16 Marines arrested amid human smuggling investigation

- More than a dozen Marines are under arrest on charges that include human smuggling. The Marines are based at Camp Pendleton, about 55 miles north of the Mexican border. David Martin reports.

You have to ask how these Marines figured out how to smuggle people over? Who did they contact or who contacted them? There are bigger players involved.

These things always happen. The only difference is that the US actively arrests their corrupt solders. Meanwhile corrupt law and military enforcement in other parts of the world don't face consequences. They day the corrupt stop facing consequences here is the day you should truly be upset.
You think cause you heard about this other militaries don't face similar issues? Just cause it's not "officially" reported doesn't mean it's not happening for others as well. Every country has borders and every country has difficulty with their service members that are meant to monitor their borders. You think human and drug trafficking is a US only issue? Look at Europe, Africa, and Asia. They all have the same issues. It's just not talked about the same and observed to the same level as ours.

The Navy Seal issue is absolutely absurd. These brave men need to blow off steam. The Marine smugglers are on a completely different level of criminality and should not have been reported together. PS: I'd rather have hard-drinking warriors at my back than the woke wusses of the new US military.

If it’s proven that those Marines did what they’re accused of and found guilty in their courts martial, they should be dishonorably discharged and spend some time at Leavenworth. It’s one thing to get into a bar fight out in town, maybe even knock up an officer’s daughter, but it’s another thing entirely to violate the Constitution you’re oath bound to protect and defend.
As far as those sailors, they’re extreme men doing extreme things, and sometimes they get carried away when blowing off extreme steam. Doesn’t mean that they’re above justice, as we see here, they’ve got to answer for their actions.
They won't go to Leavenworth, they will be discharged and trust me it's punishment enough losing that EGA

Remember there are more laws in the UCMJ than there are in civilian life. You won’t be arrested and tried of you are one second late for work. In the military world that is Absent Without Leave, punishable by jail time, reduction in rank and fines! United States Air Force, 21 years, Retired!

My heart is broken his well got my son graduated from camp Pendleton boot camp in 2009. He served 13 years. It's sad that money seems to play a big part in anyone's life and this in this case ruin their credibility has a Marine and they are now no longer able to serve our country, they betrayed their oath.
Why were the two different stories combined? The first allegation seemed much more serious than a drunken party.

Dec. 3, 2019 "Military prosecutors dropped human trafficking and drug charges against most of the two dozen Marines recently arrested in front of their Camp Pendleton battalion, days after a court ruled those arrests were an unlawful violation of their rights, Marine Corps officials confirmed Tuesday." -- "The judge ruled the mass arrest - conducted in front of an 800-person battalion - was an unlawful violation of their rights, attorneys involved in two of the cases said." Most of them will be administratively discharged. Per the San Diego Union-Tribune.
