- The third stage of the Astroneer Breakdown Anniversary event is here bringing leeks, noxomatons 002's, and omnuggets in EXO Research Aids waaaay down in the core. There are also new colorful EXO Caches and rare EXO Research Aids and Ice-olated specimen that can yield something truly baffling. The floppy disc circuit board thingies can be obtained as well. Plus I will show you all of the cosmetics you can unlock then wrap things up with my thoughts on this all new event for Astroneer

I like the stages, they want you to play the game more and realize how fun it is
I do agree that I like that they're trying something new. But this kind of time-gated nonsense doesn't do it for me. I'll finish the grind at some point, and I'm the type that likes a good mindless grind for relaxation purposes so I'll enjoy it, but it would have been much nicer if I didn't have to just wait for stuff to unlock.

It definitely felt time-gated just for the sake of being time-gated. I wouldn't have minded if there was a story playing out, like our efforts from the previous week triggered something that allowed stage two to happen. Maybe a small mission chain about it all, anything to just make it feel like that time-gate was there to do something more than practically force us to wait.
For my tuppence worth, I'm finding this event very grindy! Some mix of automation and some hand picking would work well but this is just not respecting my limited play time unfortunately. I lean more to the automation side than this type of LTE where you have to gather everything by hand and then turn it into something else and then send it off...

Well, I love collecting things, and I'm happy this event has so much to add to my collection of stuff. Though, like you said, I would really like it if those floppy disks actually did something. Maybe if we could insert them into the Sun Room, something cool would happen 🤔. Other than that, though, I'm definitely more happy with this event than the usual ones. Oh, and I totally agree with your opinion on the lore in this event. Tool tips can only go so far, and nothing really new was revealed.

@FennecPotato 100% this. I took those 5 disks all over the solar system to see if there was some 'hidden' use for them, was fairly disappointed that there isn't.

I am happy with the interesting twist they put on spaning this over a few weeks. Watching your video both helped and gave a few spoilers to mysef. I have not finished the event to get rewards as I was waiting till the burrito to start sending up rockets. I disagree a bit with the point made about automating this. Yes you have to collect the resources but I was able to build up an automation for all the printers and split out the leeks and resipound to two different parts that require them, even setup rails to the mantle and core that I can just send the recources back on while collecting more. I enjoyed coming up with my automation over the last couple weeks. Now just need to go hunt down those leeks in the system. I want to know more about who this Frank character as all the tool tips mention. Thanks for another great video.
@wolf164d0 I'd love to see that train setup! Maybe it's because I already have rail overkill in my save that I didn't take that approach; kind of wishing I had!
I like the old events lol free stuff is always great, plus if we start fresh it's not like we can't choose to do the event "normally." This event was just tedious to be tedious, however, I love that SE listen's to us this much!!! I do absolutely love the pallette for this event though!!! I may Complete for the hat too, but it's too tedious to care. I can't automate any of this event and that's part of the fun...
@Blueoceans101 I think there was a lot of really cool potential opportunities missed by making everything something we had to go fetch and putting all creation on the printers. Squash and cauldrangeas could have 'mysteriously' reappeared so we could produce noxothane. A new recipe could have been added to the cauldrangea to make some of the items. Resipound could have been made on the chem lab "because it's glitched." Even the automatons in their smaller form could have re-appeared by crashed crates for collection.
Im quite enjoying the event to be honest and we have at least a while to do it. Off to do some leek hunting now lol.

there is a lot of small tidbits of lore that this event helps tie together, thats what i like about it, though yes, the event itself is fairly repetitive
I think the winch is so you can drag the Exo caches that need power to your power source
maybe, but I wound up with like 30 winches. lol
I found 6+ winches in the core. The gold 'Winch' Snowmen are ENORMOUS. Like 2-3x the size of the player
yeah, I had a literal LOL moment when I saw the 1st one, and then doubled when a winch popped out!
honesty as i have been looking around i have found 6 yellow containers for Resipound and 4 yellow snowmen but they all contained a winch
I am not convinced that the winch isn't just an elaborate troll by system era :)
Ever since I started playing I found out you could use Winches to bring the ExoResearch Capsules to your base for easier opening. I suspect that's the point of them. Though they always seem to get stuck in my train tunnel unless I go slowly.
Good use for the winch. I tend to open all the EXO Research Aids using a rover or at least a tractor, and I just package the research that is inside to transport it back, so I have never thought about doing it like that.
That's a good idea! I decided to use a massive train with a ton of canisters to collect stuff since I had a rail line already and I tried a rover but kept getting stuck and destroying the ground. I have a pack of power extenders to get power from the rail posts, but they can only go so far. I'll keep my eyes out for yellow boxes now in hopes I get a winch!

also on the lore, this will include spoilers: at the end of the game, you go through a rift identical to that of the LRDs, which have interesting "lore" too, furthermore, the curious objects that break the sky as well as text throughout the game imply and basically state that in the lore itself, not just irl, Astroneer is a simulation, and its glitched. the 5th circuit board brings up something interesting in this regards, possibly explaining why certain content is added via updates, and mentioning things are slipping into the simulation that werent meant to...
@alinarust1731 yeah the event did briefly touch on a few things from before, especially with awakening. we know that we're 'trapped' in the simulation and EXO hasn't found an ethical way to restore us. And with EVA and Chronos, things definitely can cross over into our "instance of the simulation." I guess I was just hoping for something a bit... more?

I like the way it’s structured but making the Burrito is quite complicated.
@killmouseky4740 it definitely does take a lot of steps to get there, almost as complicated as nanocarbon alloy. I kinda wish a lot of this would have been done in another way beyond just the printers. Resipound could have been great on the chem lab. Have the cauldrangea and squash re-appear to get the noxothane. Make the leek and a few other things something we can plant and harvest. Could have been pretty great.
the circuit board doohickeys' "lore" sorta feel like they're less-so referring to the rest of the game as it is currently and more of hinting at something
if there's gonna be a new galastropod/pet, im going to be very happy, i've already got literally every one of them on my pack at all times except for usagi

my snails are all running around inside of their own gravity globes. they love the freedom. :)
not sure if it has been pacthed out but when I went to the core of Sylvas there were no yellow caches or snowmen, just blue and purples.
Event is fine but this launching them at terminal velocity is for the birds, you need to farm up 200 of each of the 6 event materials to make 100 Burittos!
I only found a single yellow snowman, and the yellow exo research aids were pretty rare. I think I saw maybe five in two hours.
And yeah, I'm beginning to wonder how much playtesting went into this event. Surely they would have seen everything getting launched and done something about it...
@@VaingloriousGaming - kk, the whole three weeks before the Burrito! is available makes me think of the saying "hurry up and wait". There was no reason to do much of anything until week 3.
As it was, I was ill the first two weeks so I didn't start playing the event until week three anyway! I don't feel like I've missed much!
I think that they are going to have another, and possibly more, part(s). There is no way that they end it there. I dont think the disks are just supposed to sit there and look pretty. They is so much potential, I dont believe that they would end it now.
@jaxlax409 I'd love if there are more parts, but I don't think there will be. The patch notes said there would be three stages. I thought maybe some of the event stuff will come into play in later updates, but then I realized that would be difficult for any new player who wasn't around for this event; they wouldn't have any of this stuff.
Ive gotten all 5 circuit boards, and though its more fun to find them, i can copy what they say and tell if so wished. (they dont seem to do anything other than be lore)

I think they should have spaced it out better stage 1 all items for the small printer, stage 2 for the medium and 3 for the large. and more of said time for each stage.
Y'know, I'm kinda divided in terms of opinion at this event: at one hand, I liked the idea of progression as long as the weeks pass... feels like an evolution and create a big expectation, and also, I found cool that, as it progressed, more advanced items begin to appear... I mean, my automation solutions thanks a lot, since I'm poor at the "senso thingy" and nor any good in mining/arm/logistic automation/organization, so, going deeper to find easier-to-process resources is neat!
Yet, in the other hand, the proper expectation fell into some emptiness (as you yourself commented)... I play and follow Astroneer progress it just makes kinda 4 years now, and I love this game, but all things appear to be very scattered... let's pick the example at the spectrogram images on the lost ships... those images never got any sense in integer lore, and nor did those recent updates... the galastropods, the trains, the mining, the solar room/simulation thing... everything is going in much scatered directions that we can't see where's going afterall... same thing with these circuit boards... I just hope that, in the end, this lore manage to fix itself, since I love this game so much, and I want to see it standing up (and I hope the join of System Era to Devolver Digital helps this process more than trouble itself)
@juliofaria4503 I agree that most of the 'lore' we've had has felt really disconnected from everything else in the game. TBH, I think they did a MUCH better job at leaving things up to our own imagination. At 1.0, the game told a good story without a single text box to read. What we have today definitely tells part of a story, but it seems like the desire to make things "mysterious" has, instead, just made things unclear.
Where found the resipound?
You can find them in snowmen in the lower levels of Sylvia or in crates in the lower level (with the mushrooms or lower helped for me)

One minor annoyance for me is that the LTE doesn't play with mods turned on. I've had to turn them off for the event items to be visible. Why do they do this every time? I don't understand why mods mess up LTE events so badly?
I appreciate the comments you've added, I'm glad my coverage has helped. One more video is coming out on the 16th. The only mod I use is the dev menu, and typically just for recording videos to get better camera angles or to simulate a first person camera. Though I have been known to turn on invincibility now and then. ;)

Has been helpful seeing your videos on this LTE! Great Work! I have been ill the last month and it's only in the last week I've been well enough to turn my PC on and start this event. Hence, I've not have the worry about the three stages like you have.
You are very underrated youruber! You really helped me with the event, but i think that the dynamite hat is too big. I need to be careful because it can explode every moment! And can you make an automatic base guide, because I can't do it myself.

@@VaingloriousGaming And also, I really want to complete the event, but I don't have a good drill. But I have Drill Mod for the terrain tool. And I flew to Glacio and just maked a train system all the way to the core.. And I never saw the yellow snowman. (I searched in the mantle)

Liked the event but I would have love it more if there were a way to automate it or at least a way to automate one area of event
@orgsniper I've read some comments of people using rails to help add a little bit of automation. It's a good option, but would have liked different paths so we could have more choice in how to complete it.

I hate that the game crashes when I get into a rail car because it's crashing on the auto save.. an hours worth of gathering gone.
@warrene3365 that really sucks. :( Tho usually when my game crashes on a save, the save *did* update and I can restart and pick up at the save point. But, I play on PC, I'm not sure if it works out so well on other platforms.

Well i waited for the 3rd stage of the event to releases so i can go and farm materials in the caves... i gathered a lot of materials for the event and at some point the game crashed! So 2 hours of tedious framing lost... and so i uninstalled the game and never coming back to it 😥
I hope you can take a couple of days and come back to it because there is some really great stuff coming to the game this year!

I enjoyed it until I had to head down in the planets, and the explosions sent the items in all directions out of view. That got old really fast.

I miscalculated the amount of points I need to finish the event and spend over an hour making 8 burritos and almost immediately lost interest in the entire thing, since I have to spend waaaay to long to finish it :/
(maybe making the simple items craftable by using the trading platform have them? That'd be nice)

I feel you're not alone in your disappointment with this event. It was definitely something unlike we have seen before and I'm sure the devs will be looking at all the feedback - positive and negative.
What would be glorious and that eXtra spicy compared to other Astroneer Streamers.Published the burrito recipe with some info how and where to get them How much is needed, LEEK LEEK LEEK is the most important resource. But yeah we got a 13 minute video with not quite valuable info. No i dont hate your channel, but like you can read in the bible go that extra mile its not written for nothing.
