  • Here is a video on how to remove the front differential seal without having to buy a new one for $35.00. i needed the front input shaft out of this diff to replace a damaged one in another diff and didnt want to have to order and wait 2 weeks for a replacement from polaris.
You do NOT need to use the water. you can actually leave the oil in it. BUT it will make a huge mess when it sprays out.
i lost the footage of me screwing a schrader valve to the vent port its standard 1/8" NPT.
This is best way I've found to do it and of coarse saves money and time.

    It works. Dramatically!

Or since you are rebuilding it. Just install a new seal. Cheap insurance you know?

Water will cause a problem down the road. You can’t get all the water out. Use diesel fuel and do it in a good place and cover it with something adequate.

water will work fine as long as unit is cleaned after seal removal. use brake clean or acetone (same thing). but any fluid can be used really even leaving in the diff oil would work but the mess may not be worth it!

Why couldn't you have just used air only..... LOL

tried just air does not push seal out. needs the "hydraulic pressure" the water makes.

@@Benbuilt4u I would think the air has to go somewhere."Pneumatic pressure"

I don't think it's a good idea to reuse the seal. You will be taking it all apart again soon.
