4:55 Oh boy I’ve some facts about this one!
This isn’t actually an eas alarm, merely the jingle that used to play for a radio station that would broadcast at the time in Poland. It’s actually being played on a piano I believe, but the lower quality of radios back then made it sound like something straight from hell.
This jingle played on the radio just before they broke the news of Germany’s invasion. Scary stuff man.

    • @ilikememes262

Actual explanation: there are a few types a sirens. One stays the same tone, another one goes from a high tone to a low tone (aaaa oooo aaaa oooo) and another one sort of winds up and then slows down (ooooaaaaAAAAaaaaooooaaaaAAAAaaaaoooo). The Chicago siren combines the high/low tone siren AND the wind up siren.

Yeah, the recording is a Federal Signal EOWS-series siren (probably a 612) sounding its Alternate Wail signal. This is a valid siren signal, but is not typically used, especially for tornado warnings. It may see occasional use in smaller towns where sirens are still used to activate fire departments

the voice in the Egypt one genuinly scares the shit out of me. not because it's frightening, but because of the editing, it appears out of nowhere. also as a next-door Midwesterner i totally agree with the tornado siren part. we don't get them as often, but with how often we in Indiana test our sirens, you would think we are in Tornado Alley.

    Poland 1939….
That sounded a bit like bonnies lullaby (forgot the actual composers name) and it’s unsettling.

Actually Nowadays in Ontario we have the same one as the rest of Canada. In fact I only remember it sounding like that when it was first introduced to Ontario in 2015 Back when it also had that Creepy Male Voice but Now at least maybe in most places we have the Standard Canadian Siren as well as a female announcer🤔

I live in Chicago and I have heard the siren? It doesn’t play in the suburbs though, just in the city, so perhaps that’s why you haven’t heard it? I only remember hearing it once or twice though, I don’t think it’s used very often, but it is meant to sound like that
