These are terrific boots, extremely comfortable and they last decades. I own two pairs and wear them all the winter. The Government should provide a pair to every person to keep death rates lower in winter.
My Panama Jack Bota Igloo in cognac nappa are 23 years old and still going strong. They’re toasty in winter and reasonably regular greasing keeps them looking like new.
Thanks for the feedback peramies72, good to hear PJ have a presence in Finland too where the climate demands quality footwear during the cooler months :)
Bought my first pair of Havana Joe boots (black) in the early 90’s. Bought my second pair - Panama Jacks (brown) in Spain in ‘99. I still own and wear both pairs. As a former Marine, I knew how to properly polish them which is why they look virtually brand new nearly 30 years later. ☝️🥴👞✨
Please do share some advice or resources as to properly polish boots like these! Experience like you have is truly hard to find in the jungle that is the internet 😅
I love Havana Joe/Panama Jack shoes. I used to wear Havana Joe's constantly throughout the 1990s. For about the last 15 years it was extremely difficult to get Havana Joe/Panama Jack shoes in the U.S. However, just a week ago I was able to order a pair of Panama Jacks online. They arrived and they're fantastic. Only one problem: the box did not contain the extra pair of laces and shoe wax that used to always come with every pair of Havana Joes. I'm not sure if this a new company policy that they don't provide the extra laces and wax anymore or whether it was an oversight just with my order. Anyways, the shoes are marvelous.
It should have come with a second pair of laces, horse oil and a leather bag, at least this is how it comes in Spain, maybe you buy it from some external seller, anyway thew quality is the same, they are fantastic
@@o_z_k_a_rp_l3772 Thanks for the info. They are indeed fantastic shoes. I actually emailed Panama Jack directly last week and they said the extra laces, bag and oil only come with the more popular models, like the ankle boot. I got the shoes.
My favourite shoes and I think they r life time shoes.i bought 7 years back no 6 style shoes from Westfield London and 2 years back another pair but light brown color but both r looking new yet.like your money is not going to waste. Comfortable, feel good, easy to walk and give ur feet protection and most importantly make ur personality better then timberland. .....
Great boot. I’ve two pairs and very happy with them. Did put a thicker, more padded insole into them though as the insole that came with them is a bit flimsy/thin.
Hi John, thanks for the comment. I wonder how old your boots are? Maybe it was an older spec? We've not had any negative feedback regarding the thickness / quality of the insole but I'll definitely pass that information onto our sales rep when we see them next time in Spain. Thanks!
I've been given to understand that, as a brand, their sizes run a touch small? As a UK 9, would I be safer to order a size 10? I've never owned a pair, but the dark brown bota boots look like something I should get my hands(feet) on.
Thanks for the message. They're made in EU sizes so as a UK 9, we'd send a pair marked as a 43. From experience, they're pretty much true to size. Jumping up to the UK 10 (EU 44) may be a touch generous for you unless you plan to wear them with a slightly thicker sock in which case you should be fine.
@@arthurknight2417 No they are not true to size. It is commonly known that they run up to a half size small. You are correct about the width though - not a true wide but very accommodating for a broader foot.
I purchased two pairs because I couldn't make up my mind which ones I liked the most. I chose the napa grass boata and the vintage chucka boats and decided to wear the napa grass boata for light work. However three months in and I have noticed that already one of the toes has worn through revealing a very thin veneer of leather moulded over another cheaper material which is white in colour. Needless to say that for £125 00. I'm not impressed at all. Ive bought walking boots in the past for similar money and had at least five years constant use out of them. Beware these books are not as rugged as they look.
Great questions! Panama Jack don't recommend to resole these shoes and boots. They are stitched around the forepart and cemented with glue so not Goodyear welted. It's best to consider a purchase with the mindset that once they are worn out, they need to be discarded.
I have a pair of Havana Joes that are approximately 30 years old and have resoled them. The newer shoes may be a bit different, but it may depend on the place where you go to have them resoled.
@@scooterm3883 what sole did you choose to resole it with? i just picked up a pair secondhand recently and i've been wondering what my options are down the line.
My cousin had the dark brown model and he resoled it whent he sole was in bad conditions, while the rest of the boot was looking nice yet. He said it was the best product he had ever bought, so he better resoled them before buying any new pair of shoes, and the man who resoled his boots is a man who gets an extra money repairing shoes, so he has experience doing these kind of works. Later his brother bought the shoes in the same color, due to his brother's experience. I knew they were made in Spain but, as MANY OTHER THINGS, i thought they were a foreign brand which production was located in Spain )))). I don't know if the new models have changed but I don't think they can't be resoled.
This video is titled "Panama Jack, 5 reasons why you should not throw them away". One of them is that you can resole them with a similar sole and enlarge its life. czcams.com/video/WGG4uV7_YLI/video.html
So the shoes are labelled waterproof, but really aren't? I will stick to Caterpillar boots! And saying that the shoes are made in Spain, makes no difference. The only thing Spain is good at these days is their food & women.
I own two pairs of Panama Jack. Though it has stitching under the outsole, I've worn them in extreme snow weather in Siberia and floods in South America and never had my feet wet. So I say it's pretty waterproof.
@@wetiot I can read your mind better than you can read yours . I own 3 pairs of PJ and they are of superior beauty and quality . You talk salty about PJ and Spain . Comparing Cats to PJ is like comparing hyundai to mercedes benz . Most people that talk about cats cant afford Timberlands PJ's etc. so they talk salty and express opinions about products that are made by people far superior than them .

Decades?! That is exceptional. Normally, two or three seasons is considered 'hardy'. Thanks for the feedback!
They are slippery though!, but overall they are magnificent

Exactly
Great boots. Quality leather and very well made. Costs about same or only little more as Timberland boots in Finland but are way better.

Hey Drew, Which website did you use to purchase Panama Jack shoes/boots in the U.S.? P.S. I also have 2 pair of Havana Joe boots from the 1990's. Tim

I have yellow bota chukka 2 yrs now. I could live in them. Best boots ever.
the boot is typically the front mid engine
I have my original Havana Joe shoes from 1995-ish. Still rock solid, I have a pair in brown and one in black. Love them!

Arthur Knight both pairs are just coming up for three years old. To be fair I’m probably a bit fussy😁
Great video, really. These would be my first proper pair of boots, can they be worn in hotter temps to when hiking or working? Thanks again
How do we know we should change our pairs of Panamá Jack boots? Every 4 years? Are there signs that tell us to stop using then?
Amazing shoes

what about women's ones? do another video?

Aonde posso comprar estas botas . Qual o endereço no Panama ( qual tenda )
Where can I get your shoes in the UK please 🙏🏿
Google mastershoe Trowbridge they carry boot range at good prices
Do they run large? Im a size 9 but should I buy a 8.5?
I find they’re just right. I wear a size 10 and a 10 in these is perfect
