I wouldn't have even paid £80 for those shoes, let alone £800.
The first gown didn't look like a wedding gown, the second was too tight and the third was perfect. She looked beautiful. I did laugh when they put her hair up in that messy pony/bun and said now it looks elegant. But with the veil it was perfection. She is a beautiful bride and mum and dad were so proud.
They put her hair up because all that long hair hanging down over a dress with lots of detail would have been a mess. I'm sure her hair stylist could be counted on for a flattering up-do for the wedding.

I shopped for my wedding dress alone. I wasn't buying the dress for anyone else but me. A wedding dress is very personal, I think. I paid for it, and no opinion but mine mattered. My husband loved it, and that's all that mattered. It turned out that my family loved it too, but I would have been ok with it if they didn't.
There's something about satin and sleeveless it looks like a negligee not a wedding gown. .
The dress she chose........ PERFECT!!!!!!! That would've been my wedding dress for sure.

I never had this experience when I was choosing my dress. I was all by myself, with a teeny budget. I wish I had a friend or parent there to support men. This brings tears to my eyes.

I stupidly bought one of a friend, dont know why, we could have afforded a new one. When I watch these programmes I always feel cheated.

Dad has excellent taste. She tends to like to show skin (her daisy duke shorts, the outfit she wore to the salon) so I'm glad Dad was there to give his input. Lovely dress with an elegant look/feel.

When Harriet walked out in HER dress, dad's face said it all... it was a quick glimpse of his reaction, but it really said it all. She really looks stunning. It was that classic look that said she was transitioning from daddy's little girl to the woman he will be passing off to her new husband, and stepping into the next phase of her journey as a woman!!
Dad knew the other dresses weren't fancy enough for her but this 1 the 3rd one she put on has the beautiful eyelet on the arms . Making the dress very Elegant For her venue that's what she needed.
I didn't think it was a question of not fancy enough. The first dress made her look like a cancan Girl, the second was much too tight around the hips. The third one had the very close-fitting silhouette the bride wanted without the evening-at-the-Grammies factor.

I love my dad and I would totally love to invite him to go wedding dress hopping with me but he hates clothes shopping and knows nothing about fashion so I think we would all just be miserable lol. To him, every wedding dress is exactly the same. The few times in my life I’ve gone clothes shopping with my dad, he always leaves me alone to go look at sprinklers or something because he’s bored.
Daughter needs to learn to budget and not "bat her lashes" to get her way.

I can't believe he said she's not cheap and the budget is only 1k GPB. Even if you convert that to USD it's a tiny budget.
I would say from the age of the Dad that the cheap he is referring to means "tarty" (ie that his daughter is not tarty or a tart) and not referring to the price of anything. They are older slang expressions. You may not be familiar...

I was the same way. There were some very expensive shoes I’d badly wanted for almost 10 years, and decided to go ahead and get them for my wedding shoes. I spent $300 on silk fabric for my wedding gown and my mom made it for me. I’ve worn my shoes many, many times and will get much more wear out of them. The shoes she bought, she can wear a lot as well.
