Honey should not be added to hot contents. Always use sugar for hot beverages. Honey can be added to lukewarm water.
In south africa 1 mug water like what you used is used is normally used to make 5 mugs chai. Chai tastes best when its mostly milk. Water to milk ratio should be 20:80
Just a healthy suggestion: Do not add honey to warm/ hot food or drinks!
Use jaggery instead!

you have to use half cup milk and half cup water
