If you are looking to expand your products into wholesale and have retailers start carrying your goods you will want to create a catalog that you can either print and distribute or send via pdf/email. As someone who used to be a retail buyer I have spend over 5 years working with wholesale accounts and I have seen hundreds of wholesale catalogs and line sheets so I am sharing all of that knowledge with you today.

    Hello, thank you for a great video! I have had a video call today to sign up to an online wholesale platform and then spent the afternoon in 3 different retail shops talking wholesale!
    I most definitely need a catalogue which is what has landed me here so thank you for your tips!
    I have sent out introductory emails to all 3 and the one that confirmed i then sent a list of terms and prices (not via pdf though just in the email)
    I have decided to go with a 30% off for the retailer. Ive noticed alot do 50% but is this something that you have choice over or is it a rule of thumb in retail that its pretty much half and half??
    Thank you for your time 😁

    Hi Caitlin, this was super useful🥰😊 Thank you so very much.
    1. When you delivered your products to your client for the first time, did you have to give them a naked bar of soap and bath bombs, etc in each scent inorder to display with your boxed products so that their clients can smell before buying? You know, like one would do in a market.
    2. Do you make a new catalogue for every season that showcases your core line AND the seasonal release and do you then give your existing clients a new catalogue?

    • @caitlinblue
      @caitlinblue  Před 2 lety +1

      Thank you!! Okay so 1) I do offer samples for the whipped soaps and scrubs but I don't do a bar or bath bomb like you're saying mainly because my retailers don't really want that. If you do have someone asking for that I would do it because it will certainly help the customer see what they are buying. 2) I do a catalog every season that includes my core line and anything else that's "available" sometimes I have scents that will go through spring and summer but not fall/winter. Hope that makes sense!

    HI, very important tips. However when distributing your products to a wholesale customer, do you go about your packaging the same way for half of your actual price? like the wrapping and labeling of each soap or do they handle that themselves?

    • @caitlinblue

    Thank you for the very useful information! Would it be weird to put the quantity of an item you have in the visual catalog? Say I only have 15 of one product that I can't produce fast (since it's manufactured). Can I list the photo and under it write something like: "15 in stock"?

    • @caitlinblue
      @caitlinblue  Před 11 měsíci

      I think that's totally fine! Most buyers are used to getting what's called a "line sheet" which is typically just the inventory that's in stock so it wouldn't be weird at all to list that information.

      Thank you! I actually don't have it printed, I find that my wholesale customers all work digitally and I don't really send a hard copy to anyone. • @caitlinblue
      @caitlinblue  Před rokem

      Hi! Yes I like to do a minimum so that people can’t just buy for personal use. I’ve had a lot of people but baby shower favors and holiday gifts on wholesale and not actually buy my products for their store. The minimum kind of weeds out those people who aren’t serious bout carrying my products in their store.

    • @caitlinblue
      @caitlinblue  Před 2 lety +1

      I just have my wholesale customers email me their list and then I invoice them through my website. I don't have them go through my site because the prices are different and if they want a restock of a scent that I may not have in stock they wouldn't be able to checkout if they just went through the site. If you have a shopify you. can just write up a draft order and it works great!

    • @caitlinblue
      @caitlinblue  Před rokem +1

      I don't know that I would want to do the afterpay/sezzle on wholesale because of the fees. You may want to do a cost comparison on payments for wholesale like credit cards versus afterpay vs checks. If you're wholesaling your total value amount is large and want to keep as much of that money for yourself! hope that helps!
