I love "older" frames that are given a face lift with modern components. So cool.
I’m the same. There are certain old frames that look sooo good!
Perfection.
Splendid. The silver/black differentiation to the QR & brakes & cables is 🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼
I’m still working on a ‘98 Cannondale CAD3 in a deep blue color with yellow logos. Found it abandoned by a college student and put out with the trash on the curb. Original 8 speed 105 and brakes, Modolo Flash bars and stem and a Shimano WH-R560 wheel set. This video helped spur me on and to keep at it. Thank you.
I have the red version of this frame and i honestly think its one of the coolest road frames ever made and still holds up really well with good components
Amazing attention to detail.
Campa and Cannondale is always a good fit imo but in this case, the partly silver polished Sram rear derailleur matches just perfect.
Rim decal delete is a must, glad you have the same taste.
Cheers!
WOW! What am I seeing? A 2007 SystemSix in the beautifully exposed fused version? There is literally nothing on youtube showcasing the awesomeness of this bike but a couple amateur clips, I have waited years! I own this frame NOS in 60cm from 07 but never built it up, always wondered what it would look like with modern comp 😅 🔥 perfection, great job 👍🏼
Ps. I have the original ‘fat n ugly’ stem people used to say 😂 I think its nice
I saw your two builds showcased on GCN and thats brought me to your channel. Love the builds and will be sticking around for awhile. Your attention to detail is amazing and it gives me inspiration for my bike! I just rebuilt a 2005 Interloc Impala and am loving the steel frame!
Thanks and welcome to the channel!
Nice video. Glad to see someone building up older bikes. I have the same bike, stock condition. Old model but still performs well... better than most current bikes (which cost a lot more).
Nicely done 👌 Looks better than many of the newer models
Would love to see you build a bike with the new Emonda ALR frameset
I’ve got an old six13 aluminium / carbon frameset and this has inspired me to do something cool with it! Incredible video ❤
Amazing build - you've just made my day! Totally in love
The attention to detail is spot-on, esp on the brake cable made two-tone color to match the area where the carbon meets the al. 👌
So glad I found this channel, the editing is spot on and your component choices are so good. Keep up the work!
You mention saving weight on the rim tape, but won't the rim be lighter if they drill holes for the spokes? Haha.
Thanks. Rim tape is 20-30g it’s 100% heavier than drilled holes. Plus it makes the rim stronger and so much easier to work with during tubeless setup
What a fantastic video, build, edit, my favorite part was the bottle cage, hubs, rim brakes, because they fit the theme and color so so well. great work!
Thanks man!
Great attention to detail in parts and color choices
Amazing bike!!! Which frame size is it? External cable routing is just amazing and so easy!
another amazing project done! really beautiful beautiful bike 😍
Thanks mate
Lovely details in this build, sets it apart. Chapeau
I laughed out loud when you said it's more comfortable than the Aethos, they worked so hard to create comfort when aluminium has been there all along and 2007 Cannondale created a more comfortable frameset, given you've modified the touch points and wheels etc and it's lighter than the UCI limit. I can't wait to build up my CAAD10 rim brake bike now. You've got me so motivated. Great video, thank you
Aethos is just very stiff. It’s a great bike though and the frame is just half the weight of SystemSix.
Good luck with your project!
As Cannondale lover you know this video was great to see Oleg. Another awesome build with your typical attention to detail. Top draw! Lets ride our System6's together some time.
I knew you would like it, man! Definitely up for a ride with you 👊🏼
Wow. Currently building my ssix evo 2016 frame back up after switching to disc a couple years ago. Going to look into the wheels you've used here and other components.
There is a $100 off code in the description of the video on the Farsports wheels ;)
@@TwistedWheels thank you!
Nice build! I have the same exact crank and i wanna sand it down too! How did you do it?
Amazing build. I'm just in love with your builds. ❤
Thanks
My daily bike is a 2005 Trek Madone 5.2, and I want to do something similar to what you did. I think I'm going to watch this video slowly several times.
🤤🤤🤤 I need to build something like this as well. Was thinking about an old Cadex with newer parts, but maybe its a bit too old.
Really nice build.
Have the same frame (fortunately in a very very good original condition) and a quite similar build. eeBrake, Hollowgram crankset. Not as clean as yours because I like decals on wheels so the older "Reynolds" in white are perfect.
What I really don't like on your build is the eTap. So bulky front and I REALLY hate empty cable stoppers. Also I think only the original Stem matches the headtube.
By the way: You placed the bottom bracket spindle the wrong way (doesn't really matters). The fixed side is on the non drive side. Spacers ans wave washer on the drive side.
Олег, офигенно круто! Отличное видео, приятный байк. Если нет гор/грязи ободные тормоза рулят, куда меньше проблем и обслуживания по сравнению с гидрой и куда практичнее дисковой механики. Много плюсов за AXS
Beautiful ride. Do you have a link to the skewers?
Sorry, I bought them over 5 years ago 😬
Built up a 2005 SIX13 this year. LOVE these 20 year old carbon/aluminum frames.
Six13 was my original plan. I’ve even bought one! But then decided to go with the systemsix.
@@TwistedWheels I had a SIX13 with Sram Red mechanical and Easton tubulars, size 60cm frame, weigh in at 6.57 kg. Sold it....
Super glad I found a replacement frame that fits be better at 58cm this year and Dura-Ace 7800 isn't as light as Sram Red but shifts better than any other Shimano mechanical groupset.
I've got Chorus 12 I plan on installing soon, because well, campag and all.
WOW!!! Another awesome built!! I'm about to completely rebuild my 2007 CAAD8 and were dreading the paint/clearcoat removal process. So obviously sanding is a no go as I also know the original clearcoat is crazy thick. So what method did "Pete" finally use to get it to such a pristine state? Any info would be much apprecated!!!
Thanks!
So I used the paint stripper which removed most of the clear coat and then Pete used sand paper and dremel with various bits to get it to that condition.
The problem with my frame is that it is moulded to front carbon triangle, so you have to be very careful. Fully aluminium frames should be easier to remove paint from. Good luck!
@@TwistedWheels Thanks for the speedy reply. Suggestion, if you don't mind, for a future built. I love those weight-weenie builts, but they're not cheap. I know... can't go light without the expensive bits. But maybe see how light you can built without spending a fortune. See how close you can get to 6.8 without selling a kidney!! 🤣Just a thought. Look forward to more great videos here!!!
Did this with a beautiful 2006 CAAD8 (similarly, last gen handmade in the US), put modern 11s ultegra on it and it RIPS. Pretty light, 18lbs 4oz with pedals & computer!
I'm picking up a 2015 CAAD10 tomorrow from a guy who hardly rode it.. Its basically brand new. Plan is to move my ultegra groupset from my steel bianchi over to it.. But this video has me inspired to get a little more creative with components
how wide where the wheels? wondering how wide you can go with wheels and tyres on these frames. I have a CAAD 8 as a second bike that i love to ride to the cafe and would love to get some carbon deep section wheels on it.
Can’t remember. 19 or 21 mm. You can find info on farsports.com
Great! What’s the bartape?
Great build and video. Thank you. Big fan of your channel.
Thanks. Glad you enjoy it!
The taper cone spacer worked out perfectly.
I am sure that weight penalty more then off set the original massive system six stem and spacer combo
Oh yeah, that’s for sure. The original stem was close to 200g grams 😱
Any feedback about the paint stripping method ? Been stuck at 1min23 for month on my Six 13 renovation ? How did Pete do? Carefull blasting ?
You need to be very careful. Eventually Pete and I used Dremel with various bits to remove the remainings of the clear coat.
How did you black out the wheels? Tape? Sanding? Paint? Love your stuff, and glad you seem to like Cannondales, they're my favorite (I ride a caad12 rim)!
Just removed the stickers
Спасибо за отличный ролик! Буду очень благодарен если сможешь подробнее рассказать как подбираешь и ищешь системы, звёздочки, вилку и переходники, какие стандарты есть.
Love the video, and such a cute little helper you got there ❤
What a handsome looking build! How did you manage to remove the decal on the wheels by the way?
They are standard decals, so hear them up with a hairdryer and remove
Im going to build my 2007 systemsix up after all these years 😅 I want a campy 10 setup too with hollowgram crank? do I need adapters, how do I go about this? What did you plan on doing… Id need a campy wheel/freebody too? Like a fulcrum ect…?
Dream bike ❤
You’ve inspired me
Thing of beauty! Well done, really enjoyed it ;)
Thanks
Man that brutalist style of those brakes fir that carbon/alu frame so well. Very cool.
What brand are the (non) quick releases?
Wondering how you finished removing the rear clear coat? And also did you reapply any form of clear coat? I have the same model which I love, but would like to bring it back to it's best
Sand paper by hands + dremel with various bits/heads.
I did not reapply any clear coat
I like this build! One question: what brand is that helmet your using?
Sweet Protection Outrider
If you don’t mind me asking, which fork expander plug did you use for this build?
THIS BIKE IS FOR SALE! - send me a DM in Instagram if you are interested.
Use code TWISTED-WHEELS for 100 USD off any www.farsports.com wheels!
Use code TWISTED-BAR FOR 50 USD off the Farsports F1 handlebar!
Why are selling it away? Piece of art.
how did you treat the cranks, just sanded down the black coating, nothing else?
Yep
Color matching the brakes to their respective sides? Chef’s kiss.
Lovely bike and nice choice of components. After testing them what do you think about the fake EEbrakes ?
I always wondered how this compares to my CAAD10 and Supersix Evo. Heard they were super stiff
I've been thinking about this build and was wondering if you would ever do a full aluminum rear wheel (something with aluminum spokes or maybe a vintage aluminum disk?) and a full carbon front wheel like a syncros one piece
9:00 Super nice build, but why use counterfeit breaks one such a nice bike.
What kind of bar tape is that?
I love your attention to details
Any problems with tire clearance in the back?
No
I ride rim brake full carbon bike in 2023) and its much easier to maintain. Stopping power is the same with hydro discs, easy to stop from 70 km/h. Also it is lightweight
Yep, that's a beauty. So well considered, almost the best part of any bike build 🙂
What quick releases did you use?
I don’t remember the name of the brand. I bought them 5-ish years ago
I agree, no logos on the wheels. I always remove mine
How did you get the anodizing off the cranks? Or are they an older model?
Sanded them
@@TwistedWheels good job, manually 💪 or with a sander?
@@jgjonasson mostly manually + dremel in tight places
Wonderful thanks, goes on the to do list 👍
This is stunning. So much more sexier than the bloated, heavy disc brake road bikes of today
What are the brake cables you’re using?
They are Nokon
Silver for the cranks look amazing, whoever designed those cranks needs an award too 😅
Great build!
awesome bike.Look great
Beautiful 🤩
Beautiful bike! I try to buy one here in Argentina, but what I saw was very ugly. Lots of corrosion in the unions at such point that the aluminium had lots of pores. Also the BB was hit with something. My hope went to the ground... I will wait to another oportunity but these kind of frame are very rare here.
I’m actually selling this bike. Drop me DM in Instagram!
No way do you still have that Tokyo Morvelo jersey! Fits with the era of the bike and the colour scheme 😁.
I know! The only old jersey that I haven’t sold. Love the design 🤘🏼
@@TwistedWheels yeah I still have a couple at the back of the cupboard, I used to run the club rides when I worked for Tokyo Fixed, good times.
Need this!!
It’s for sale - contact me in Instagram, if you are interested
I’ve always wanted one of these. Great build. Good choice of bar tape too!
This bike is for sale! I can offer a very good price. Drop me a DM in Instagram if you are interested
heyyyy! what ara these brake cables?
Nokon
27mm tyres had enough clearance?
Yep
Beautiful 👌
You always make videos of the things I'd like to do. Thank you, haha!
Sorry! Haha
No, dont be! I love it.
Anyway we like Oleg's bikes!✌️
Great build
Thanks 🙏🏼
Lovely!!!!
Я посмотрел все или почти все видео на канале и не могу понять почему такой шикарный контент и всего 15к подписчиков. Не иначе как алгоритмы ютуба делают какие-то тёмные дела.
Не иначе как заговор!
Clicked' like 'before i watched it!! 👍👍
That’s the way to go! :)
noice!
FINALLY, a rim brake build... instead of all the boring clone disc brake builds out there 😴😴😴😴😴 and my opinion, wheels looked better with the decals.
So nice.
Beautiful frame, elegant build. Yet, when you attach a saddle one can hardly sit on (pun intended), at least adjust it level, not with the nose down.
I’ve been riding this saddle on all my road bikes since 2018. The saddle is installed flat. The rear wheel is lifted if you haven’t noticed
Completely and utterly perfect.
👌🏼thanks
😁 Молодец! 😍Wonderful bike, mate! 👌
Спасибо!
clean bike is beautiful bike
lovely...
Great build puts all these modern bikes to shame 😂😂
I always prefer rim bikes than the upgraded disc one's...
I prefer rim brakes over* disc ones* (plural, no apostrophe)
siiiiiiiiiiick
Мега! ❤
Rim brakes are great but the industry always look for better and to get more money out of our pockets
Oh she's a beauty 😍
