What are you thoughts on AB 2571? How will it affect airsoft and beyond?
it will affect airsoft sooner or later i guess
It sucks
really stupid laws and its not the only stupid law. I'm glad I live in the UK on that issue. Are they deliberaly trying to get people to move out of Cali
Gavin Newsome and his radical policies will be the death of his career in the end.
As for the INFO ON THIS BILL
Thank you very much for shedding light to the people Jon-o really glad you take time to do what you do for the community still 👊🏼
I believe that in Claifornia it's already technically illegal to sell airsoft guns to minors. Evike requires you to verify your ID if you're buying an airsoft gun in CA
Then again thats if you show up in person. Most cant do that.
On the Evike website it says that you need to upload a photo of your ID. If you don't you need to sign for the package on delivery
i've also gone into stores to buy airsoft guns and they've asked no questions
Went to big 5, and I had to show ID to buy a bag of .25s
Yes, however, a parent or guardian is present a minor can obtain a replica. Hear me out. In the past 10 years several 1000s robberies was made with a replica fire arms (airsoft) resulting in the death of i think 13 minors over those years. It isn't forcused on going after airsoft, it to reduce the chance of a minor getting their hands on a replica that they other wise be legally obtained. A minor cant buy a gun, but they could by replica fire arms. Anyways you get the point. No that doesnt solve all the problems, but it does reduce the chance a minor will get shot by a small margin. I respect his coverage of this subject but he also failed to bring up why the law was written in the first place.
I bought my Krytac (I'm 17) from Evike and I had to set the delivery name to my mom's name and use her driver's license
Simple: just put a disclaimer before every ad or every product saying “this product is intended for a mature, 18+ audience and not to be consumed by anyone younger in the State of California.”
First off pretty sure that’s a bit that responded to you, secondly I find it rediculous that if your video just so happens to reach the audience of a Californian minor, you’re now liable to a 25k fine???? Like not everyone in the world will know this law got passed or make a big deal of researching it so it seems a very stealthy and scumbag way for Cali to now say hey… litterally EVERY guntuber, airsofter, retailer, and anything related to firearms is now liable to be fined?
And that’s the other thing I find rediculous… over here in the UK does that law still apply? If airsoftmike or NamesNicco say their sponsor and some kid watches it in california are they liable to be charged and fined overseas?
And how do you even monitor and limit this? Cali government would have to be watching every transaction and/or have a bot of some form scouring CZcams and have constant tabs on Californian minors CZcams watch history at least in a general summary, and then most likely in more detail if a case ever went to court, which would seem like a major violation to one’s privacy and freedom?
Idk I could be MASSIVELY misinterpreting this law
I agree, but this ultimately is not about just marketing towards minors. This is about control. That's what any political group with any means of power really wants. Control.
Thanks for letting us know. California is disappointing me over and over again. It's continuously going up in price to live and they are taking away our freedom inch by inch.
Yea brotha
No wonder everybody wants to leave out of this hellish state
Js you don’t really have much rights as a minor.
Or at all
I'd like them to fine movies and tv shows for firearms use as well. Imagine the uproar the film industry would raise. California could not function as well if the film industry left.
This is a real interesting point. Never thought about it.
If a firearm company wants to do a licensing deal with the movie, it has to be rated R? Does that mean if it's PG-13 or lower, potentially they could be advertising to minors?
@@Airsoftology technically rated R means 17 or older so that would still be advertising to minors. Same with video games and TV being rated M, 17+.....
@@fmixthings wow, great point. This could be a bigger deal than they intended.
Actually surprisingly the film industry is not a major market in California. The biggest market in California is real estate, specifically selling homes as people move out. Our state is in a bubble and it is only going to get worse. Second biggest market is agriculture and the state continuously is attacking domestic farmers to let Chinese companies buy it up, so even that revenue is going away.
Here in Canada, we're dealing with our own Airsoft banning issues. GL to our southern friends
Wow, its been going on for almost 2 years. Are you able to play in Canada?
@@agustinmaldonado71 Not for long. New legislation is in process right now that could end the sport entirely by the fall.

Evike made me provide evidence that I was 18 or older recently, to verify my account.
Also, two huge airsoft industry companies are moving out of California; Evike and Tac City Airsoft.
I was wondering why they would move, and now I understand why... Because they were forced out.
They are moving to Texas.
@@tylerwitte714 That's not true. Evike setup multiple outposts in Texas, with another on the way. They are not leaving California, since SoCal is probably one of the biggest areas for airsoft in the US. Tac City on the otherhand left due to various reasons including rent being too high and the owner simply wanting to move to Texas.
Also, Evike is setting up an outpost in Vegas as well, and most likely will have on in Arizona soon (if I had a guess.) There is no reason they would leave a state, where they started, and lose out on the local business here, especially due to it's size comparatively.
Tac city is still in Ca, what I've heard majority left tac city cause everyone thought they were moving so they all transferred to N1 airsoft field
I work at Tac City, we are not moving
@@spencergriggs5401 bull shit, you work at Tac City... And say their not moving now...wtf
As written, it is vague/ambiguous/not detailed enough. Cali can essentially do what they want because it's not written clearly.
To me it just sounds like if it went that way companies would have to change their marketing, disclaimers, etc. since this law is supposedly geared towards minors. 'Offers brand name merchandise for minors' - so don't offer to minors. The parents will still buy the stuff for them, which they already are anyway. As for games, they just won't be able to 'market' it to minors. Much ado about nothing. Frankly most people aren't even surprised anymore when Cali does stuff like this. Anyone in the firearms
eplica industry would be out of their minds to open up shop there in the first place imo. With how they are on firearms you just know eventually it will trickle down to replicas, toys, etc.
I'm sorry California for this to happen to you. Remember your Governor is also talking about becoming a Presidential Candidate. Imagine what he will do then. With this law and nobody to sharpshoot the wording and meaning is terrible. All the jobs there that are Airsoft friendly like Evike and Airsoft GI might go into a slump. Hope you guys make it through or move out of that state to where you are truly free of this type of dictatorship.
I hate how they demonetize most of my airsoft videos. Keep up the great videos bro.

Getting real tired of this crap.
You know, I was really sad when I moved to Texas from California back in the early 90’s. Now I could not be happier, that State is losing its mind.
I'm honestly surprised half of the companies stay in California. I foresee a few Cali based companies moving out of state to skirt any potential lawsuits and to cover their asses. Also save some tax money as well.
Bottom line, this isn't gonna work out how the lawmakers in California think it will. Just like a good portion of the legislation that trickles out of there.
The lawmakers in California don't do that. Think that is. It's all emotion, no thought.
Good info. Thanks for keeping us posted
I don't do airsoft but you run a good page with solid info. subscribed. let's go get them.
If Evike had any sense they would move out of California before another more severe law gets signed into place.
Airsoft Gi is in Texas will they become the prominent Airsoft selling?
The reason Evike is CA based is because nearly all their products come from Asia, so they need to be local to handle the import issues.
Thank goodness I took my family out of California!! Now residents of Las Vegas I had a though that brought up a question as it pertains to airsoft. Why hasn’t anyone in the airsoft community ever brought an airsoft event here to Vegas!? There are at least two casinos that are currently abandoned and are pretty much in purgatory until demolition happens. But until then, why can’t we have an event that would use one of these abandoned casinos!!! Imagine the possibilities and the immersion and not to mention, it’s in Vegas!!! Not only that but as an airsoft enthusiast and someone who would really like to go out on a weekend or day off and hit up the local spot for some night time airsoft fun in the desert. We currently only have two fields and both of them are predominantly paintball focused. This causes the hobby and sport to die if they don’t readily have these arenas and fields curated for airsoft only. You wanna feel like you’re in Iraq while playing some mil sim or running a skirmish with your boys on a Friday night? What better place than Las Vegas to be able to provide that type of entertainment for you! Anyway love the channel , I appreciate your dedication and effort to help grow the sport with your content. I’m signing off. Cheers Chief! 🍻

Told you guys you'll end up like us.
Australia....
All I can say is quickly class them as toys in the legal sence sooner rather than later.
Sucks for the few good people left in California, but this is what they get for letting their lawmakers run rampant. For a state that's people make a lot of noise for freedom to choose how they want to live they sure like to have a lot of laws to tell them what they can't do...
long time no see, hope your doing good!
Thank God I don't live in Cali...
I was competitively shooting at the age of 14... I wore all sorts of branded attire as a minor.
I'm hopefully that gets absolutely slammed down quickly at the district or federal level.
Pretty sure airsoft guns wouldn't be protected under the 2nd amendment so that's doubtful to happen federally
@@redtra236 it’s not about airsoft. The reg applies to firearms and firearms merch marketed at minors.
Good job not actually watching the video
@@CMTechnica Yes but its whether airsoft are considered toys that are too similar to real firearms which would then count as marketing firearms related merchandise to minors. And if they want to ban airsoft guns entirely I don't think there would be a 2A issue is what im saying. Not that I agree with it.
Yes yes California is bad stay away don't come here ever! 😆
airsofters just don't seem to care for gun rights 😕
They don't seem to see that they're just downstream from them
it sounds alot like here in europe belgium, here you can only buy airsoft when your 18+.
but you can buy everythink weapon repleca related when your 18 or above 18 years old.
I find it funny Americans think a law in California will stop game studios from using real gun names in games. California is big but not the center of the world. The rest of the world is a giant market where real gun models in games would still sell better then fantasy gun models. A lot of studios will just make a hippie-friendly version for California or they will target the much bigger world wide market and discard California altogether. I'm hoping for the latter. People in Cali need a reality check so they will elect better politicians in the future.
European doormat: come one guys it’s for the betterment of society
Would love to see more content from you about the airsoft business side of things. I love your videos, but it seems that Airsoftology only kinda pops up every now and then with a video for stuff like this.
Looking dapper!
First, this will probably get struck down by the supreme court when it eventually makes its way to it. Second, this is for targeted ads. If a kid is in a store and picks up a gun magazine and sees an ad, that isn't on the company. Outside of people actually advertising to kids specifically, this law isn't gonna have much teeth when push comes to shove. It would be very difficult to argue, in court, that an ad was targeted towards kids if, let's say, it appears on a gun site, or where ads for guns and their accessories usually show up. Personally, and maybe I'm just not visiting the right sites, I don't see ads for guns unless I go looking for them. If they are found on a site that's age gated, then that is not the fault of the company. That's on the parent for not paying attention to their kids. That argument would, barring getting a really anti gun judge, hold up in court. And again, if it didn't, it would almost certainly be uphold by the supreme court. It would just take one case to shut this law down completely. But yes, as John pointed out, the big thing would be to get any kids specific, gun related, merchandise out of the stores. While I don't agree with it, that is the one real way they could get companies. Anyone selling a Glock baby onesie would run afoul of this law and wouldn't have much of an argument in court.
I do not believe someone is going to take airsoft in regards to minors - to the supreme court
@@JadedGirl752 not airsoft, being sued for advertising to minors in general.
@@Stew_Pid my apologies I misunderstood the conversation and had to give it a rewatch, thank you for your patience
Back in the day, at least up until the 60’s I believe, schools used to teach kids about firearm safety in the classroom. Guns don’t kill people, people kill people and gun control is all in the finger. Our society and government is so wrong in keeping the future generations from knowing how to defend themselves against those that want to disarm the American people. Gun safety, weather it be a real gun or an air soft toy, should always taught with the upmost respect. I’ve been doing airsoft with my friends since high school and I was raised to treat any weapon with respect and always assume that it is loaded. It’s just another attack on our second amendment directed toward a younger age group.
That’s me never going to California
It's just like the UK, you need a ukara license to purchase a airsoft gun that is not painted two toned, however anyone over 18 can get a ukara and gift it to them, so surely if an under 18 wants it he'll be able to get an adult to purchase it and gift it to them.
As others have said thanks for letting us know. The next thing IMO is to see how the big California retailers react.
I think all the retailers should start thinking relocation.
I've used a shoelace to make a loop for my P90, so all under 18s have to use velcro shoes in CA now...
I don't think the gun companies will stop working with game companies. I think the game companies will have to make a "California regulated" game or just not sale tgose specific games in California.
Here comes extreme low cap airsoft mags next 10 bbs and under
NJ requires Fid to purchase
Did Evike anticipate this, and why they opened a location in Houston, Texas?
I don't think we're gonna see much change at the consumer level. However I do think companies will have to reevaluate how they market stuff now which is fine. But yes I'm curious to see how in house companies are gonna handle things. Also given how much tax revenue California gets from airsoft I don't think it will ever get outright banned.
If you guys help the firearms commity they will recognize you. Several guntubers (demo ranch colion ect) have said as much. The gun commity doent hate you, often times we see you a fun hobby with pratical uses that should be protected
Yeah that is true! In USA Airsoft is seen as both an entry and training tool in relation to real steel firearms. In the UK, because of the gun laws, the relationship is terrible. They look down on airsofters.
In the UK you need to be over 18 to get an imitation weapon (airsoft) but on top of that you have to have a UKARA License to even buy one. Guess US could do the same ??
Bring it all to Texas please!
I’m 20 thank God but still my little brother played before this was a thing I live in California does this mean my brother can no longer play airsoft?

the last video i want to see on my feed after spending 600$ on evike and being a minor, AND living in California
Don't stress. You are good for now. The important part is we still play the hobby/sport we love. Keep supporting the shops and fields.
1st: Games and game companies (or a good majority of them) are not (or rather should not) be included under what is defined as "Firearm industry member" according to CA AB2571 Chapter 39, Section 22949.80 (c)(4). Even with licensing, the "point" of the game is not marketing a specific gun to a minor (since if I recall the last time I played an FPS, it was not comprised of one company's gun). Though let's say if Sig Saurer creates a video game for the sole usage of promoting their own guns over the others, then yes, I believe that game would get sacked. Also, if I recall, a lot of guns that don't have to license would just "look" a bit off with a different serial name. So in that case, are they going to fry the game company for promoting firearm sales to a minor...for a fake gun in a virtual world? Unlikely.
2nd: Airsoft is not, according to Penal Code 16520 PC, a "firearm". Therefore stores like Evike or Airsoft GI should not get sacked from this law (nor you and other airsoft influencers, though you technically live outside the states anyway, right?).
3rd: This, however, will screw over real steel accessories, since they have near the same platform. So instead of buying Daniel Defense's real steel parts, you may be looking at places that sell replicas, like Lancer Tactical (I don't know if they do, but I just see a lot of replica parts that mimic the look of the real thing). Meaning influencers and marketing need to be careful what they say regarding how they accessorized their AEG/GBBR.
IMO, I would wait until someone gets screwed over to be all worried, in all honesty.
The "point" of this law is to prevent stupid shit like what Daniel Defense posted on its Instagram prior to the Uvalde Shootings (of course, no relation, but the post is...not funny to me).
However, I wouldn't be surprised if some fucking lawyer can construe and persuade an argument that anything airsoft is "promoting" guns to minors.
If they did, I would hope they go after youth shooting competitions (like Steel Challenge or Speed Shooting, and perhaps Clay Shooting and any other Olympic firearm sports), before they hit airsoft and paintball
Can you do a video on NY senate bill S687? NY state just passed this bill on 8/18/22. The tldr is Airsoft guns must now be a clear or a bright color except for black, black, or tan.
I don't think airsoft is cata as Toys In CA
God I hate California. This really sounds like someone trying to make a law that knows little about the subject matter that just want to say there doing something to appeal to there voter base which is heavily against anything that looks remotely like something that might go bang because it it triggers that persons fear of mortality.
also you could argue that an airsoft gun is not a toy and it's sport equipment, such as paintball markers are

How does CZcams work if you want to advertise a product? Don't we have COPPA act to block kids from watching it? We should be fine advertising our gun product online. After this... it should be parents responsibility.
I see "Counter Suits" coming, going after the parents of these "Exposures" to these items. Being under 18, the parents are the responsible party, in that they are failing in monitoring the activities of the child. What do you think?
Semper-Fi,

I don’t think this law will be able to be enforced due to games and toys which means nerf and gel blasters will have to go as well I can see those companies going to sue the state over I can also see companies like 511 sue over this as well but here’s the thing about influencers even if you put your account on mature content there is no guarantee that an under age account won’t be watching so it would be very difficult to enforce this law also I can see this law being challenged by the Supreme Court because of freedom of speech with at least the clothing
