@@celmotors I never had a rod bender before, if you maintain your diesel by the book you shouldn't have that problem, unless it's a serious deficiency in the engine.
The diesel sounds fine to me, just needs to be blown out, as in take it out on the highway for at least 3 hours going 65- 75 MPH and blow all that soot out the injection system, and use some liquid moly.
I don't understand why so many of these car are left to rust like this when they run and drive or not needing much to make they road worthy again? The 70's, 80's and early to mid 90's were golden years for Mercedes, BMW and most German cars. These were some of the most solidly built and best looking cars they made. I know I would sooner have this 93 than a 2020 Mercedes, unless the newer Mercedes was a G wagon as those are nice.
I had it before they did. I got it without engine block and other missing stuff. I built up the engine, replaced the whole interior but sadly ran into financial trouble and had to sell it. Still sad about it.
@@JJsAutomotive It would take me ages to get used to left hand drive. So that should give you a hint of how far away I live. I already own a classic e30, I just hate to see all these great old cars left to rot.

The OM603 doesn't sound 100% healty, and/or the exhaust is rattling....

Idle is rattling because of the defect injection. Injectors aren't working properly. Very recognizable Mercedes diesel engine sound of that era.

@@DieselPurge a few of the 3.5L 603 would bend rods even when maintained, it was a defect in the motor. Mercedes recalled them
