Kubota B2301 - Spreading 2A Limestone

  • My driveway was in much need of a major buildup. It was too low to allow the water to drain which was wreaking havoc on it all year long. I was so glad to have the bigger tractor for this size of job. Hopefully in the next video the Swift-tach loader should be fixed and working properly.

Level your bucket when your back blading comes out nice and smooth... then once you get it rough in put it on Flow comes out like glass

Thanks for the tip! I pay more attention to the pile than my bucket. Never noticed it until I edited the footage.

That's smart how your using the back of your bucket to pull the pile spreading, instead of back-dragging with your bucket tilted all the way forward. Tilted all the way forward with your tilt hydraulic rams fully extended is when they are at their weakest. One more thing I would comment on, not criticize is, digging into your pile in medium gear (if its on the 2301), or low range. Nice looking driveway though.

I usually back-drag this way when spreading 2A limestone this thick, kind of like bulldozing the pile in reverse. Now if I'm doing a thin top coat of 1B or 2B I'll use the front. I use mid-range for most loader work, I like having a little momentum heading into the pile. Thanks for watching and the great feedback!!

Never understood why Kobota has the two very similar tractors with such a small difference. My dealer had the 2601 and for the $1000 difference don’t know if it’s really worth it.

Yeah I know, these tractors make so much torque it would be hard to notice 3 extra hp. My dealer only recommended the 2601 if using PTO powered implements. $1000 isn't a big difference but I decided to put it towards a grapple bucket.

Almost 12 so far. Nothing like 70 tons of limestone to seat them rings!

I actually ordered the Land Pride grapple buck a couple months ago but they're on backorder. Can't wait to get it for moving tree limbs and brush.

You are in serious need of a ballast! You are really stressing out your front axle and can flip your tractor forward causing serious damage. You should be in low range as well just from years of experience and having one of these myself it stresses the engine more than you think.

Reason number 2 not to buy used equipment. He'll learn eventually, hopefully not at a great cost
