
The fish helicopter def got me😂😂😂
Took me a while to notice it was a fish lol
In the original Blue Shift you could shoot the ground in the armory to leave some marks, and then in the monitor room if you were in the right part of the armory you could see the marks you made on the screen showing the area. I recommend saving before trying this so afterwards you can reload said save and not waste the ammo used.
The last one is a reference to Half-Life: Blue Shift, I can't remember the name of it but that frog is hidden away above the locker room if I'm not mistaken.
I work on Blue Shift as a modeler, I did most of the custom character models, as well as the Chumplush. While I was making the Otis variant I sent a screenshot of him in that pose to Faber the lead dev and after some laughs he had me export it to the game, so yes it's intentional c:
And that's not a one scene, it's the default "death pose" of ANY McFarland character though all his animations. Cool reference, bro.
The fish helicopter was a COD!
🥁
Love your videos man. They always make me want to do easter egg hunting myself. Also if your looking for a new game to look into i would suggest Dust an elysian tail. Its got all kinds of references from re4, castlevania, and some appearances from some indie game characters like super meat boy.
In MW2 when playing as Gaz he will always “switch to his sidearm because it’s faster than reloading”. It’s pretty neat detail lmk if he has covered that one already
In COD WW2 if you put a granade on your rifle and inspect your gun, the soldier will not inspect the gun but he will inspect the granade infront of the rifle.
Definitely the Peter pose.😂
For Video Game Easter Eggs: In Zombie Army 4's Ragnarok Part 2 DLC during the first "Survive the Ambush" objective, one of the characters, when giving story exposition about the beginning of the universe, says the line "In primordial space, timeless creatures made waves."
This is referencing the exact same line from Marathon 2 of the famous Marathon series.
In The Hong Kong Massacre, one of the achievements is called "Good Night, Good Luck". This is the slogan used in the advertising for the game Dying Light.
The elevator thing *could* also be a reference to Alien Isolation when a similar event happened, and then the ladder looks somewhat similar to the ones in their as well
Okay the MW2 helicopter being a fish is actually pretty funny
Hell yeah, thanks for including MW2 Fish helicopter
I’m not sure if you’ve shown this 4th wall break before but in destroy all humans reprobed, when in Japan you have to eaves drop some radios to find the white ninja lair. When you get there he will ask you some questions to prove you really are an alien. If you fail his questions the death screen with say something like “shouldn’t have skipped all that dialog”
In FNAF ruin there is a random chance that diferent dialoge may happen, another example is were the shelf staff bot jumpscare there is a voiceline were gregory (the real one, not grimic) tries to contact Casy
I think the sandworm is a double reference to David Lynch. He directed the 1984 version of Dune, which has the three jaw sandworm and the head popping out looks and sounds like the child from his first movie, Eraserhead.
A cool and funny detail I found is in uncharted 2. When you're in Nepal (I think it's Nepal) and get to the old ruins of the hotel, there's a pool on the roof. If you decide to go swimming, Nathan will say "Marco" and if you swim to the deep end, you will get an achievement called "polo"
Love your content and your voice, It fits very good too this type of videos, and also it’s really calming
Thank you!
At 7:31 I realized you didn't know what the actual name of the frog alien was. It was a creature that was removed in the original half-life due to unknown reasons. The creature's name is a Chumtoad. I hope this helps because I know a lot of stuff in half-life.
I had no idea black mesa did a blue shift remake. Hoping they do opposing forces too
Keep an eye out for Operation: Black Mesa, then, as it's supposed to be exactly that - a fan remake of Opposing Force with Black Mesa assets.
Also, technically, Black Mesa: Blue Shift is a fan mod of Black Mesa.
Love that every video starts with a did you know?
In swtor, if you finish the agent storyline and do the ending where you join the republic and then keep going all the way to the shadow of revan, at the end of it you’ll get an extra cutscene where you check in with your handler
3:06 The creatures in Tremors are called Graboids not sandworms.
They're still worms in sand though & therefore sand worms.
@@D_YellowMadness True. I'm just saying that their officially called Graboids.
@@dragonrider7649me personally I'm a Assblaster fan.
I don't know why, but I feel like i've seen that fish inside the sandworm before, and thr scream as well, idk if i'm tripping, but I swear I saw that before
i love the Easter eggs 😂
I think the sandwich part is when you were too close of a near-death scenario I reckon
I doubt you'd want to go through hours of dialogue, when you you first boot up Digimon Survive all the kids are on the main menu. But throughout your playthrough if a kid dies, and you go back to the main menu the kid that died will no longer be on the main menu.
Cassie is supposed to say “that was too close, I was almost a Cassie sandwich” meaning that you didn’t actually do anything, and wherever you heard that it’s not normal for her to say that was a lie
I haven’t been able to get her to say it again. She said it once for me, that’s it.
Your the best captain egg
I second this!
The ruin easter egg was added in an update, I noticed it myself right away when it happened
It wasn’t been there since day 1 Dawko got it in his playthrough when it first came out
7:00 That's definitely the same pose, and it's one Family Guy uses a lot in the show actually and is pretty well known so I'm sure it was intentional. It's just called the 'Family Guy Fall' by most people nowadays and is a common reference made to the show.
Hey, Captain Eggcellent, if you haven't already, please could you cover all Doctor Who easter eggs in gaming? I'm a massive Whovian, so knowing where all of those secrets are would make my day!
Maybe do more secrets on security breach because there’s a lot of secrets still there
Everytime a scifi franchise shows a desert / sand planet, there has to be a sandworm. It's the law.
Beetlejuice had one and it's not a sci-fi movie. Lol
3:08 it kinda remind me of the thresher maws from mass effect 1 and 3 cause if you head in a big area there’s a chance a thresher maw will appear
Whenever he says "on the roof of the house, you'll find this" we all know what's coming
As soon as I saw the pink in the Simpsons house I said, “Simpsons.”
This has nothing to do with Easter eggs but there is a detail in subway surfers where if you run in front of moving trains the lights will blink. Most people probably already know this or maybe people don't know or just never noticed
Please please please cover “body of evidence” it’s got a ton of good Easter eggs and is a super fun mafia cleaning sim
In just die already if you rag doll onto the chicken in the cage in your retirement home room, it shrinks.
The juke of the simpsons house was perfect, I thought it was the simpsons house and you saying breaking bad got me so bad.
Dude,in dead by daylight, just received an update with ALIEN. There's a new map killer, and survivor. Filled with Easter eggs from the movie. You should check it out.
Awesome
i would say the sandworm is inspired from the legendary ps2 game crash nitro kart in out of time map where you can be eaten by a sandstorm which appears on a holes shattered across a certain side of the map
I'm pretty sure there's the same death or knock out pose in family guy from Deadpool when rouge takes over.
Brilliant videos and I did pre ordered starfield and I noticed in one of the skills under crippling level 4 it shows a arrow to the knee. A skyrim Easter egg.
2:51 nah that’s a reference to dreamybull
not sure if you covered this but in TF2 the part of the sentry that supports the back is the steam logo
Did you know? If you pause for to long in borderlands 3,1and pre sequel they will start talking to you
Billie in Billie Bust Up also does Peter Griffin's pose in Barnaby's boss battle
Alert to anybody: worked at Chuck E Cheese for about two years. They don’t recycle the pizza lmao. However, the germs are through the ROOF everywhere. One time we served moldy cheese on pizza. Not good.
i only got that cassie voiceline in ruin my scond time playing the dlc i think that could be why
7:31 CHUMTOAD!!! :D
Eyyyyyy Black Mesa: Blue Shift :)
The Thing with the Elevator in Fnaf Security Breach is a Thing, that always happens at that exact position.
he means cassie says a voiceline that usually isnt activated after the elevator falls
Yeah the elevator falling always happens, but the Cassie voice line doesn’t
@@CaptainEggcellent I watched the Let‘s Play of a lot of Fnaf CZcamsrs ad everytime that elevator fell, Cassie said that sentence. Maybe i just forgot, i don‘t know. If i forgot, that it doesn‘t happen always, then i am sorry.
That sandworm looks more like the gravemind than anything else
my favorite part of High On Life was when Justin would just shut up for once in his life
I don't remember that part, must be really rare
the fnaf dialog is probably a rare acurance just like wen markaplyer saw shadow Bonnie on a projector screan and mark is the only person to ever see shadow Bonnie on the screan
Dune's the most likely originator for sandworms, but Tremors and Beetlejuice, as said by the commenters, may have ingrained the idea far more successfully on the mass media. That's my take on the topic.
Oh, would gladly recommend that you play fanmade expansions to beloved games, for they are at best loads better than official titles at hand. Take for example, FreeSpace 2's FSPort mod expansion Silent Threat: Reborn, which has a Zero Wing reference in one of its latter dramatic missions.
Black mesa blue shift is legit one of the best fan-games i ever played
Plants Vs. Zombies "GARDEN WARFARE" Their is an Easter egg in the map "zomboss Estate" their is q Easter egg hidden in the trees, with the creepypasta of slender man staring at the player in the pumpkin area. And in the "Taco PARTY" DLC, another change happens when slender man gets eaten by a chopper, its pretty cool.
I think the sandworm is a reference to Beetlejuice the movie
Hey there’s a easter egg to marketpliers dad in Doom eternal in the main ship
Gotta love how valve will allow endless remakes of the first game but not bother with the 3rd
Eerm the sand worm is a refrence to beetle juice
Huh well thats really impressive and i love it homie 😍🥰😘💕💞💓💗💖💝💘
4:33 i INSTANTLY knew it was the simpsons
Funny enough Matpat did a look into the whole recycled pizza thing. It's more shitty ovens and a very shitty pizza cutter (trying not to injure young employees) that makes it look like ass. From investigation and talking to lots of old employees :O
i feel like the modern warfare team wouldn't have any issues with lacking helicopter models
3:06 they're called GRABOIDS
I didn't even know you could get a sniper on El Sin Nombre
Yeah there’s an armoury in the garage
Whats this song called how do I find thoes videos with people telling stories over it it's so nastolgic
OK so Im a huge half life nerd and the purple road in black mesa blue shift is actually the chumtoad which is an actual easter egg in the original half life blue shift and it also appeared in half life opposing force
Not me thinking the house was the one from Granny
the sandworm might be a Beetlejuice and binding of issac easteregg
I think im the only one who noticed this, but when you look closely at 4:32 the house has a very similar layout to Granny
1:21 the one that you forget is the 007 easter egg
I think the worm is a reference from beetlgeuse.
4:13 call of duty: let not make a model of a helicopter instead let just put a flying fish in the game and put some lights on it to make it looks like a fish
Me who is watching this video rn:THE FISH IS FLYING YALL
Can you pls do a full vid on the tomb raider remasters
There is another time where you can here someone talk in Fnaf security breach ruin there will be a bot on a shelf if you walk up to him you can here him talk but to get the secret one you have to be lucky the real Gregory will be talking instead of the bot
Sand worm I thought it was like the demogorgan
at 0:18 i instantly got speed flashbacks
Cassady was to close to the elevator crash so that's probably why
The sandwormigoran (demigorgan reference?)
anyone else hope there's a barney mind easter egg in Black mesa blue shift ?
Considering it’s Security Breach, it could be that it’s just a glitch and it’s suppose to happen all the time?
i like his "this will happen"
I like you
You forgot about the sandeorm from Beetlejuice.
6:57 hehehehehehehehehe
Roadhouse
