My words exactly Ken , WOW. What I love about hill climbing is the 2nd and 3rd generations that continue to compete as a team. Imagine a champion climber is your dad retired , building , tuning and watching you do well what he loved and his dad. I love it and have to go see one. Loved that front fender on that Harley. I hear ya.
I've been riding bikes off and on 45 years, sleds, every winter for 25. Not so much with bikes but with sledding I get anxiety, butterflies in the stomach as I'm putting on my gear, and the drive to where we unload. Once I'm on and pull the trigger it all goes away. It's nice to still get the rush from the anticipation of the coming excitement after all those years.
That was a blast, what a nightcap. We have hill climbing here in Northern Utah. Fun to watch sleds hill climb in the winter. Hey, have a great night Sr
It dang sure weren't those old fossilized XR 750$ although I have seen Scotty parker and Chris Carr doing well over 140 on them at the Joplin 1/2 mile.
@@obundrick those things get some respect from me , at least it's a race bike and not some 30k bagger hooptie with a million lights and a stereo and tv
The H-D should have used nitro as a fuel. The rider size was too large for racing fuel. If they don’t use nitro any longer they need to bring it back. Makes everything a bit more interesting.
As expected but on flat the 750s will overtake by 3rd 4th gear were as the cr500 if take of in 2nd can only need 3 up shifts then your flat out the 750 would creep up but if I had to choose be the 500 2 stroke all day haha
Here's how I know I've looked at way too many of your eBay auctions. I rarely look at who posted a video but as soon as you started to talk, I thought "That sounds like the Kaplan guy." Great coverage, btw.
The area you live and places you go look so nice, I'm Australian but I have lived in the US for 6 months (in Texas and Lousiana) it was a horrible place man.. I'm really starting to think I went to to wrong area.
Why do you think that's horrible there? Texas/Louisiana should be perfectly cut out for an Aussie. You should be able to do just about anything you want there.
So cool, thank you I sorta wish we could have grown up together but man we would have put a big nasty mark on the town. I thank GOD for keeping me out of a wheelchair. That damn EVIL KNIEVEL, we definitely would have had a blast you guys are so cool LOVE THIS CHANNEL.
For all the drivers goes: if you still want to do any sporty stuff and compete seriously, no matter your age, go to the gym and live a little bit healthy. Otherwise you'll humiliate yourself or people can't take you seriously. This video has got the proof.
Sr trains 4 to 6 days a week at 56 years old. He won the North East regional vet championship on his stock 1997 CR500AF against a stacked field of 2021 450's. It ls 80% rider. Training is everything!
I wouldn't be so sure. I've seen plenty of 125's that you can't keep the front tire on the ground. Reaching the right gear and keeping it on the pipe, I suspect you could smoke that hill.
I just want to come out there with a old time 300cc Honda 4x4 atv and just climb it with my buddy on the front rack in Bulldog at 3mph! Those things would climb a tree if you put a guy on the front rack to keep it planted.
A harley in a hill climb???? I've never seen one run unless it's on a trailer lol. That's prolly the longest trip I've ever seen a harley take without breaking down
I was rooting for the guy with the gut.

Just looks like a good old fun time. No matter what ya riding it’s gotta be a blast.
I’m glad you all enjoyed doing this as I’m loving watching
“ Way to go , stuck up there in the bushes ….. went off the track”. Classic commentary. 😏😆👍. Thanks Ken…
Two strokes. Nothing like them

lmao, where da gas tank at tho
Was he actually gonna make it up that hill 😂😭😭😭😭
I’ve seen a horse lay down over the weight of a person but I didn’t know a motorcycle would😂😂😂
Me too!!! :)
Couldnt help it bo lmfao

What an event! The sights, sounds, and smells were amazing. 👍 And the temps in the 60’s. WOW. 😁 Laconia/Gunstock rocked it this year. 🏁 🏍 🏁

The last guy 😂😂😂
Is it just me or the Two Stroke bike appeared to be the fastest bike climbing the hill. Especially CR 500 power bike.🏁🍻
I agree, the first cr500 made it up the fastest!

@@MrTheHillfolk I reckon what I should of said was there's a huge weight difference between an xr750and a cr500.

I’d really like to know more about these events! When and where!?
The funny part is that the Cr500 goes up faster than the 750's
I'm with it with you on that CR500 will f****** kick ass up that hill
Nothing like a third gear start on a CR500
CR500 is the only bike for sheer raw power in an event like this

That Suzuki was badass
Thank you for all the videos 👍
Part two!! 🤘. Nasty bikes. I never knew this place existed, I’ve only been to Munsons hill climb 🇺🇸
Awesome seeing all these fathers with there kids
I have a old 2005 Gsx-R 750,
Dyno sheet shows 124.3 up
58 foot pounds of torque
DAMN!!, they got a Jigster!!, in the hill climb!!! DAMN!!!😮😮😮
The only way Harley could win against a gsxr is if it’s not running.
Ever hear of Prostock Motorcycle Racing? H-D OWNS the class.

That first Suzuki was flying.
I love hillclimbs!!!!
The fat dude that didn't get up the first hill had me laughing, and probably the rest of the day.
Weighed more than the Harley and stalled it.
Love it love it love it !!
I have a ktm 250sx. It scares the piss out me I couldn't imagine ridding a 500. Love 2 strokes though.
Oh my gosh!!! And I thot Mike was chubby!!! "That's it, break time is over" was a riot!! Well, at least he made it to the first hill--30 feet away.
Yesss!

Did anyone see the Gsxr750? I didn’t
So the Suzuki GSXR 750 was slower than an awesome CR500. that's how I thought it would go down
The Harleys slower than that, well the odd one or two that made it up.
Harley Davidson God Bless America Heall Yea
7:55 shlt, that was extremely humilliating. I was rooting for him.
I would’ve rode straight into a wall if that was me
Yep he had all the traction he would ever needed poor bike just 💩 out
Hell yes go harley Davidson
Bogged out but what hharley engine can do
Imagine being Evel Knievel and jumping these types of bikes, no wonder why he broke so many bones.
It's not just power, weight kills traction.
Run what you brung 👌
4:14 was probably running some type of plane fuel some motorcycles can do that.
Good vidéo 👍👍👍
8:36 bearded dude could have been nicer... I mean the king Kaplan is complementing your damn bike lol
Last guy said yes but his bike said NO WAY! I tried not to laugh but I did I was rooting for him.👍🙊
Wtf that first bike 🔥
I can smell the Castrol R from here
That 500cc was faster than all them the air-cooled one
You have to have 750 4 cylinder to match up a 1 cylinder cr 500 or a kx 500 long live 2 cycle. It's RAW power!!!!!!!
I wish I knew about this happening i am only a 30 min drive away,I don't think the 93 cr 125 would make it up though
I wouldn't be so sure. I've seen plenty of 125's that you can't keep the front tire on the ground. Reaching the right gear and keeping it on the pipe, I suspect you could smoke that hill.

Gosh damn why don't they spend money on some new tires. Why don't they have paddle knobbies? The knobbies on those tires looked pretty worn out.

Two strokes rule !! The heavy HD ditch pump motors just don’t make the revs.

what the hell was the guy on the ( almost stock ) Harley thinking, getting that thing up the hill just with knobblies was never gonna work.
