    I had bought the keyboard when it was released, then sold it... I regretted it for a long time, but thanks to the software version, I'm back to the magic of this fantastic synth. Thank you for this tutorial which allows me to see a little more clearly what is going on under the hood

    Wavestation is legit especially if you flip the pad to an old akai sampler (or TAL Sampler) after.

    Very nice programming there mate, to get the authentic end product though you would want to sample that pitched up into your sampler of choice. Rad

    Fantastic tutorial, thank you. 🙏. I have an opportunity to purchase a hardware Wavestation for about $400 US, is it worth it, or do you think the software is adequate? I had a DX-7 for many years but sold it once I A/B'd the DEXED software against the hardware. Excellent tunes by the way, really dig your stuff.

    • @Thought-Forms
      @Thought-Forms  Před 2 lety +2

      Thank you, Simon! Which Wavestation? keyboard or one of the rack versions? I never really did a solid A/B test, but general thoughts is that they're very close if not identical. Once in the mix it will be hard to tell the difference. The software is more than adequate if you want to keep a low overhead
      That being said, I love my Wavestation A/D, will never sell it. It has a few tricks that the VST version does not:
      - Line input so you can run any other synth or sampler through the wavestation, tapping into those sweet MDE effects (believe this is on the A/D model only, however)
      - There is a 3rd party PCM card that lets you load up a bunch of samples and use them as oscillators (WaveRex), really unlocks limitless potential

      @@Thought-Forms Sorry, I've just seen your reply. It's the rack version I'm currently looking at purchasing. I'm using Roland Cloud and I think they do an incredible job of getting close to the hardware, but I always feel like there's something missing that I can't quite put my finger on. You're right, in the mix it's hard to tell. However, the software just doesn't excite me like the hardware. I'm really after a JD-990, but they're proving hard to come by. Thought the Wavstation might be inspiring. Thanks for taking the time to respond. 🙏

    • @ivansoto9723
      @ivansoto9723 Před rokem

      @@simonbell209 As a JD-990 user, it is indeed lovely lol. I'm pretty sure I'm the last person to snag one online for sub $1k, glad I did because they are only rising in price. It's great but I don't think it's $1k+ great. But it is pretty unique, especially with the Vintage Synth Card installed.
      Big drawback is that the cards are internal installation and it can only hold 1 card at a time. Also, I don't see the point of getting it if not for pads. Closest VST would probably be the XV-5080, but there is still a pretty big difference in sound with the fx I think.
