Everything about the scene of Rocket's friends deaths was just heart wrenching and painful. The background music just swelling at the right moment when Rocket's heart breaks, the panicked and frantic tone of Floor as she wants to get out of there before she dies too, the way their bodies lie after they die and Rocket's scream... oh my God, Bradley Cooper's scream and wail just plunges into your heart like a dagger. When the casting of first GOTG movie was announced, i questioned the need to cast a big actor like Bradley Cooper for the role of a snarky sarcastic quipping character. At the time, I thought it was completely unnecessary and was being done just to add star power to the movie but now, I doubt any other actor could have pulled off that scream/wail. This is now my go to scene if I want to cry.
I think Floor's body knows its supposed to hop, she looks like she's trying to hop when her spider legs are moving, even though she can't now because they took her hind legs
I wonder what it would've been like if she'd met other rabbits and found out she was a rabbit. I wonder if she would've tried to talk to them not realising they can't speak, and if they would've sniffed at her like the baby racoons sniffed at Rocket or run away because she would look and probably smell strange to them. @@josieegold6758 I gotta say that I know Rocket since mid 2008, but never got attached to him due the horrible design and lame backstory. Besides his personality was quite disgusting to me. But when James Gunn took the lead, he made Rocket have a purpose of why he was such a meanie, and why he wanted everyone to hate him. That plus the new realistic design and the new backstory made me love it too much.
Dude I never cry for movies... I can usually separate myself... maybe it was just the timing of my life right now.. idk. But that scene destroyed me when he saw his friends again as he was dying... and was apologizing and wanting to go with them. Very beautifully written.
Same here. Before August I know I still would’ve teared up a bit (because I love animals in general + Floor’s panicked “Rocket, Teefs, Floor go now!” Is absolutely brutal) but earlier this month I had to put my eldest cat down. And, apparently, I was still holding stuff in and these scenes drew it out because I just broke tf down. Like, ugly sobbing.
I watched this on my plane back home, expecting just another Marvel movie. I was not expecting to be gutted so deeply. Just the way Rocket stands as he is sobbing is one of the most upsetting images I can remember. This movie is heartbreaking.
When Lyla got shot, and Floor started screaming "ROCKET FLOOR TEEFS GO NOW" over and over really hit hard. You saw them experiencing the same pain Rocket was going through, but the only difference was theirs was fear and not anger or revenge. Teefs screaming "ROCKET PLEASE" adding onto the dilemma of them wanting Rocket to save them by leaving with them. This reinforces what another comment had quoted from GOTG1: "Everybody's got dead people, that's no excuse to get everybody else dead along the way" RIP Teefs, Lyla, and Floor
That really got me in my feels when I watched it the first time and every time really. I love that scene when Rocket grabs the blaster and busts back at the guards for his dead friends. And because those other people were trying to kill him.
That scream of pain and anger sounds so genuine. Anyone who's lost someone they deeply love and care about would understand. I felt the same way when I lost my stepfather when he was killed while at work.
The villain mocking rocket for the way he wails leading to rocket mauling him for some reason always is the thing that makes the trauma of it all hit hard for me
The other thing this makes me realize is how incredible it was that Rocket was able to seemingly move on not once, but twice, after losing every friend he had in the world in a single moment (the snap).
Let alone his words to Thor. “Some of them are dead, dead. But most of them are only kinda dead.” He truly is an outstanding hero. He pushes forward no matter the danger. Then the words he said to Quill "Quill. I have lived most my life surrounded by my enemies, I will be grateful to die among my friends." It just hurts bad to understand it all now.
God how i felt the agony and pain and the scream of Rocket when Lylla was killed then the rest of his friends. Truly one of the most heart-wrenching scene not only in MCU. What made me more emotional is its the 4th year death of our family cat 😢
I get so much more emotional when animal characters die (or animal-like characters like Dobby) compared to human characters. Especially these guys bc they have never even been outside. Part of what makes me so sad is bc I know there are millions of animals in labs in the world in the same situation. I just watched a clip recently of a group of chimps going outside for the first time. What we do to animals is heartbreaking but we are complicit. If we try to say or do anything against it we get accused of sounding like PETA. I can’t think of any other species on earth that imprisons other animals. I obviously understand that nature is cruel, but we are exponentially more so.
Animals eat other animals alive and inflict suffering on prey because it's instinctually fun for them. Some animals kill each other for fun. While factory farming is awful, at least we have some sense of empathy toward them because we have a more developed sense of empathy. Most animals have no empathy for other species at all. Most of them have little to no empathy for each other. Heck look at the absolutely horrible things intelligent animals like chimps and dolphins do to other animals and each other.
It’s worse, it’s not that we are cruel, it’s that we are aware that it’s cruel so we shove those horrible actions behind walls or within factories and we, willfully, ignore what’s happening… I don’t think there’s another animal, other than us humans that have as much empathy towards other animals and in spite of that we are responsible for so much suffering.
Same, i think its because animals have too much innocence in them, and don't actually know whats going on in (like what high evo was going to fo to them), and humans are more aware. And people think that animals dont feel or think, but it isnt true.
