    We realize that it can be confusing to know what is really required of medical school applicants. You hear that certain courses might be required by some, but not all, medical schools. While official medical school requirements are listed in the MSAR, you know that there are certain scholarly and extracurricular activities that medical school admissions committees want to see.
    The study of medicine requires a fundamental understanding of the pre med requirements in the sciences and mathematics. Therefore, medical school requirements are focused primarily on biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics. However, some medical schools also require students take courses in other disciplines. Medical school admissions committees also need to be convinced that you understand what it means to practice medicine, work with people from different backgrounds, and be an effective member of a team among other attributes. Your priority is to do well academically and explore your curiosities. But, you must also explore your scholarly and extracurricular endeavors in a meaningful way.

    Hi thank you for the video. I did a two summer internship at a local hospital in high school in cardiology (about 5 years ago) could I use that for my experience? Or do I need to gain more recent experience? I still need to finish my BA after dropping out so not sure if the experience will be too old/not relevant

    HI, I am a high schooler right now, but am not doing biology, am a math and computer science guy. But I really like A&P and other bio/med stuff, I can't do it because am doing the max number of classes. Are the bio and chem requirements advanced level (high school) or do I need to do that in college? Thanks

    Question, on the AAMC website it says that you need one year of biology, if I took general biology one and another advanced level bio class would that count towards my year requirement of biology?

      Assuming you placed out of introductory bio at your college, this should be fine.

    Hello
    1. I have done my bachelors in Architecture 5 year program so should i directly apply to medical schools with MCAT score or i need to complete pre requisites first and then take MCAT and thereby apply to medical schools?
    2. And if i need to complete prerequisites first then are they offered by medical schools i am applying to who accept my application and provide a coursework or how?

    • @MedEdits
      @MedEdits  Před 3 lety +2

      You need to take all medical school prerequisites first preferably at a four year undergraduate university or extension school. Once you have those, you can start prepping for the MCAT. Good luck!

    Can I go to Medical School after graduating from nursing school or do I need a bachelors degree? I'm currently in high school and Im thinking of going to Nursing school and graduating from there rather than going to college because it would save me 2 years Along the way. After i graduate nursing school I have to stay one year before i get accepted to Med School so in that way I can work and get experience too, but is it possible for me to get into Med school just with graduating Nursing school or do I require a bachelor's degree?

    • @MedEdits
      @MedEdits  Před 3 lety +1

      Medical schools require a minimum of three years of college work at an accredited college or university. I suggest you call your state medical school and inquire to make sure this is the case, however. We wish you the best!
