Biigtigong means where the River erodes, referring to the Pic River delta, Nishnaabeg meaning people or nation. My mother and I are self taught. We’ve only been beading for about 5 years now. so glad i found this - i started a gamblers hat - first time trying hats. I thought I started it wrong, but im glad i did ok. Also i noticed i doubled my tread ---- i wasn't sure if use single thread... i have much to learn.
The thing is every hat company seems to have their own sizing in my experience..Of course, hats can be stretched a few cms for a perfect fit.35 is a great deal...I bet if you connected with the Millenary manufacturer you could get a better price. Even at the price, you charge you still do not make what you should for the hours of beading you put into these beautiful works of art..when you add up all the hours and cost your profits are still less than 20 dollars an hour...Of course, you are doing what you love and making money so that is priceless!
@ 6:03 You should use a fine leather awl to make your holes. Do you have a PO Box I will gladly send you one... I do leatherwork so I have several... I use an Osbourne brand tiny shoe or cobblers awl which will make a hole for your needle in the thick wool hat with ease
I’m a beginner as well and I can’t find any that will tell me about the needles used. I’m using a big eye needle for my 11/0 but I don’t think that will go through the felt

Beautiful work!! I do beadwork myself mostly loom bracelets, barrettes and earrings. But want to do stuff like this. So from watching your video I gather you just follow your pattern like you would doing loom work. Correct?
What are you using to puncture the hole? What size? I have a hat I want to bead that has a very stiff brim. I usually make my own awls I just need to know what size for size 11/0 beads. The hat has a natural edge with no edging, should I use something like taylor’s chalk to mark an equal edge around the top and bottom as a guide?
If I have a hard time putting the needle through the brim I use an upholstery pin and punch a whole first. And I just eye ball it. But the chalk sounds like a great idea

Hi Jessica! I'm a beginner also but where are you buying the bulk of your beads? I have Miyuki's but in very small quantities, but want to use czech seed beads. I started with walmart beads and they are so irregular and not very uniform.

is this program only for Iphone? I looked on google play and didn't find it :( LOVE the hats! keep up the good work. My only complaint with the video is it is VERY hard to hear you - I turned my computer to max and still was hard to hear you :(

I honestly don’t remember what I used on that hat. But I like using 11/0’s mostly. Depending how much pattern you want to fit in on how much space. I recently did a 2 inch hat band with lots of pattern using 15/0.
I will for sure. I'm just painting for an exhibit and will be getting back to beadwork. My daughter graduated and I will be doing her grad cap for a shadow box frame. I will do a video for that.
I don’t know any apps for android, but there is one that can be used maybe on those devices. It’s called EasyBeadPatterns. I remember putting it on my computer a long time ago. It worked pretty well because you can also make brick stitch and peyote patterns on it. easybeadpatterns.com/
I have all Apple products but the app isn’t free for me either anymore. I had to buy it too now. And there’s an upgraded version too that I purchased. There’s also another one out called Loomery and that one also has a cost. But Loomery lets you design brickstich and peyote as well as earrings with fringe.

You do need a strong needle and patience. Sometimes I even use pliers as I have arthritis and get sore. Good luck 😉

This is called lane stitch. Formerly called lazy stitch but that is an outdated and incorrect term.

Yep. The first strand helps you figure out how many beads fit on your brim. I found that 17 to 19 is usually a good fit. Thanks so much for watching.
