- A hot tea for a hot day? This Middle Eastern drink will make you forget all about ice cubes, even in the middle of the desert. FULL RECIPE BELOW
RECIPE
Serves 2-4
INGREDIENTS:
2 dried limes (loomi Omani)
4 cups water
¼ cup honey
PROCESS:
1. Using a mortar and pestle, crush the dried limes, breaking them into pieces.
2. In a small saucepan, combine the water with the crushed limes and bring the mixture to a boil. Once the liquid is boiling, reduce the heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
3. Remove the tea from the heat and strain it through a cheesecloth or coffee filter-lined fine mesh sieve and into a kettle or tea pot.
4. Add the honey to the tea. Stir and serve hot.

This series is so elegantly put together. The music, the font, the clarity -- brilliant.
I tried this, it's good and I'm getting those middle eastern vibes 😂
Is the black variety fine too? I could get both but these are the ones I currently have anyway
It's easy to see that a lot of effort is put into each episode of this series. I always look forward to seeing a new video in my sub box.
Production perfection. Beautiful.
Music is always good
+Tamara Almond
this is abdel haleem hafez an epic singer
+Nana Syrian cool. Thanks i love it.
Now, about those dried limes...
I was thinking the same thing.
I'm convinced that drinking hot things when its hot out (and taking hot showers) help keep you from getting that awful clammy-sweaty-hot-cold feeling you sometimes get when its hot.
True
Always informative, however, slight typo at @ 1:38 or so "Don't by shy" probably is meant to be "Don't be shy..".
Didn't even notice lol
I absolutely love the music...
I am officially thirsty for this tea! Major yummo factor :)
great and unbelievable style for this recipe :-)
OMG! You bring back Thirsty For....!!! Yaaaayyyy.... Thank you :*
ayeeee this one reminds me of home
I've never seen dried limes/lemons in markets. When I buy limes, there tends to always be 2 or 3 that get left behind, and they get hard as a rock. I toss em out, but hmmm maybe i should stock on them for this purpose. (most likely not..) Have got to find these in the stores!
This video is relaxing and the music is perfect. Love the series.
Look yummy! Can not wait to try it! It seems like great twist on summer hot tea!
All British people will know that a hot tea warms you in winter and cools you in summer :P
Ikr but I ain't British tho 😂
excellent video, very old fashion way to make tea.
Iam from Iraq and my mom used to make it for me especially when I get sick or have any stomach pain it helps relieve it and it tastes good.
Hello Mr or Mrs Social Media Coordinator,

Just letting you know that me along with many others love the playlist and hope you keep updating it with songs from your videos! Great ambience and perfect for work!:-) thank you and have a GREAT day, and keep up the good work!
That looks awesome!!!!!
Oh my!!! Best video, it brought back so many good memories of drinking this delicious and calming tea. The song made it even better
صحة و شكراً
This tea is always nice after a long working day.. It taste tangy and if you add your favorite sweetener ( sugar rocks or honey) it balances it out.. It great decafe beverage .. Give it a try and you will love it.. Thanks for this great video and lovely music.. Abdul halim hafez is loved all around the Arabic countries and also Arabian gulf...
I love the level of detail you put in: the beautiful food, decor, dishes/pots/silverware, etc...I mean I wouldn't know if it was authentic but it looks super legit! I feel like I'm sippin tea in Dubai or something :p
Interesting, never heard of this drink before although if this truly originates from the Persian gulf then some khaleeji music instead of Egyptian would've suited the video much better I think!
This makes me homesick!!! I love it
such a beautiful video.. :)
I just finished watching all thirsty for episodes I loved them all. suggestions for future episodes
cafe au lait (perfect with beignets)
Lebanese Iced Tea ( not actually Lebanese but served in Greek/Lebanese restaurants around South Louisiana)
and more episodes featuring old fashion sodas
Amazing recipe though I would like if someone could help with the substitute for dried lemons and AWESOME video quality LOVE IT :)
loool, I'm Arab and we have this all the time, it's sooooo gewwdd ♡.♡
Excuse you, you mean the Arabian Gulf ;D
Fereshteh Land It's a controversial subject. Historically in European texts it's called Persian Gulf because of Greeks' contacts with the Persian Empire, which was the major player in that region. The name Arabian Gulf is relatively recent, emerging on the wave of Arab nationalism during 1960s. If Iran was on good terms with Saudi Arabia it wouldn't have been an issue, but it reflects an ongoing power struggle between Arabs and Iranians (also Shia and Sunni) in that region.
Dictum479 Actually, it is the result of being born and living my whole life right next to the gulf I can see it from my bedroom window. It is a controversial matter and I actually meant it as sort of a joke. Still, I will be calling it the Arabian Gulf, at least the part of it that belongs to us ;)
Captain Outrageous I actually know all of that being a gulf national, I meant it as joke really :D
It's has always been and it shall remain persian gulf for ever. Why your jealous???
When the persian empire was in the war with geeks the name was persian gulf and even before the existence of Christ was named persian gulf.
If your a professional arab or Saudi Wahhabi, just enjoy the oil money and get rest and be proud of google map. But the historical facts won't change.
😊😊✌️
aahhh yeah, abdel alim hafez. my favorite Egyptian singer of all time :) i can recognize his voice anywhere. best loves songs, although this is a song about regret from a past love :P
Thank u.. What a wonderfully put together video. I would love to try this... Just wondering where to get dried lemons or limes? I mean.. Or can u dry them urselves???? So simple yet elegant : )
i like the song ^_^
love the feel of the video. Really helps if you can afford all the help and don't just have a sister pulling faces as you do 100 retakes lol
How might one go about acquiring dried limes?
AKShamu28 you should be able to find them in any Arabic/middle eastern markets around you :)
Roaa Alshaer Okay, thanks. ^_^
Where did you get the dried limes?
Love the recipe.
And thanks for using the real name guys :)
For ever and ever persian gulf ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
+maziar arian
its arabic not persian
+Nana Syrian it's been Persian gulf for thousands of years, and it be Persian for the rest of the eternity.
i dont why its persian if the persians live in khorasan???
+Nana Syrian khorasan is a part of Iran ????!?!!??!!
yes the persians are only in khorasan
in iran not only persians there is kurds baloush arabs turkmans lurs and in the south there is arabs and balloush
I made this and it turned ou smelling great but tasting extremely bitter (almost undrinkable). Did I do something wrong?
I found out what the problem was: This recipe leaves away the most important step. If you don't want the tea to be extremely bitter you HAVE to remove all the seeds after crushing the lime.
So it's basically honey and lemon. Excellent for sore throats.
anyone happen to know the song? it's beautiful
it's a arabic song by one of the legends in the middle east in music abdel al halim touba
cupofcakee
Abdel Haleem Haafez is the name of the singer. The song is called Toba
Erb Stank thank you!
cupofcakee I always wondered what Arabic songs/music sound like to non-Arabs! Care to answer please?
Wonder if it's possible to dry your own limes?
It is possible. I left a lime out on a side table in the sun for 2 weeks one summer. A friend came over and asked what the shriveled up thing on the table was. So embarrassing, but at least it didn't rot or get moldy. It just dried out and became super hard. Why I didn't notice for so long, I have no idea. I literally walked by that side table every morning.
Bet you same thing happened to the tastemade guys, then they just researched what the heck they could use it for and BAM episode done.
ok good tea i never heard of it before and iam arabian girl but the song is from egypt guys not from gulf
You forgot the most importent step in this recipe: REMOVE ALL THE SEEDS from the limes. If you don't it will be so bitter you almost can't drink it.
Why the Egyptian song for Persian drink?!?
+Nadalein84
its not persian its an arabic khaliji
Then on the video it should say " Loomi Tea is enjoyed throughout the Arabian Gulf" not 'Persian'
And there are Khaliji songs to be used.
0:19 ARABIAN GULF DAMN IT !!!!
It looks incredible, even tho i have no idea of how i think it tastes! Also, the treats shown in the videos, are sometimes a bit more interesting than the drink =P
Yanuh222 In my experience, it tastes like lime salt. Very interesting flavor, to be honest.
Is that what just happened?
whats the name of that song ? i mean that :)
ALL !N It's called toba by the legendary egyptian singer abdel-halim hafez
thanks!!!
the music, please!!!
Hoàng Thảo Phương abdelhalim hafez - toba
thanks!
Dried limes?! Where the *bleep* am I supposed to find dried limes in Australia?!
MysticSeraph Any large Middle Eastern import store should have these where the dry goods are kept. Or ask the shop keeper. I'm in the States--admittedly in ME-friendly Detroit--but you should be able to find them somewhere. Good luck!
By the way, Music is Arabic and Pesians dont speak Arabic as a first language. Technical fault.
I liked the part where there was actual tea in this
What>
But this only cools you down if the air is dry... that way the sweat that this makes evaporates. Don't try this in areas of high humidity like the Mediterranean basin or Hong Kong or you'll just end up more flustered :P
That music though lmao ... at least use persian music or khaleeji arabic music instead of egyptian and in the Arabian gulf "Dried Loomi" is a quintessential savory ingredient even in Iran ( especially in rice dishes xd) adds tart and a smoky accent to any dish .
how the fuck did i get the option for 4K
You do know it's called the Arabian Gulf.. It's insulting to ppl stripping them even their geographic rights.. Dude they're already having it tough
