LLULLAILLACO 6739 m - With DJI Phantom at the limit of possibilities (Drohnen-Video)

On the 21st of January 2017, exactly at 10:58 h., 4 climbers from Germany and the SPONDYLUS team reached the summit of Llullaillaco at a height of 6.739 m / 22.110 ft.
Since the mountain El Plomo (5,424 m / 17.795 ft) and the volcano Pili or Acamarachi (6,046 m / 19.836 ft.) were successfully climbed before the Llullaillaco, the expedition group can be considered credited with an extraordinary success. These three mountains have never been combined before in an expedition. The expedition’s title: "Following the Footsteps of the Inca" lived up to its name, due to the fact that all three mountains were sacred to the Inca.
But not only the cultural background made this project so extraordinary. The fact that a Datalogger (an electronic device that records data over time) could be changed at the weather station on the summit of Llullaillaco, made the project more than satisfactory. It was a service to science.
Also the clear setting of the high-altitude record for drone flights at 6.750 m / 22.146 ft., by Jörg Lenk, was one of the unforgettable highlights of the expedition for the participants.
But, above all, the comradeship and the fun had within the group made this success possible. We would like to thank all participants for trusting us, and to congratulate each and every one of them for their great performance. THANKS to the whole team!
AUF DEN SPUREN DER INKAS:
Am 21. Januar um genau 10:58 h erreichten 4 Bergsteiger aus Deutschland und das dreiköpfige SPONDYLUS-Team den Gipfel des Llullaillaco in einer Höhe von 6.739 m.
Da zuvor auch schon der Cerro El Plomo (5.424 m) und der Vulkan Pili (Acamarachi) (6.046 m) erfolgreich bestiegen wurden, darf der Expeditionsgruppe ein außergewöhnlicher Erfolg attestiert werden. Noch nie wurden diese drei Berge in einer Expedition kombiniert. Da es sich um drei für die Inkas heilige Berge handelt, wurde die Expeditionsreise ihrem Titel "Auf den Spuren der Inkas" mit Sicherheit gerecht.
Doch nicht nur der kulturelle Hintergrund machte dieses Projekt so außergewöhnlich. Die Tatsache, dass ein Datalogger in der Wetterstation auf dem Gipfel des Llullaillaco ausgetauscht werden konnte, stimmt uns mehr als zufrieden. Konnte der Wissenschaft auf diese Weise doch ein Dienst erwiesen werden.
Auch die klare Einstellung des Höhenweltrekordes für Drohnenflüge in 6.750 m durch Jörg Lenk war einer der unvergesslichen Höhepunkte für die Teilnehmer.
Doch vor allem der Zusammenhalt, die Kameradschaft und der Spaß innerhalb der Gruppe ließen diesen Erfolg möglich werden. Wir möchten uns bei den Teilnehmern recht herzlich für Ihr Vertrauen bedanken und jedem einzelnen zu seiner tollen Leistung gratulieren. GRACIAS!

That fake slow walking speed... In the Himalayas I could understand this but here...
What makes the difference, whether one is in the Andes or in the Himalaya on over 6500 meters?
Jörg Lenk . It is clearly seen that this was filmed when you were way below 6500m. I experienced this Slow walking for heights more than 7000m
The recordings in the rocky terrain are all made in the summit area. This will be confirmed by everyone who knows Llullaillaco. Do you know this mountain? That one there so slow walking is completely normal. You should know that, too, if you ever were at these heights.
But for my sake you can run up to your next 6000th :-))
"Puna" is the heavy air caused by the high altitude desert weather and that makes the ascention very difficult, a guy once told me he found way more difficult to climb Llullaillaco than Aconcagua or Island Peak cause there Puna doesnt exist.

Confirmed, I was there. This is the LLullallaico summit with the snowy sacrifical platform in the background. Fully agree w/ Miguel below, 6000m in the Puna can be more challenging than a 7000 in Asia due to the drier/thinner air. Whoever is sceptical .... just do it so you will know. Congrats to the Spondylus team ! Your video brought back great memories.
