  • A complementary color scheme will provide harmony to your landscape painting. This demo also uses a lot of strong color temperature.

    Thanks so much for your demo. I had heard of color harmony but this is the first time I actually saw it applied. It was fantastic to see you mix your colors, try your values, decide you wanted something different and then work it until you got what you wanted. It showed that painting takes thought and planning, and then adjusting your plan when you see that you’re not getting quite the result you want. It was also great to watch your work pay off when you finished. Quite a beautiful color study!

    The lesson explains so well the lights and darks process’ application and also how to work with 2 complementary colors And not getting muddy colors😭, it is a class to watch over and over again! This was a master class. Thank you very much!

    I love the way you paint the clouds and how you don't edit the video excessively and let us watch your painting strokes in real time.

    This is so incredibly beautiful! I am going to re-watch it so that I can absorb as much as possible. My only concern is that I don’t think it needed any more detail for such a small painting. The fence posts and the gate may have been too much. What do you think is the best way to decide how much detail to add to a painting, especially a small one? This is in no way a negative comment on your incredibly beautiful work!

    • @philstarke.artist
      @philstarke.artist  Před rokem

      Thanks, no offense taken. It is hard to know when to stop. I will usually finish the focal point first then as I move out I try to suggest instead of being too detailed.

    I love watching your videos and explanations. One thing I struggle with in this one is that I have no reference to see how what you are doing is different from what you are seeing - or perhaps how you are accomplishing it. It is strange. I'm only 8 minutes in but have turned it off several times already and looked at the end of the video and then come back. Hmmm... I understand the point of the demo but no reference means I'm not seeing why you are doing what you are doing.
