Phil in this video near the end you mentioned “ I hope this was helpful “. I can tell you that is an understatement, this was so helpful. I really like how you showed the photograph then how you would paint it with the “ painted version comparison “ absolutely perfect Phil. You have a real sense of teaching that just works. Your color choices, value and temperature are spot on. In the painting you used in the thumbnail, the violet/blue greyed mountains look detailed but it works because of the values are very similar but it seems you used perhaps a few broken color choices in the violets, blues, yellows? Just love this video! Thanks so much 😊
Hi Mike I did block the mountains in with blue violet then added some yellow ochre to warm it slightly and break up the color
You are showing me the skills necessary to be a high class painter and not just a copy-er of photos using paints. I am busy trying to digest all of your great education and then implement them. It has made me a little fearful of trying because I know that I will fail until I finally succeed.
Another Masterclass!! I realised Your classes are not about painting, but how to see, and think like a painter. I am going to watch this many times over. Thank you, Phil.
Thank you Mohammed, it is all about seeing.
Very, very helpful video. Thanks.
After watching your video I finally understand how you adjust color according to background for ground and temperature. I found it extremely helpful how you photo shopped everything and showed you the exact color is that you use where you use them and why use them there I just made everything so much clearer to understand. Thank you.
Absolutely invaluable information, clear & concise, so glad I stumbled upon you😊 thank you.

Hey Phil, I just stumbled on your video, I love it! I've been watching tutorials for years but you are the first one who could clearly answer my question - "how do you see a great painting in an 'okay' photograph". Thanks, and you got another subscriber 😊

What kind of app or program r u using. I’m not a computer person but want to learn the terminology. I’ve use my phone to change contrast to get similar simplifications
I'm using Photoshop but the newer iphones have built in editing
Pena que no haya subtítulos. Edítenlos, por favor.
Good, but would be even better if he shows the paint being applied ( because it is so hard to interpret what he means with concepts like “ cooler “.
Thanks!
Welcome!
