    I have a better idea.
    Stamp the images onto a sheet of card, laminate the card and stick the stamps on the laminated card where the image is. Punch holes, if required.
    That way you can see what stamps you have, what they look like stamped out and you can see if one is missing from your collection.

    I did this for my stamps. Mine is 12x12" I used heavy duty double sided scrapbook pages
    Each page has a category like butterflies, bees hummingbirds and birds.
    The next page has flowers the next are foliage etc. I love it

    I noticed on Rachel's CZcamss that she uses similar plastic containers that you have left over for print out pages and puts a certain theme in each one. I'm not sure what you do with those things maybe you already have a system. You might get in touch with Rachel and see what all she puts in her boxes

    I hope you look back at your old vlogs because I just found this one & I want to let you know that this is exactly the storage system I have been trying to design. I don't keep track of the manufacturers of the stamps I buy, since I don't make videos, and I wanted a way to separate my word dies from image dies and then organize them by theme or season. I think this will be the perfect solution for me. Thank you! I can't wait to get started.

    Loving these videos Barbara. I like the stamp storage, very good solution, much better. Just one thing…..I probably would have put the stamps the other way around, picture side first, stamps on the other side, so you and see at a glance when flicking through what the stamp looks like? Maybe that’s just me as I can’t see properly! Maybe you could put some dyed papers in the boxes, colour co-ordinated as they are see through you will be able to see the colours and they will be protected. Can’t wait to see what the curtains look like when they are up. Your craft room is looking gorgeous 😍 I’m really happy for you, you’ve got your own sanctuary to create in!

    Great system. I have an idea: you could photocopy each page to keep in a corresponding binder that would have each page numbered. Then you can quickly leaf through the paper pages and go to the right page quickly in your stamp binder.

      @kkrolf2782 Před měsícem

      You c o u l d put the photocopied pages in a separate binder, but I think I’d also like one behind the corresponding plastic sheet to better discern what the stamp is on the other side.

    Hi Barbara, thank you for sharing. I note you took apart sets to store stamps by category. I found the problem with this method is that once a sheet is full, you have to shift everything around to accommodate new stamps. I now use the 'Tiffany Spalding' method, keeping stamps in their sets and add them to a binder as I get new sets. I have a separate 'catalog' where I stamp all the images grouped by category. I put a reference next to each image. Having 19 binders, I can go to the catalog see, for example, all my butterfly stamps, choose the one I want and go directly to that binder. I do similar for my stencils, embossing folders and dies. It was tedious to get it all together initially, but now as I get new items I automatically add them to my catalog.

    • @heathersherlock
      @heathersherlock Před rokem

      I love this idea. I don't keep mine in a binder but a large plastic box where I store them organised by Manufacturer. (I like to refer back to the details in case I want to search the internet for inspiration - I need the name of the stamp set.) I've always wanted to store by theme, but hesitated for that reason. I can use the 'Tiffany Spalding' method! Excellent.

    • @agardener3621
      @agardener3621 Před rokem

      @@heathersherlock Many of my stamp sets are freebies from magazines. Yesterday one magazine came with a set of dies, stamps embossing folder and stencil. In my 'catalog' I put a reference code to denote dies etc. You could do this in your catalog with the Manufaturer name. I will say now, it took over a year to get me to this place. However I get so much inspiration from looking at like images and I actually spend more time crafting than looking for things. You may also want to consider a Pinterest page for your sets. Good luch

    Hey, dear Barbara, I am also still looking for the ingenious, cheap, practical and space-saving stamp storage system. Currently, I store my stamp sets in sleeves and these in a larger box, as it probably make many. I am not really convinced of this.
    With your folder system, I would be afraid that the silicone becomes brittle too quickly over time because it is quite airy only on the foil. I have the feeling that my boxes take up too much space.
    Actually, I would like to have a digital archiving system, so that I only need to enter butterfly on the computer, for example, and I get all the sets where butterflies are included with image preview and creative example displayed. Then I select the butterfly motifs on the computer and get them from the archived sets.
    I like the idea of organizing the stamps by theme and had considered that for my archives. But there are also stamp sets that have different motifs, but they go well together because they are made in the same drawing style. I wouldn't like to separate those so much.
    Haha... it remains difficult ... 😅🙈

      It’s a constant struggle….

    • @kkrolf2782
      @kkrolf2782 Před 9 měsíci

      Hi, Mona … Thanks for mentioning the drying factor!! This looked like a viable solution until you brought up humidity, etc.; I live in ARIZONA so I’ll NOT be doing this!!
      2nd: The dilemma you described regarding sets is a horrible one, and the secondary reason I try to avoid “SETS”!! The primary reason for my avoidance, however, is that, invariably, the sentiment or image the manufacturer has produced is NOT the size I need for my project!! It’s one thing if we’re talking butterflies … if one doesn’t work, I (WE??) probably have a dozen others to choose from. That’s not always the case with other images! SOMETIMES - if I have the time and stamina! - I’ll manipulate a photo of the image I want to use and go from there.
      3rd: Regarding your desire to have an electronic search system. Not sure if you’re wanting a kind of on-line version? Or maybe one that searches YOUR stash for an item to be used? If the latter, you might check out Justine Hovey’s videos wherein she compares Evernote and Airtable. “It’s me JD” also talks about the one she uses in a y.t. vid. It’s going to take me F - O - R - E - V - E - R (!!) to get to it, but I think I’ll be going with Evernote. If I understood Justine correctly, Evernote can be in residence on your gizmo, but I THINK Airtable utilizes the “Cloud”. Sometime ago I had heard of an app called “Color My Life” (or something to that effect) that was working with crafting manufacturers to have them share the details of their products to be accessed by this app. Seems like quite a number HAD signed on to the idea, but I have no idea if that is still ongoing. Really s o u n d e d like a major boon, as most of the “tags” apparently would have been pre-programmed into the app!!
      Hope this was of some help. Be well!

  • @grandepuce8
    @grandepuce8 Před rokem +6

    I used this system and eventually gave it up - over time stamps lose the ability to stick nicely to the thick plastic sheets. Stamps falling off became a major annoyance! You can clean up the back of stamps to get the stamps sticky again (like you did in the video), but ultimately they only stick temporarily. I hope are still happy with your new system for years to come. If you start experiencing the same problem I had, you might want to put the plastic sheets with stamps on them in sheet protectors so the stamps that fall off fall into the sheet protectors. I used to live in Germany and I love those German binders. The opening mechanism is so much nicer than what we have here in the US!

    Hello! Congratulations on completing that tedious project of reorganizing your stamp storage. It was great that it worked out to have one binder for clear stamps and the second binder for red rubber stamps. If your collection grows you already have the 3rd binder to match that could possibly be your favorites. As for those lovely flat clear boxes, they would be wonderful for ephemera, stamped & fuzzy cut (or ScanNCut for me) images ready to use, perfect for protecting your vintage documents (and/or sorting the ones you have or have not scanned), specialty papers, project materials, cardstock, seasonal items, etc. Thanks for sharing… I love that you’re real and bring us along on your journey. I have used quite a few stamp storage systems over many years and thought what I have is really good, it's an early 20th century dental cabinet with lots of shallow drawers, but your new binder system is way better Barbara! What a superior way to store them and you can easily transport them to your work surface as well as have many to choose from if you need a different size, design, etc.
    Really enjoy your Studio Vlogs! It's like getting an exclusive invitation to have a one on one with you right in your studio. I love it! Thanks Barbara!!

    I have had my stamps in binders for over a year now. I love it. I also organize by theme. I break up collections, because it doesn’t bother me. I want to have like things together.
    For stamps that don’t stick, use Aleene’s “Tack it over & over” glue. It works great. I took all my stamps off wooden blocks and added Aleene’s glue and I haven’t had any problems with them sticking.
    The ease of grabbing a binder has made everything easier. If I want dragonfly, I look in my bugs and animals binder. If I want a congratulations word, I pull out my word binder and look under the section of single words. My themes are person place and things, travel, holidays, love, birthday, animals and bugs, journal, flowers and trees, scenery, shapes, tags and labels, words. I have subsections in some of my binders.
    I also have my stickers and die cuts, chip board and enamel dots and bling, in binders. All organized by theme. (Except for the dots and bling, those are by color).

    Your empty boxes could be great flat storage for paintings, cardstock or prints. Safe from humidity, they can lay flat. Also great for pencils, crayons pr even synthetic brushes ( only when they are dry, otherwise they will deteriorate). I found this today. I actually started putting mine in binders a few weeks ago. Mine are backwards from yours. I have the acetate on the front side and the stamps on the back. 😊

      ( I was wondering if that wouldn’t make the stamps more readily visible. Thx for contributing that. )

    Wow, that’s a MASSIVE cupán tae (Irish for “cup of tea” 😉).
    Great stuff re. your new stamp storage system. Looks very neat and efficient. Maybe you could use the plastic boxes for storing themed fussy cuts? Or for collections of papers scraps, sorted by colour/theme? I actually wish I had those boxes for *exactly* that purpose.
