+Davinator1212 speaking of families from normal monsters, will geminis ever have anything playable? I first thought Gemini and pendulum summon but still not worth it with how power crept things are
***** thanks for the responses, definitely do a vid one day. Hopefully it can catch up and not be as abandoned as the noble knights (which they really put a lot of work in making the box though the cards aren't that good).
I think the high level vanillas with relatively equal ATK and DEF were supposed to play on the idea that they were more balanced in ATK and DEF, and therefore worth the tribute(s). Of course, 2 seconds of thought would make anyone realize that it's not how this game is played, but then again, I doubt Konami thought this game would become as competitive as it is today when they first created it.
ShadeSlayer1911 Because there are some cards that change opponents position, some vanilla cards with around the same atk and def means that the card use to change its position might not affect you as much... but they still suck. XD
Davinator1212 to be honest with you i prefer the old cards not these pendulum cards and synchro and xz monsters it just makes the game easier in my opinion
The Lv 5 Monster is too good. I mean, he is bad, but not 100% bad. You can summon a Cyberdragon, Summon a Big Rat and destroy the Rat for him. So you have the Material for a No. 61 Volcasaurus.
Yu-Gi-Oh! player: "Why did you make the Stone Dragon like that, he sucks!" Konami: We just wanted to see if there would be any douchebags who would actually use it"
I see where he gets it though, on dismissing the French meaning. The common use of the French word is "Petite" in English counties since it's mostly associated with marketing towards females(so it's easy for a country that doesn't have masculine and feminine words to not get) , though the masculine version is without the "e" being "Petit". Though the borrowed English version is more focused on something that is lesser or minor, in a sense he is correct as well, this is the English translation of game, and they want to play up the card like a magikarp.
Ufukcan Gencoglu I never understood why people think a fusion card that leaves after the turn you summon it with a subpar effect is amazing. I understand it was mainly In gx but they're just... why...
new man, if you ever ran any verient of syncro fish you'd know that odd attbute lv 4 fish cards were a godsend if you ran a legendary ocean and fish decks were normaly (or at least mine was) pretty heavy on discarding and recycling quckdraw, celocanth, divian wrath, drill warrior, metabo-shark, pot of avrice and many other recycle cards
Ryou Woodware Well, I only remember it from way back when the game was new, and I saw this Level 4 Flying Fish with like 800 Attack and I think 400 Defense. Didn't really know about Synchro Fish until much later after it was a thing, so I just remember Flying Fish being really sucky.
Flying Fish isn't the worst Level 4 Normal for both all reasons listed in this thread and an additional one: it's WIND, which gives Rescue Rabbit and Fish Swarm access to Lightning Chidori.
Your Petit Moth reasoning isn't really valid when you consider the possibility to summon one of the strongest early monsters in the game, perfectly ultimate great moth.
+DanJa Vu Yes, possibility. All the same, the possibility adds weight to the monsters value and thus prevents it from the the worst when there are other objectively more appropriate options for that title. Essentially, any lack in value the monster has for being associated with larva moth is extinguished by its association with one of the strongest early monsters.
DanJa Vu When you consider you have cards that are equally as bad that do not porduce a high attack monster like petit moth, it is absolutely not the "worst". Keep in mind, there are monsters like thousand eyes idol who are weaker and do not produce a stronger monster.

Sengenjen is amazing! He has more attack then the dark magician! Wow. You loved my comment? Huh. I guess you have second thoughts about putting him on the list now :) Well since I know you noticed me, I can say that you should'ent put monsters on the list because of bad stats. Unless they have a high level, there not horrible, There just defensive.

I use many equips too but why would you tribute summon a freaking level 5 with 1300 atack, just to waste your equip on it, when you can just summon a strong level 4, or a worthing level 5 ? Some cards are usless.
Early on, Konami seemed to have this idea that a monster with balanced but average ATK and DEF could be just as good as a monster with high ATK or DEF. So there were a lot of cards like Ancient One of the Deep Forest. Usually, a high-power level four monster would have 1800 ATK and little to no defense. The idea behind Ancient One was that, while it wasn't that much /stronger,/ it was harder to get off the field as forcing it into defense position wouldn't make it easier to destroy in battle. It's combined ATK and DEF is 3700, which is the same as Summoned Skull's. This is also the logic for Dark Magician's terrible stats. Even though it has the same ATK as Summoned Skull, it's total ATK and DEF is 4600 versus Summoned Skull's 3700. So even though their ATK is equal, Dark Magician is better when you consider that it also has higher defense. Not saying this makes those cards any better, it is a terrible idea that just makes these cards extremely situational, but it does show that there was some form of logic behind designing the cards this way.
What about giga gagagigo he is a lvl 5 water reptile and if you run him with say Atlanteans he becomes really powerful because you can just put out a legendary ocean and then you can pop a 2450 no tributes. i think he is the exception to the "all vanilla lvl 5s suck" don't you

Andrethegiant2008 perfectly ultimate great moth is quite possibly the hardest card to summon in the entire game which also makes it the worst card in the entire game
I think they need to add a new mechanic for normal monsters. Right now there is pretty much no purpose to play them unless you're playing blue eyes, dark magician, or elemental heroes, or something classic like those. I think it would be neat if you could sacrifice all special summons for that turn and allowing an unlimited amount of normal monster summons. This way, you can't just extra deck spam your opponent to death on your first turn. Actually, now that I think about it, we don't really need that restriction in the first place; you'll only have so many normal monsters in your hand unless you're like Joey and only have 40 normals in your deck, but still
Andrew Phillips Yeah, removes every monster on the graveyard and multiplies the amount of them by 200. Also, Snapesnatch depending on the oponent could be a power house.
Giga Gagagigo is a level 5 vanilla monster that isn't bad. With A Legendary Ocean on the field, he can be summoned without tribute and will be 2650/1700.
To roughly quote some stupid shit about how the French language works from the internet: "petite is used to describe something that can be percieved as feminine, petit is used for masculine." So Petit Moth is a male... and also not a moth
with a name like "Soul Eater" deserves to have an ability. I remember in Yu-Gi-Oh! the Duelist of the Roses, Soul Eater can banish every monster from the Graveyards and gain 200 points for every banished monster on either Graveyards.
Flame dancer is a level 2 normal Monster that means it exists cards supporting it like "mass-attacking strategy" and "triangle power" (I hope I write it correctly)
why to hate on petit moth and his evolutions throughout the Yugioh communtiy?!? Personally, i like the insect type and want to make decks with them, one main center piece would be petit moth, but come on!! Worst level one?!? There are monsters with lower attack and defense at level 1 yet petit moth, an insect that could become stronger than a vanilla Blue eyes is the worst?!? Bull.
Back when Ancient One got released, you generally didn't see 1800 attack, no sacrifice, without a drawback. There were just plain better at one sacrifice, but it still got over or walled most no tributes at the time.
Back when I was still pretty new I built up a perfect strategy to summon 5 headed dragon and was about to summon it until I found out dragon is a whole other thing and stone dragon wasn't one
Ummm did you forget about a legendary ocean? Because that made gagagigo a 2650 normal summon beatstick for back in the day and terror king salmon a 2600 beatstick.and they are both level 5 star monsters
I have never heard of the term "Vanilla Monster". I always called it a normal monster so to hear it called something else. It took some getting used too.
Despite this being old, I'm still gonna argue that Leo Wizard is truly the worst Normal Monster. Requires a Tribute and neither of it's stats go over 1400.
Not sure if anyone mentioned it, but Petit Moth IS pronounced the same way as "petite"; the lack of an e at the end happens to be the French spelling. And the only thing it's useful for is in a Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth deck... which wasn't exactly a feasible thing even back then. (I tried to make a PUGM deck based on Weevil Underwood's deck in both Eternal Duelist Soul & Worldwide Edition on Gameboy Advance...promptly scrapped it because I couldn't figure out any useful support.)
Very curious as to how Morphiphen didn't make the list. Like it's so bad it's attack is horrendous but JUST high enough so that you can't even summon it with Mystic Tomato or any of those recruiters back in the day.
I had a friend who called Thousand Eyes Idol "the weakest and most worthless card in the game". Adn this was back when Duelist Kingdom was still the anime arc! That's right, he saw Pegasus fuse that thing with Reliqunished to summon Thousand Eyes Restrict and STILL called it the most worthless card.
Three words: Thousand Eyes Idol! 0 ATK, 0 DEF. It's only purpose is to serve as a fusion material for Thousand Eyes Restrict, which odds are you might not even have to begin with
I got Ancient One of the Deep Forest out of one of those coin push machines that give you shit like stickers and sticky hands. Really tells you about its usefulness.
The Moth Deck is actually pretty good. So Petit and Larva Moth and it’s evolution is pretty good since it has a lot of support cards, so no card is useless.
Petit and petite mean the game thing; the E just stops the T from being silent. It has something to do with whether the noun is masculine or feminine in French.
I'm not sure if anybody has said this on any of the comments yet, but 1212(december the 12th) is the day when Korea was taken over by a millitary coup mere weeks after the former president(also a military ruler) was assassinated, and in Korea that day is conveniently called "the calamity of 12. 12 "
***** It's a bit unfortunate, since if it was called twelve twelve then that would match the how the Koreans say 12. 12 Anyways this video was awesome, I was laughing so hard at a few of the entries
I actually made a deck once around perfectly ultimate great moth and it turned out to be pretty good. But it's also true it was made on ygopro so I used some anime exclusive cards like turn jump...but still
Souleater's only useful in Duelist of the Roses, since it cannibalized every Monster in both Graveyards if it started a turn in face-up Defense and added 200 Attack per monster.
I know this video is 4 years old, but "rock is one of the most under-supported types" obviously because when they get decent generic support and a possibly meta deck Konami says "Oh hech no!" and bans all the decent rock support and some of the archetype specific stuff too. -Written by a salty gem-knight player who wants our best spell and our lego lizard back Edit: looked at the actual date of the video and realizing that this video is exactly 5 years old today, March 20 2021.
These cards were from forbidden memories in which they were really useful , the game mechanic then didn't do tributing and could fuse cards without poly
I have to disagree with Petit Moth being on your list because you picking it goes against your reasoning for not choosing other cards. The reason you don't choose other bad cards is because they could conceivably be used. Well, Petit Moth turns into Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth which, for most players, is at least a fun challenge to get out. People build decks around it for fun. Several of the video games even give you an award for playing it because it's notoriously hard to Summon because you have to protect Petit Moth for 6 of your own turns. For just that alone, I would say Petit Moth isn't the worst Level 1 vanilla out there.
I have never seen a higher level of premium grade, freshly cut, high quality Bullshit in all my life. I'll level with you buddy. I BUILT PUGM. I played it for almost a goddamn week because of this guy (Davinator12-manyfavors). And I'll have you know, while opinions don't really hold weight in general, yours is most certainly wrong. let's use statistics. I played roughly around 126 games (If you dont believe, I have the fucking replays, and its horrid, I have PTSD flashbacks just thinking about this god awful time in my life caused by my friend who happens to be not only a Yugi tuber but apparently also a Sadist.) and out of all of them, I had a whopping total 0 out of 126 games where I enjoyed myself, 0 out of 126 games where I felt my deck building skill was tested, 0 out of 100 percent chance I will ever use such a shitty deck that revolves around a useless ass level one vanilla. Petit Moth isnt just here because its the worse. its also here because it gives players the same small thought in their feeble minds. the same dream that we all have thought of at least once in our lives: "ya know, maybe... just maybe I could make Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth work. It can't be that hard, right?" it is then that thousands of hours later, when you're lying on the ground, with a half empty beer can in one hand and burnt out cigarrette in the other, wondering where your life went wrong, it all comes back to you in the dead of night, screaming and hollering "YOU WANTED THIS. YOU THOUGHT PUGM COULD EVER BE A THING, NOW SUFFER FOR YOUR SINS TO MANKIND." Petit Moth stands for all that is wrong in this world, he leads all the young kids to trying to uncover its mysteries. If you can honestly disagree with a man whos been to hell and back with the worst Vanilla Monster in Yugioh History, then you get the fuck off this video because it just isnt for you. This is the way of Life. Opinions stand. he hates petit moth, you disagree . The story ends. I love fruit rollups.
Jeez, did you ever take that personally. However, despite your bad experience with it, the point is that it was designed with a purpose in mind, and having any sort of purpose, reguardless of how weak, was his reasoning to keep cards off the list. My point was that he's contradicting himself, not that PUGM was in any way a good, viable deck that wins.
Honestly, you just sound like you're nitpicking. Not many people go on a Top 10's list and not enjoy it because the person contradicted themself. (-.-)v
I didn't say I didn't enjoy it. I simply disagreed with a single choice, as one might do on a Top 10 list of anything ever, and gave a reason why I disagreed. You flipped your shit on me because you have personal problems with Petit Dragon and seem to think the worst of me for not finding it the worst Level 1 Normal Monster.
"All Level 5 monsters suck"
Giga Gagagigo sighs heavily.
I can agree with that.
Qliphort scout weeps too
+Davinator1212 speaking of families from normal monsters, will geminis ever have anything playable? I first thought Gemini and pendulum summon but still not worth it with how power crept things are

Cyber-Tech Alligator anyone?
I think a lot of useless cards were to pad out the booster packs so there were more cards
or they were used in the anime/manga as cannon fodder for yugi's monster when he's not fighting kaiba or the season's main villain
yah but the artwork makes them fun to collect anyway
Bandit Keith Brother!?
Simple Man1 I make the rules. Okay haha
Sergenjin was a good card when it come out.
"You could TECHNICALY play it in a MACHINE deck"
Was that an international pun.
I barely have any cards, and yet, I owned almost every card on this list..
Dam that is yugioh
Shapesnatch can also be brought out with mystic tomato. So tier 0 confirmed

Ah yes just like Stone Dragon, a level 7 2000 atk 2300 def monster
basically if your monsters are 2000 points and requires 2 sacrifices then its crap
Davinator1212 in that case it better be a good effect lol
Davinator1212 to be honest with you i prefer the old cards not these pendulum cards and synchro and xz monsters it just makes the game easier in my opinion

silent abyss tho
Stone Dragon used to named "Stone D.", because that's what the designer of this card was when he made this shitty thing.
I love putting my stone d in uranus
ScreenCasterz XD
HIS INTRO.... THE CRINGE.... HELP.....
the content is fine it is just the intro...
Well, we made the intro to kinda be a tongue-in-cheek/making fun of the fact that its a children's card game.
But sure....cringe works.
but the voice.....
it just doesn't match the person
***** this is the first video I've seen and I didn't expect you to sound like that lol
Davinator1212 Triggered Weeb.
its not just a dragon....its a rock!
a big friendly rock!!! back in the day the duelists used to throw these babies at people who used mirror force all the time!!!!!
Shawn Swafford my red eyes black metal dragon is somehow a machine not a dragon. yugioh logic everyone!
OMG A GIANT ROCK!
Shawn Swafford That's not a dragon in my pants.
its a rock ;)
WOW! A giant rock! It's a rock.. And it's giant!
Cyber Tech Aligator is a level 5 vanilla that doesn't suck ;P
Bozhidar Kolarov Ikr I love cyber tech alligator, lv5 machine attack2500 def1200
Bozhidar Kolarov Terroking Salmon, too.
***** Yeah, but he's got 2400 ATK.
michael hall and is technically a level 4 with 2600 attack if you run a legendary ocean.
GAMEPRODELTA that combos fun in the video games.
Ancient One of the Deep Forest was a staple in my early Yu-gi-oh days. He always will have a special place in my heart.
Yes, I sucked.
skull servant is the most op vanilla in exsistance
kabazauls can make laggia and dolka with rabbit
Rebel3000 blue eyes white dragon enables meta shitz xd
MolotowCocktail24 do you not know the destructive might ikf the skull?
MolotowCocktail24
Now it's Dolkka, Laggia or Toadally Awesome
I was prepared to yell at you about leaving Flame Dancer out of the list because I didn't think you knew what it was, but you got it. Nice
Dark magician=best because if there are no monsters left on the field you can summon it and declare direct attack
Nice reference.
Yu-Gi-Oh! player:
"Why did you make the Stone Dragon like that, he sucks!"
Konami:
We just wanted to see if there would be any douchebags who would actually use it"
You jest...but I think you're on to something.
OOOOH! I thought of a great use for these cards. Starter for a fireplace.
Crish Crash agreed
davinator1212 be looking like zangief with green hands.
Eh... Stone Dragon was pretty useful in the PS Forbidden Memories. 😂
Malicious Affection And that's why it's so shit now. Back then (pre OCG), the game was more like elemental rock/paper/scissors a la Pokémon.
Forbidden Memories only follows the basics, kind of like the anime season 1.
You don't play pokemon right? haha I Agree until the rock/paper/scissors..
I just used it for Rock Bombardment fodder

At least Lightning Conger has cool artwork. About all I can say for it.
So based on your list. Earth is the worst attribute. 8/10 cards were earth lol.
Chris Collins What if it's not the worst, but rather the most common back when most of these cards were made?
@@autobotstarscream765 yeah, I'd say Wind is the worst
Top 10 worst cards with excellent artwork. though most the Neos fusions would br up there
those are really good tho

I say all the normal monsters are neat at some point we ran them when we all your new to the game.
I still run vanilla cards today with my igknights hehe xD

Dark magician has support.

I think it would be neat if you could sacrifice all special summons for that turn and allowing an unlimited amount of normal monster summons. This way, you can't just extra deck spam your opponent to death on your first turn.
Actually, now that I think about it, we don't really need that restriction in the first place; you'll only have so many normal monsters in your hand unless you're like Joey and only have 40 normals in your deck, but still
In Duelists of the Roses, Souleater can be pretty OP
Andrew Phillips Yeah, removes every monster on the graveyard and multiplies the amount of them by 200. Also, Snapesnatch depending on the oponent could be a power house.
Davinator1212 It's my favorite Yu-Gi-Oh! game. I like the fact that you play similar to Yugi and Joey vs Para and Dox in the series.
Andrew Phillips Souleater is cute
Giga Gagagigo is a level 5 vanilla monster that isn't bad. With A Legendary Ocean on the field, he can be summoned without tribute and will be 2650/1700.
4:38 remember when Red Eyes battled that monster?
Thomas Murphy nope
You can see that for a long time Konami thought that total ATK and DEF was far, far more important than it really is.
Why isn't Silent Swordsman level 6 on this list? Kappa
Because it's not a normal monster
WHOOSH
average_white_guy plus it's not even a real card
your fucking idiot it even funny.
To roughly quote some stupid shit about how the French language works from the internet: "petite is used to describe something that can be percieved as feminine, petit is used for masculine." So Petit Moth is a male... and also not a moth
Huh, how bout that. I never would’ve known that if I hadn’t sorted comments by newest first on a four year old video lol
I think Soul Eater was released as a joke.
with a name like "Soul Eater" deserves to have an ability. I remember in Yu-Gi-Oh! the Duelist of the Roses, Soul Eater can banish every monster from the Graveyards and gain 200 points for every banished monster on either Graveyards.
TheBrickBasher Don't forget, in Duelist of the Roses, Shapesnatch is pretty useful too.
Ah. But I like Flame Dancer's art
When I used to play Yu-Gi-Oh, I almost NEVER used Normal Monsters
Deinonychus194 I kinda have to after Stratos was banned...
Bull.
vous ëte fr ?.
i’m assuming you’ve never won a duel before with your train of thought LOL
Back when Ancient One got released, you generally didn't see 1800 attack, no sacrifice, without a drawback. There were just plain better at one sacrifice, but it still got over or walled most no tributes at the time.
What does pot of greed do?
Neos Ali I believe to know what you mean but it lets you draw 2 cards.
TheHellHamster its a joke from yugioh abridged
Terroking Salmon is an awesome level 5 monster. It's got 2400 ATK.
Nice shirt
Back when I was still pretty new I built up a perfect strategy to summon 5 headed dragon and was about to summon it until I found out dragon is a whole other thing and stone dragon wasn't one
new intro please
'O' \(^O^)/
Davinator1212 fire
Ummm did you forget about a legendary ocean? Because that made gagagigo a 2650 normal summon beatstick for back in the day and terror king salmon a 2600 beatstick.and they are both level 5 star monsters
petit moth
ultimate great moth...
petit is supposed to be French for little
est tu fr ?
I have never heard of the term "Vanilla Monster". I always called it a normal monster so to hear it called something else. It took some getting used too.
"shapesnatch this boy sucks"
Rata: and I took that personally
I was going through my level five normal monsters and I saw this video. glad I came here
When Dark Magician is in the thumbnail...
Then assume that he's going to be in the list and does a rage comment about it
The only use for these cards would be to fuel berserker soul.
Old video that won't really ever change
Three words: Thousand Eyes Idol! 0 ATK, 0 DEF. It's only purpose is to serve as a fusion material for Thousand Eyes Restrict, which odds are you might not even have to begin with
I got Ancient One of the Deep Forest out of one of those coin push machines that give you shit like stickers and sticky hands. Really tells you about its usefulness.
The Moth Deck is actually pretty good. So Petit and Larva Moth and it’s evolution is pretty good since it has a lot of support cards, so no card is useless.
funny stuff. the reasoning of why some bad cards are better/worse than other bad cards is great!
Petit and petite mean the game thing; the E just stops the T from being silent.
It has something to do with whether the noun is masculine or feminine in French.
Came here expecting Shapesnatch.
Shapesnatch was called useful.
Well...I guess I saw Shapesnatch at least..
:P
I'm not sure if anybody has said this on any of the comments yet, but 1212(december the 12th) is the day when Korea was taken over by a millitary coup mere weeks after the former president(also a military ruler) was assassinated, and in Korea that day is conveniently called "the calamity of 12. 12 "
***** It's a bit unfortunate, since if it was called twelve twelve then that would match the how the Koreans say 12. 12
Anyways this video was awesome, I was laughing so hard at a few of the entries
Basically any vanilla that isn't a tuner, pendulum, part of an archtype or the center of an archtype tends to not be worth it.
I actually made a deck once around perfectly ultimate great moth and it turned out to be pretty good. But it's also true it was made on ygopro so I used some anime exclusive cards like turn jump...but still
There is one big aspect to normal cards that all other cards lack and it's sad. Only normal monsters have flavour text. Too bad no pros care about it.
Souleater's only useful in Duelist of the Roses, since it cannibalized every Monster in both Graveyards if it started a turn in face-up Defense and added 200 Attack per monster.
Instead of Petit Moth, to get a Griggle, at least it gives you 3000 life when you give it to your opponent.
I know this video is 4 years old, but "rock is one of the most under-supported types" obviously because when they get decent generic support and a possibly meta deck Konami says "Oh hech no!" and bans all the decent rock support and some of the archetype specific stuff too.
-Written by a salty gem-knight player who wants our best spell and our lego lizard back
Edit: looked at the actual date of the video and realizing that this video is exactly 5 years old today, March 20 2021.
Those who played duelists of the rose know how dope Soul Eater is
I actually used to use soul eater when Box of Friends first came out, he was pretty useful. (:
YOU THOUGHT PUGM COULD EVER BE A THING, NOW SUFFER FOR YOUR SINS TO MANKIND."
Petit Moth stands for all that is wrong in this world, he leads all the young kids to trying to uncover its mysteries.
You flipped your shit on me because you have personal problems with Petit Dragon and seem to think the worst of me for not finding it the worst Level 1 Normal Monster.
hehehehe
you should do a deck profile with cards made up of the most unused and unusable cards id love to see how that goes for you XD
