That phrase, "backyard wrench head", says it all. A hobby that has risen to the rank of art and craftsmanship of the first order. What is impressive is the quality of execution and the modesty of the creators. Thanks for sharing.
That car is head and shoulders above only on the cars in the great 8. There is a bunch of really rare stuff on that car. It's just beautiful, everywhere you look!
Awesome video and awesome cars in the running for the Ridler! I think Charley said it best, it's about the people and the friendships that make it all worth while. The trophies are nice but it's the people that make it all worth while.....
Well produced documentary! Better than many I have seen! Wish I had been the one narrating it! LOL!!! And Charley Hutton painted it! Nice! Classy of him to give a nod to Boyd...given how their relationship ended. But then Charley...is a pretty classy fellow! Congrats to the shop too...winning the Ridler is no small feat...winning it on your first offering...pretty impressive!
listen, i would genuinely love to be able to produce a beautiful work of art like these riddler winners. sincerely. but these cars are the absolute pinnacle of craftsmanship and most of us can't relate to the money it takes to put one together. i suppose someone has to be able to do it - i wish i could, as i said. when i read my comments about the winner - i think i was a bit harsh. the riddler epitomizes the baroqueness of hot rod building. and i am just too baroke to dig that scene. God bless.
It amazes me that people want to carry on with the 'normal' car guy crap and lets give everyone a chance routine still. For the Americans out there do you want to watch minor league baseball and cheer on the 'normal' guy and then look at the guy in the majors and complain that he has better training and better equipment and better skills etc etc... No. You give credit where credit is due and we all want to see the pinnacle of a sport. These cars are the pinnacle of car building. Simple.
The 1956 Buick special has $2 million in the build. That is just stupid money. But then, to each their own. Try does build beautiful cars. And he is a very class act. Personally, I wouldn't want that car. Unless I sold it!
I love to look at these vehicles but, as zedheadful just said, how can ordinary car guys and gals possibly relate? We need to promote the local car stuff and acknowledge the work and dedication of 'normal' car people. Many of these Ridler cars may never be touched by their owners, never mind get wet.
yeah, well produced, unreal builds. too bad you have to be an effing billionaire to win this thing. sorry, count me out - i don't give a shit about the riddler.i really don't. these cars are out of touch with reality and with a normal millionaire's salary. i'd rather see the guys at the local corner and their garage job cars any day. this shit is a joke. 'the friendships, the dreams the reality. these things aren't reality. when is the last time one of these guys DROVE their car somewhere!?

So many great productions. How can one choose ;)
Entertaining & inspirational. Humbling.
Accolades to all the teams :)
This car was at the Goodguys show in Columbus, I met one of the builders. The car is stunning, and Andy Leach was cool and humble.

The 57' Chevy Pick Up is very nice.... like the Silver color.... BUT that is not a 57' hood which is sad.

If you're going to drop a lot of money on a 56 Buick (even 50k) at least start with a hardtop. Geez that pillar looked terrible.
