I respectfully disagree. I think the show should have done him like the books did - ended his story ambigious. We know that in the books he's either dead or the gravedigger at the Quiet Isles (not confirmed but heavily inferred); he found rest either way, a way out of continous violence. Here, he just returned to his usual ways (back to violence).

These actors all came together to create a flawless symphony called GoT. I'm a jaded, bitter old man... but yeah, I wept when she shrieked in mortal despair. It seems to me that all of them put their very soul into this.
Even though the hound denied being a Knight he was one of the most honest and honourable characters on the show.

He was great, but how could he not know what happened at the Red Wedding until the show came out, when he was in the scenes right after it, taking Arya to safety. Doesn't make sense.
Rory seems so down-to-earth, no wonder he was able to channel the Hound so effectively. What a brilliant casting decision.

The roadtrip with Arya and the Hound is like peak Game of Thrones for me. That was Season 4, which might be my favorite season in the entire series. It's between that or Season 3. Seasons 1 to 4 are masterpieces. Period.

If the show did get something right, I feel it was The Hound's arc as an anti-hero. Not perfect, but the notes they hit were all the right ones...one of the most satisfying character arcs.
Because he actually had a satisfying character arc with a good ending...every other character besides him got completely shit on in the final season, I would argue the hound was the only one that they finished well...completely lost without George's finished books
Absolutely he stole the show from a lot of really amazing players that's a feat right there. Was he an amateur actor? Going by a few things he said he, wasn't a really super known. I never heard of him here in the US but that doesn't mean he wasn't big in Europe or the UK.

Rory was right. The Red Wedding is perhaps one of the most emotional and shocking episodes of the entire series. The way Catelyn begged for Robb's life---truly heartbreaking.
Didn't like the hound at first but in the beginning you could tell he had a softness to him. Seeing how his character evolved into what it had become was superb acting.
Now there's a man who loves chickens....

This just appeared on suggested things on youtube and Scotti, you're right, Rory was a forestry student in the late 80s early 90s and worked with my dad, he'd spend many an evening at our house, clever, funny, talented, great singer, played guitar, harmonica and was making films even then....one of the most genuine and decent folk I've ever known. The boy did good!
Rory is absolute class...he 100% nailed the fury of the Hound, while also giving exactly the right amount of humanity in later seasons.
Maisies laugh when they get to the Bloody Gates is FREAKING PRICELESS! He was expecting a payday and the color fell from his face when he realized NOPE! I bet it wasn’t too hard for her to laugh like that cause even before the guards told him that Lysa was dead and Maisie laughed, I kinda chuckled but then Maisies laugh put me into a face-hurting, belly-cramping, all out tear producing laugh that my neighbors probably heard! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂

The red wedding is definitely up there as the most shocking scenes in the show and books. Honestly when I saw the scene come to life for the first time I was just in shock it was brutal.
My God but he really made that show. He and Maisie and their storyline were definitely my favourite parts of a truly brilliant series. Such a shame it has to come to an end.
I do hope that someone writes a story that these two can act in together. Mystery/ Suspense. Two detectives trying to solve a case. Two refugees running before a calamity. Something. They're a team, such as Laurel & Hardy or Penn & Teller.

I believe that his character was so perfect when I'm sure the real guy is a big old teddy bear, it was so touching and endearing the way Hound/you took care of those 2 young Stark girls, it was very touching side of Hound! A bit of kindness and tenderness but only for a few seconds then back to the Hound another side of him but he was still a grouch! Congratulations to, you were made for that part!

It’s so many great characters in Game of Thrones but Sandor “ The Hound” Clegane is definitely my favorite. He’s a 7ft killing machine that fights reckless and relentlessly but also extremely skilled and experienced at killing people but he’s also a loyal honorable trustworthy man that tries to do the right thing... Rory Mccann’s portrayal of the character was literally perfect
