  • In this video I explain the journey I took to get my small business products onto the shelves of local retail stores.
    I run a small business selling pet accessories including bandanas, harnesses, leads and collars. If you have a small business and are interested in how to get your products into shops then hopefully this video will be insightful. I learnt a few things during this process and I hope that by sharing my journey of getting my small business products into retail shops that you can be better prepared when you go for it with your products!
    As always, any small business questions let me know in the comments and I'll be happy to let you know my thoughts.
    About MegaCrafty and The Pampered Pet Club: MegaCrafty is a small business focused channel where I share the journey of setting up my own small business and the lessons and tricks I've learnt along the way. The Pampered Pet Club is the small business I run. It started off as a pet bandana business and has grown into a pet accessory business. I'm always looking for ways to improve so if you have any thoughts about my business then please share them in the comment section!

    I'm so glad I came across your channel, I can't wait to hear more about your wholesale business. Interestingly enough, this weekend I visited two small shops in my area to scope and gauge brand compatibility. One store is a retail business that exists solely to give local product-based businesses a place to sell their items! I'm reaching out today to pitch my cards. Congrats and much success to you!

    Great video Meg, how long did the whole procedure from reaching out to the retailer to getting it in store take?

    Great insightful information. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and time! Very well done :)
    I have a quick question: Is there a standard product pitch template with what product info and company details a buyer wants to see about our product and company? I want to provide the proper information they want without overwhelming them with unnecessary information.
    Thank you so much. You've been very helpful :)

    Thanks for this video. How did you figure out your wholesale price? Did they agree right away or did you need to negotiate?

      I wouldn’t say there is a standard template but there are a few useful things and a few necessary pieces of info to share with a potential supplier to make sure they are getting all the info they need without overwhelming them - I’m covering this in my next video so stay tuned 😀

    That’s great news! At what price point do you sell your stock to the stores so you still make a profit and the shop to obviously make a profit.

    • @Megacrafty
      @Megacrafty  Před 2 lety

      To make it attractive to the shops, my research indicated they would want to make 50% profit on the items. This meant significantly reducing my profit which is why I set a minimum order number of each item for wholesale. The bulk orders mean I can get a lump cash injection into my business and use it develop more products. It’s tricky because I didn’t want to loose out on most of my profit but my setting a Minimum order quantity I was able to make sure I still made a profit on the wholesale sales. Hope that helps and makes sense!
