Anime
Flames
Making things pop with a little show to them using an airbrush um.. like how people make waves to a flag 🤷🏽♂️ lol
We actually have a 2 minute Tuesday on Flames already!
DeJesus Custom Footwear
Okay one I missed 🤦🏽♂️ lol
New intro is so lit. A couple of ideas: how to airbrush those neon sign themed swooshes, not sure if you have seen them but they look sick. Another vid on a custom pair of soccer boots (cleats) would be cool too. And another idea is like a quick 2 minute Tuesday video on tips when taping up a shoe. Keep it up🔥🤙🏽
And btw the longer videos every once and a while are pretty sick, the effort is unreal🙏🏽
These would sell like wild fire in the UK. People love football (soccer) and people love designer. Perfect combination 💯.
Maybe we should throw the design on a pair of soccer cleats since these are football lmao

This was one of the best tutorials I’ve seen on this subject. In depth and detailed. Awesome! And a big Thank you.
You are so amazing! Thank you for your tutorials, I’m blown away! X
Literally one of the best tutorials on CZcams! I feel 100% better about doing my own custom shoes! Thanks!
Glad we can help!
i love how you go about your toturial thank you
We tried this almost 20 years ago as a project for one company we had done full wall murals for their office. It never took off, though over the years I did shoes for
the grand kids. We heat set fabric medium first and then used "Pigment based" airbrush colours, seal with more fabric medium, heat set with a heat gun. On leather
shoes we followed it up with a product called "Wapro" for shoes, sold here in Sydney. It was the old nitrocellulose lacquer (also used in nail polish) to seal the leather work. It has held up for years. Note we use the same process on leather jackets using a heat press to set the fabric medium.
Awesome video! I'm a graphic designer and have been thinking about doing some baseball cleat designs for my three boys. Thanks for all the amazing detail with this tutorial. God bless.
Another dope video. So much knowledge dropped on this 1. And the cleats came out clean. Great work as always
Thank you so much Ron! Appreciate the support!
Great video like always. Thank you for all the knowledge your kicking out.

Thank you again for your advice

I like how you y’all though the video. Giving us the much needed information. I seen a lot of how to vids and they half ass it through the video giving us the tips
15:32 when he mentions to make sure you remove all the stencils, he misses a dot on the gg right above the one he was working on. the missing dot is also (in)visible at 19:46. looks absolutely amazing though...so talented!!!
Amazing video, you deserve a lot more subs than you have. You have a new subscriber😁👍
Thank you so much Kelton! Welcome to the channel!
Those shoes are dope
Great work!
How many coats have you applied, from the adhesion promoter and which material does it work with.
You’re the best
Excellent video!!!
Thank you!
Hi,
Great work !
Can the adhesion promoter be used on fabric ?
yesss!!!!!
You should do these same cleats in black base coat , with the green & red stripe. With white G stencil & red Nike swoosh
Bro! You should have at least 5mil subscribers. Your channel is fire!
Thank you! Really Appreicate that 🤙🏽
Great Video. I would have wanted the Gucci snake on the toe and the red and green Gucci stripes on the back tab instead with some laces to match the swoosh...but still very well done and very informative. Thanks
Glad you liked the video!
Feel free to show us yours if you end up doing it with the snake on the toe, would definitely look dope
How did you make the stencil though? Would love to see the tutorial!
Can I use a Saran Wrap later over the cleats and blow dry heat press the plastic as a protective cover ?
I so want to try this for my wife’s casual shoes
I love the vid
Thank you Dorian!
Can you use the vapor carbon to paint or just the untouchables
How do you make the Gucci vinyl stencil ?
what did you spray on for the "adhesion promoter"?
what kind of transfer paper did you use mine seems to be much more stickier than yours
Gucccciiiii !!
what was the adhesion promoter and where can i fin it as i like in the uk
Master, you only mix 2 soft in the paint for 1st and 2nd coat only isn't? Or actually we need to mix 2 soft in paint for every single coat that we put on shoes?
hey, can knit material get air brush also?
what adhesion promoter do you use? Thank you
This dude loves throwing his hands around when he talks
Can’t help it lol. Get excited to teach

How much did all the supplies cost bc I’d like some of these cleats
I would really like if your videos had subtitles in Portuguese. Great job 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
What type of transfer tape are you using?
i want to know how i can get some paint here in turkey
Why did you use regular masking tape for the Gucci stripe masking and not the green tape that you said works the best?
i need those
How long did it take you to make this pair?
What does an avg deign start at. These were really nice. Those cleats were suited as is. U took them too another level.

Can you do this with Air Force ones

Adolfo Garcia for best results I use both.

@@DeJesusCustomFootwear i will do mate cheers Do u guys hace a system that we can ask u ????
Nice vid! Doing my first NFL cleat for a top player. Still nervous but your vids def gave me some knowledge I didn’t have. One thing. For the mesh and sock liner. Did you use a fabric medium or just straight 2 thin?
gino141 if you want to do everything by the books it’s definitly ideal to paint the mesh and sock liner with fabric medium just to keep em a bit softer ! Congrats on snagging your first player would love to see em when you’re done!
DeJesus Custom Footwear thanks fam! Yeah I think I’ll go text book with this one lol. Just want to get it right so I can get more players under my belt. I’ll post it on Instagram. @kicksandkanvas Thanks again. You just don’t know how much you helped
gino141 good luck buddy, going the extra mile is always worth it in the long run. Quality over everything!
DeJesus Custom Footwear Indeed!! I try to make all my customs look factory. I really believe in that. Thanks fam
Do you need an air brush gun when dealing with stencils, or does it just make the process easier?
It’s a lot easier but your coats are thinner when airbrushing, therefore you’re ending up with a thinner layer of paint overall around the stencil when it comes to removing em
Hi,
First of all, I m a huge fan of your art. I m from switzerland (so sorry for my english) but I look a lot videos from you on youtube because you are the only one who takes the time to explain paso a paso how to customize the cleats correctly.
But I also saw that in this video you begin with « scuff it » then « sand it » and finishing with «wipe it » And in an other vidéo you begin with sand it then scuff it..
So which one is the right way?
And my last question is about the preparation of the color you use with the aerobrush to change the base color of the cleats.
You use the color (you choose) for leather + 2-thin + duller, but do you use the same preparation for the hard plastic part of the cleat, and the textile part too ?
Thank you for your time and answer :-)
Sand it first.. yes just paint and 2thin, no need for duller if you can use a matte finish at the end .
@@DeJesusCustomFootwear thanks for your answer! So sand, scuff and wipe, 👌🏼
And no need to add the 2-soft in the airbrush when you pass on the textil part of the cleat, ok entendido!
I will wait for your next vidéo like 👀 Best teacher ever 🙌🏻
Yo what would the financial income be like in customizing shoes? Also what’s your scheduled like whe. Customizing shoes ? Do you do this full time, part time , or overtime??
Full time for almost a decade. Kinda like asking any artist , barber, any of that their income.. there’s going to be a hugeeeee variance
How many coats of promotor do you spray on the cleats before you hit it with paint?
israel soto 2, I apply one and then give that 10-15 mins or so to dry. Then hit it with another coat and while that coat is still wet start applying paint
Are u using acetone with the scotch brite pad when prepping the cleats?
Yes!
fire
Thank you!
Can you make a 2min video on how to do drip customs brooo?
How would you recommend prepping a knit cleat?
If it's as soft as mesh, there wouldn't be any prepping like there would be with plastic or leather.
Also how much does a sander cost
can we use blow driers instead of heat guns? and where do u buy transfer pape
Yes you can, there’s a lot of options on amazon
Are you using acetone with the scuff pads in the first step? And can the sanding be done effectively without the sander? Thanks!
Yes use acetone w scuff pad, and sanding can certainly be done without the hand sander.. just a bit more physical work to put in
Yep. It looked like nail polish remover.
Hankerson Photography & Video acetone in a nail polish remover bottle
Is there a certain place you got the 1400 grit sandpaper from I only found 1500 and 2000
The 1500 will work 👌🏽
quick question.. how do i wash them and will the design come off when i do? (and what abt airforce customs?)
Haile Richards just regular ol soap and water for cleaning, same thing for air forces
How much dry time do you allow before applying the finisher?
At least an hour
So do u put duller in every coat or just the last coat and finisher?
You can use duller the whole time, duller weakening your paint is a myth, that’s only if you use way too much.. if you feel more comfortable you can use it on just the last 2 coats also
Where did you buy the box use for air brushing spinning the shoes
czcams.com/video/HS5ieCOqorA/video.html
we've got a full video review on it here!
I don't have an airbrush yet. Can you give me some tips on how to get the same results using a paintbrush?
Brianne taylor yeah deifnitly you can follow all these steps same prep , and then basically the same painting... just takes a bit longer
What kind of vinyl and transfer paper you use in this video?
Oracal 811 and greenstar layflat
Loving your work DeJesus. Keep it up. I have a question. Do you use both airbrush and airguns in your work? Airbrush for more infinite, detailed work such as .2 and a an airgun of .5 to cover large area’s of the cleat/shoe? You use the Iwata-Medea Eclipse. Is that enough to spray a complete shoe and also intricate details? Advise very much appreciated (oh and what compressor do you recommend?)
I only use badger patriot 105 for everything. You can use just about any compressor, I’ve used a cheap one from harbor freight for years
@@DeJesusCustomFootwear Thanks for prompt response! In your description you stated the airbrush is a Iwata-Medea Eclipse HP CS. Maybe back in 2018 when you uploaded the video, it's what you used? And now you're using a badger patriot 105?
@@stetst no sorry about that man, it somehow must have been the wrong link. Just double checked the vid and you can see it’s the badger
@@DeJesusCustomFootwear All good - cheers mate. If any videos on painting sole of soccer cleats, link would be appreciated champ.
@@stetst never wanna paint outsoles man, always going to be the first thing to crack
Going over this one again...I have some hard plastic on some cleats that I am working on...recommend the same steps?
Sorry for the late reply, but yes, same process. just take more time with prepping!!
DeJesus Custom Footwear thanks! You guys are Awesome!
Great job DCF !!!!
What is the model of the cleats ??
Those are Vapor Untouchable Pro Lows
@@DeJesusCustomFootwear
Thnx, i did lots of researchs for the vinyl stencil but i dont get it
where do you get this base model cleat? I can't find white vapor untouchable pros anywhere
Usman Khan yeah all whites are rare nowadays. Ebays the only spot really
Ok
Did you use any 2 soft on the mesh and sock liner?
Yup! Anytime you’re working on those materials and want em to remain soft you’ll want to use 2soft
Do the sander come with all of the sandpaper needed with it
WHATWRLD nope but you can just buy seperate packs of the sandpaper sheets
Do you sand even the mesh of the cleat?
Nope not needed on the mesh
Before you started painting you mentioned the adhesion promoter what exactly is that?
It does pretty much what it says. It promotes adhesion to harder surfaces like plastic/metal/patent leather because the paint will chip from these surfaces pretty easily without it.
Jon Esaks what brand adhesión promoter is best?
@@ricemancustoms6974 I've tried a few and the best response is to try a few different ones on some scrap leather and see what you like the best! I use Dupli-color plastic adhesion promoter and it works pretty well for me!
I understand what you mean about finishing and prep but could you do a video on how to get shoes scratch resistant on different materials (specifically sports shes) as in not just a matt finished ...... More like a hard FLEXIBLE coat that can withstand the key scratch test and blade scratch test. I used to use krylon Matt finish but any more that 2 coats will make the shoe brittle from my experience ( on MANY MANY OCCASIONS). Now i mix matt finisher with a fabric medium 1:1. Its very effective but there must be a better way.
Daniel Minamore that definitly sounds like you sprayed a little much of the krylon spray, as far as scratch resistant, Raleigh restoration makes a great sealer. I still believe that really only equates for about 5-10% of how well your paint will hold. I can’t think of why fabric medium would help scratch resistance but that’s interesting.
@@DeJesusCustomFootwear the reason i use the fabric medium is because it ads flexibility. If you spread fabric medium over wax paper ,let it dry and pick its almost like a clear elastic membrane. Combine that without a matt finished which set hard. It gives a good combination of hard and flexible at once. It works well but I'm still experimenting with different combinations.
Daniel Minamore yeah in theory a solid top coat like that would help for sure. Sometimes these out there combinations make for some excellent new discoveries!
Do your customers pay you up front or after you customize the cleats/shoes
WHATWRLD up front
