  • By: Alistair Begg || Preached: August 30, 2020 - (1 Samuel 29) David’s deceptive activity among the Philistines created a dilemma when he was conscripted to join the army assembled against Israel. But God did not abandon him to his sin. As Alistair Begg explains, David’s unforeseen deliverance by way of the Philistine commanders reveals the depths of God’s mercy and the mystery of His purposes. While David had been saved many times before, he ultimately needed to be saved from himself-and so do we.

I remember tuning in to listen to Parkside during the lock downs and they swept the empty seats and I thought how difficult that must be to speak with all those empty seats 'staring' back at you. Alistair Begg loves to have contact with those who he is seeking to teach and he is so good at making that connection. As he teaches the Word here it truly come alive to him as if he, himself, is there watching the conversations and actions... that is what I love his teaching......he truly is in love with God's Word and it stills , after all these years, excites him as if finding the truth of it for the very first time. 🥰

Wow! and Amen! Powerful lesson into the mind and heart of David. Praise God, David did see himself as he really was and repented later🙏. Hence, we see the more repentant David later.
Thank you Pastor Alistair Begg for this insightful look into David’s life when he was with the Philistine’s.

It’s amazing to understand that these characters aren’t perfect, I always thought the apostles, prophets, kings on some higher level of righteousness, yet they are all sinful frail humans, Only God is righteous His righteousness and Grace carries us.

You are indeed a blessing to those you reach. I saw you first in American Gospel. A real man of God. (ESV is the Bible version preached in this video)
