Not putting Anthem on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd spot on the disappointing list is almost criminal.
not a list made by Falcon
One might say, it's disappointing
This was the biggest flop in my gaming history
I had so so much hype for the game when I’d heard about it a week before release
Sure enough, wiff
You don’t know how badly I wish that IP would continue and have a reboot. The gameplay is phenomenal! An iron man suit type game is my dream. Man disappointed is an understatement
I figure it came down to putting either Anthem or Andromeda on the list. They chose Andromeda. I agree that Anthem should've been the Bioware entry instead.
I'd argue Battlefield 2042 deserves to be on the list. They promised catering to OG fans and bringing back authentic battlefield experience, but ended disappointing everyone. shitty maps, half baked portal system and not to mention broken during launch. As a battlefield fan since bad company 2, I've never been more disappointed. BF4 had a horrible laugh but the core game was great which it eventually showed. BF2042 feels heartless.
Nowadays I’ve actually been having a lot of fun with the game
Agree
Battlefield 2042 was going to be a shit game and you knew it.
Haven't even watched the full video and it's mental if it not on there
You are right. The hype for this game after the trailer drops was out of roof. But it turns out to be the greatest disappointment ever created.
Callisto protocol being $70 for a 5 hour game and absolutely nothing else was criminal. Then they had the nerve to release dlc for like +$15 lol
Thankfully I got the game from Humble Choice, and you know what? It's not even arguably worth the money with that price either, everything feels so janky and unfun..
Saints row man 🤦🏾♂️ The fact that we will never get another saints row game because of there shitty decision is insane. What a horrible way for a franchise to end
I mean who knows? Hopefully the IP will be bought one day and a Studio that cares will work on it
I loved saints row 3 and 4 and gat out of hell with a passion bro devastating
I'm the only person who enjoyed it lol
Saints Row one and two are the pinnacle of the series. especially the first game. Saints row 1 is one of the best games of all time and that’s a fact💯
@@Catchaidz those was the worst ones
Not a single pokemon RPG on a biggest gaming disappointment list is insane
Seriously. S+V was garbage
Seems like an easy option for me. Half the list could be recent Pokémon games lol
It’s because Gamefreak has managed to lower everyone’s standards finally. They’d prefer not to be compared to other AAA titles at all cost, literally hardly compete
People love Pokemon and Nintendo plays to the beat of their own drum.....but that last game was a disaster
Because it's not like you weren't expecting them to do that
I wouldn't say Suicide Squad was that big of a disappointment, since no one expected much from it to begin with
100%……had zero expectation that it would be good. WHO did?
I would counter that by saying a lot of people bought into the hype of Rocksteady doing another Arkham-verse game while also the devs pushing this as on par with those games.
It would have been fine as a game-as-a-service model if the game had the story and playability at the level of the previous Batman games.
It was more that it was Rocksteady, and all the teases and clues over the years pointed towards a superman game. Then...7-8 years after their last game, we got Suicide Squad 🙃
😂🎯🤣 the first film was,, meh.. 😅 I automatically knew the game would be worse 😅😂🤣
I think there was some hype when it was first announced, long before we learned that it would be a live-service game and a third-person looter shooter. Sure, practically no one thought it would be good once we learned what it really was, but at the very beginning I think I remember some excitement for it.
Anthem, Skull and bones, Bf2042, Starfield, Fallout 76, Battlefront 2, Immortals of Aveum etc. So many games deserved to be on this list.
in a top 10, some of the games you mentioned aren't as terrible to qualify for it but they seem like it because the expectations were simply too high
I can't believe more people aren't saying Starfield. Easily the worst HUGE game of recent memory
@@WhiteRhino6how
Whats wrong with Immortals of Aveum? Havent played it, but it looks cool, and reviews said it was alright, just a bit short
You had expectations for Immortals?
I feel like y'all missed out on a bunch of remakes that flopped. The GTA remasters and Warcraft 3 Reforged come to mind.
Gta definitive edition has been fantastic for years now
Skull and Bones is *easily* my #1. Ubisoft turned what looked to be a surefire hit when it was announced into a decade-late dumpster fire. It boggles the mind just how badly they threw away such a golden opportunity.
I think they were trying to avoid that bit of low hanging fruit
Tbf peoples expectations were super low since last few years before release
I mean we got what, one trailer from like 7 years ago and that’s it? Idk why any got so hyped for a game that essentially disappeared after its E3 reveal. People need to stop hyping things in their heads and instead learn to look at the evidence before they blindly throw away money
I wouldn't say N1, I doubt a game launch will suck more than Cyberfunk for me.
But definitely top 10.
Eh. I would've been really surprised if it ended up being good.
If you're going to put a BioWare game on this list then replace Andromeda with Anthem. Not saying Andromeda shouldn't be here, but Anthem certainly deserves it more than Andromeda
It is a worse game but I think Andromeda gets the spot because of the name. The Mass Effect Hype was insane. Thus, the disappointment was higher even tho Anthem screwed up more from a gameplay-POV.
I love ME. I mayhe got through 3 hours of Andromeda. It sucked bad. And I'm not a purist about this stuff either, but it was a bad game that us fans had been waiting years to play.
Nah Andromeda set the stage. Anyone dumb enough to still preorder EA/BioWare collab games after that should instead be disappointed with themselves. It’s like that slow kid who touches a hot stove then for some reason touches it again
People seem to forget that Andromeda was made by Bioware Montreal not their Edmonton studio where the original trilogy was made.
Andromeda is way better on NG+ when you can mostly skip all the crafting bs and just enjoy the combat. Jet pack+ vanguard charge combo is still epic af
You forgot Starfield.
I love your videos guys and agree with this list but a part 2 is needed for sure. Anthem, Evolve, Skull n bones were at least 3 games that i reackon were some massive missed potentiels and dissapointments on/ after their launch. They were more out there like you said and i would like to see a part 2 to this list going over some of the other missed big games from the bigger studios. Anthem and Evolve still hurt :(
I'm surprised not to see Fallout 76 here, As a massive fan of those games and Bethesda in general I was super disappointed about that.
yep. not just that the game was in bad shape when it was released - the additional grifts from Bethesda made it even more worse.
+1 or even fo4 or starfield. bethesda is rly dropping the ball for many reasons and deserve the award of being on this list instead of "most innovative gameplay"
I’d say Starfield too. It’s not as bad as some on this list, but I think it was a major disappointment for most fans of Bethesda.
Yeah. FO76 and Starfield both, I'm not buying another Bethesda game ever again.
Even though it's really fun now, I agree. When it launched, it was a complete joke.
Without Anthem this is just wrong.
agreed
This list should have that one marvel game that had the shitty version of all the characters and you played as the one girl
Well for anthem to made ppl actually needed to expect something good
I genuinely enjoyed The Callisto Protocol even though the ending didn’t really stick. I went with a day one preorder/season pass purchase for it, and honestly even though it was short, The Final Transmission DLC was pretty cool, and it gives a definitive ending to the game. Really wish it would get a sequel, but I don’t see that happening at all.
Fallout 76 - paying £45 on release for an online only game that you couldnt play online.
It sucks but just like No Mans Sky and Cyberpunk, they contiuned to put the work into it and make an awesome game. Its so good now and its just like a generic FO game but with other players. No game should release in a terrible state but atleast they got the balls to admit it and build on it
Question: where was Forespoken? Major publisher in SquareEnix, big online marketing push, big CZcams gamer push from the Final Fantasy community as folks originally thought this was the FF14 name for what became Endwalker, and a much edgier and brash main character dropping F-bombs in the trailer with open world exploration and magic and tie-ins with modern day settings…
Only to deliver the worst written main character who made you hate her more as the game progressed, with an open world that was immensely empty, and a story that sounded like it came from a modern-day Disney writer…
And let’s not forget about Anthem, the game who’s letdown launched multiple channels to new heights of fandom.
They even show clips of Forspoken in this video, lol.
Forespoken wasn’t highly anticipated so what was there to be disappointed by? 😂
It's a Sweet Baby game. So.. No criticism from game journalists. 🤪
I think they were trying to avoid pulling too many games from the same year. They already pulled a few titles from 2022, the absolute worst offenders, so they probably skipped it (for now, unless they decide to make a second list)
Forspoken couldn't possibly dissapoint. Nobody expected it to be anything other than boring, empty trash, with a garbage main character ...which it was.
If Cyberpunk is on here then No Man's Sky should be also.
I think they want the most disappointing game of each year as oppose to several disappointing games of this year. Otherwise Forespoken would've been on the list, too.
@@deannal.newton9772 It wasn't 1 per year in the list. It had a few games from 2022 and 2023.
@@deannal.newton9772I get your point, but they didn’t make this point very clear
This video concept definitely has enough content for another video
👍
You touched on P.T., but glossed over MGSV and the fact that the game was released without an actual ending.
For such a strong series to just come to an end like that, without even a real ending... I mean that's a massive disappointment.
to be fair, the game was genuinely well recieved as fuck and honestly the fact that they practically enslaved kojima and then kicked him out right before he could finish and STILL people loved the game says quite a bit.
You should do a top 10 underrated bangers of the early 2000-2010s those were the golden days of gaming I swear.
I am surprised you guys didn’t mention that Marvel Avengers game that game was so hyped up and it left me so disappointed. Lost my faith in gaming after that. Indies have been fun though!
I have played it recently so I might miss release chaos, and it preformed well plus the story is cool.
"More glitches than you've ever seen...."
Fallout: New Vegas long-timer: Wanna bet?
Those are features. lol
Funny enough, I just replayed NV and didnt come across anything that stood out. few crashes, but that was about it.
No game makes me feel more insane than trying to play un modded Fallout 3 on pc
@@creativeusername1129Why you need them?
Whole game feels like Bingo Bango Bongo.
@@creativeusername1129 I just did a vanilla play through. Mods or not, FO3 did not age well.
I have zero pity for anyone actually disappointed in Suicide squad, y’all knew it was gonna be bad from the start. We knew it was gonna be live service, the people behind the Arkham games already left, and anyone who bought it and was disappointed is the reason it made more money than it deserved.
this could be a top 30 list easily, sad seeing so many games ending up being so disappointing
First moment i saw Suicide Squad gameplay it looked like Fortnite to me and i wasn't about it at all lol. Ya it should have been this way at launch but Cyberpunk is amazing now man. Phantom Liberty is a masterpiece
Finished Phantom Liberty earlier today. They really turned it around with patches. It’s almost night and day from how the game was at launch to how it is now
*Its me. I'm the biggest disappointment of the last 10 years*
never too late to change things around, stay strong bro!
If your family and friends still love you you’re fine. Screw what society views as being successful. Our society rewards criminals more than normal good morality having hard working people.
No matter how disappointing u think u are you defo better than all these game companies
How do you live with yourself?
Emotional Damage
It's insane how many videos game ranx releases. These guys are absolute grinders
Ikr, complaints about studios releasing poor quality stuff and then half their videos are dud output or rehashing another video slightly differently.. would be better as a fortnightly magazine style with special editions for games events etc
After looking through the comments sections I think yall definitely gotta add a part 2 to this topic 😂😂😂
As a person who has Jake’s style of optimism and neutrality, the big disappointing thing is losing your money when you have the hope of these games succeeding but see it fail miserably and holding the brick of a game.
Speak up with your wallet. Stop preordering games. Wait for reviews from trusted sources. Wait for sales. Otherwise, things won't change. Look at COD and Madden. Same games every year, but people always buy them expecting a different experience than the last 400 games in the series.
Respect for CDPR for never giving up on Cyberpunk 2077 and making something good out of that shit launch.
Unlike what Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics did with Marvel’s Avengers.
Dude they fully turned that game around and it wasn't even that bad at launch. Sucks thry cut support right when fans were gonna get everything requested and it was even deved. They Gave war machines character design to iron man as a skin.
@@jinuouslopez9069Cyberpunk wasn't a bad Gane to begin with. Story, characters, gameplay, workd design were solid from the start. Technical aspects were bad. Marvel Avengers is pretty bad all the way
2 words: Embracer Group
When Avengers was getting the love it needed, Embracer made an offer for Crystal Dynamics that SE didn’t want to refuse. 2022 they sell, and now in 2024 they are posting a massive loss due to the games no longer in development as they want to refocus on primary IP.
That screams tons of remakes and remasters of their older games, and it’s about time they start considering a new MMO.
@@thelastpersononearth9765 the bad thing was their shameless attitude and lies,
@@BlakeAustin2011 To be fair to Embracer Group, they had a lot of people interfere with a big deal with a Saudi interest that would have bankrolled a ton of stuff instead of them having to try and suddenly make things work with a much more limited budget across all studios.
Anthem and No Mans Sky would be 2 as well. Both were terrible at launch but had a lot of potential, I'm happy No Mans Sky managed a come back but will forever be disappointed with EA and Bioware for Anthem
Are you high?
@ 5:40 the before you buy pop up made me laugh so hard 😂
Warcraft III Reforged. An utter mess that destroyed the original game, literally, you couldn't play it anymore. I still think about it sometimes.
The biggest disappointment for me was scale bound, between platinum and Microsoft. I was super excited to play that game and now I’m disappointed it will never come out. I hope platinum or Microsoft whoever owns IP can do something with it later.
And it's crazy because ever since they canceled that project they hadn't released a noteworthy first party title outside of Forza and Halo (and recently Starfield, but only because they had to buy Zenimax/ BSG to even be competitive with their 1st party titles)
1000% agree with this choice. Couldn't believe when this got cancelled. Especially after it was playable at some media events and was getting good feedback.
I'm mainly on Playstation and even I was sad/disappointed when Scalebound got cancelled. The concept sounded so cool man!
im very glad you also mentioned how cyberpunk redeemed what it was meant to be, after quite some updates
Great list, I can see in the comments people are unhappy with certain games not being on it, but let’s be honest. There could be a list of 100 disappointing games and there will still be some left off. It says more about the state of games than the list. Thanks Jake!
No Man's Sky?
Starfield?
Diablo?
Starfield was good
Diablo 3 or 4?
@@stlegion-kt4hj no it wasn't
@@ModestPavement 3 and 4
@@sprmn1983 okay I can agree with Diablo 3 but 4 is pretty okay. It isn’t revolutionary but it is way better than d3
Never forgiving Volition for their unacceptable behavior and actions towards the fans who made them famous in the first place. R.I.P Saints Row
It was publisher shenanigans. Volition wanted Johnny Gat and the rest of the Saints in the reboot but they got told no. They got thrown under the bus for something they didn't even want to develop. It happens more often than people care to admit.
Exactly
Gonna need a part two and three for this video, there was so many more disappointments. No Man's Sky at launch, Starfield, Forespoken, that Battlefield game that came out last year I think, Total War Pharaoh, metal gear survive, AC Unity at launch, Starwars Battlefront 2, anthem, company of heroes 3 and on and on......
Thank you for mentioning Cyberpunk 2077. They have done a lot of progress and made incredible changes that now the game is amazing.
However, We should not forget how they tried to play us and just pushed the game half-baked.
Just a reminder, the higher ups are to be blamed, not the devs.
I'm amazed Anthem didn't get on the list
Why nobody is taking about what mess was the skull and bones game
I don’t think anyone really had high hopes for that game in the first place people already knew it was gonna be bad
I love Betas / Demos, they save me so much money.
because nobody expected a game claimed to be "AAAA" to have anything worth playing in the first place
Is it a mess though?
@@eternaldarkness3139 poor
I loved The Callisto Protocol and Mass Effect Andromeda. I also wish people would quit saying that Cyberpunk 2077 was so bad it had to be delisted. That is not case at all. It was delisted because CDPR promised refunds and they didn't have the authorization to do that, they overstepped their bounds and PS pulled it to avoid selling something they would have to refund because some company said they could.
It was unplayable... I guess you already owned a ps5 or a pc when it was released. I agree it was removed because of the refunds, but the game was in such a very bad state when it was launched that at the end, it was the main reason it contributed to the refund claims
Covering ten years of gaming history is ambitious
Just why rocksteady ?!
Honestly Tiny Tina's Wonderlands and New Tales from the Borderlands deserve a spot on this list. Wonderlands had NO real endgame and a repetitive grind of Chaos levels. While New Tales could never live up to the 1st Tales from the Borderlands.
Hm, I loved Tiny Tina. I personally thought it was miles better than BL3. I do remember it being pretty short though.
@@ModestPavement BL3 is way better than Wonderlands. Only thing wrong with BL3 is the story having 2 crappy villains and a blotted Eden 6 run. While Wonderlands only has gameplay and a decent story, but nothing to do but grind as a endgame. Honestly with BL3 I don't think Gearbox could of come up with a better bad guy than Jack. So they went cringey streamer to annoy the players.
@@Frank_Torre well I think the franchise needed a refresh with new environments and I enjoyed the DnD aspect to it. The DLC was trash though and a rip-off.
@@ModestPavement I know. Wonderlands hit on the gameplay, story and Will Arnett as the Dragon Lord. Yet they gave us endless Chaos chambers and meh dlc Mirrors. Which mirror bosses at their most powerful weren't close to raid bosses. If only they put a DnD twist on current BL2/BL3 raid bosses in Wonderlands.
Man I just posted about this. It had so much potential. I remember finishing it and sitting in front of the TV thinking: well this was a short ride, but the DLCs could be wild... I couldn't be more wrong and disappointed in my life.
The really crazy thing about PT is that graphically it still holds up and in many respects looks better than some current action adventure games. It's so disappointing that Konami decided not to back the development of Silent Hills or at least sell the rights off to some other big studio because it had massive potential to be yet another era defining game from Kojima.
Would be nice if there was a list for most underrated games in AAA, AA, and Indie games, I wanna know if I missed a game. For example, I almost missed Ghostwire Tokyo because it wasn't popping out in my youtube algorythm.
Starfield deserves a spot here
Easily
Debatable.
I bought and played Saints Row 2022, and as a fan of the older games.. Its just not the same. It's not mechanically a BAD game, it just shouldn't be a Saints Row game.
Imagine if this was a way to introduce a new group of gangsters, trying to claim the Saints Row enterprise as their own, only for the REAL Saints to show up in the sequel and it'd be an all out gangster war. See how easy it is to make something awesome like that?
I recently tried to sit down and play it and two things finally got me to drop after 5 days of plugging away at it.
The guns didn't feel right at all. Everything felt too much like a automatic shotgun and I had no real accuracy which bothered me.
The money and the plot. I was making thousands on missions and yet my character is worried about student loans and his roomates that are likely making simular money are worried about a $300 toaster. It was too much to trudge through and now I am looking at playing the first Saints Row for the first time.
Thats why i still had fun with it. It was my first saints row game.
as someone who played all the previous Saints Row games the reboot was kinda fun to play its just the story and certain other things that didn't make sense and felt unnecessary for a Saints Row game..
@@Hybris51129 Have you played Saints Row 2 before?
Literally the perfect balance between over the top goofiness and serious, straight up violent, gruesome scenes
The people that made this game themselves said they weren’t fans of the original saints rows & didn’t like stuff such as fb’s (freckle bitches)
The fact that one of the biggest disappointments in gaming history isn't on here is mind blowing. No man's sky was THE disappointment.
Also starfield
PT is 10 years old and still looks better than the recent horror games.
I only played Mass Effect in 2023 with the ultimate edition and then moved to Andromeda and acctualy had a good time.
I played the trilogy In 2021 when the remastered version came out ,one of the best gaming experiences i've ever had, i've been wondering, is andromeda At least decently enjoyable,?
All ive heard is its garbage dont play it.
@DrizzyEmin3m You may not enjoy the story, but the gameplay and combat were better than the other ME games.
@@DrizzyEmin3mit has a slow start but it’s a lot of fun when it eventually gets going. Definitely doesn’t feel the same as the OG trilogy, more of a generic open-world sci-fi 3rd person shooter with fun abilities
The combat is fun but the role playing and story are mediocre at best. It’s basically your typical ea open world game lol
Disabled brain
I like how Jake doesn't even count "Forspoken" as a game (it is utterly dissapointment)
Is it worth $15?
Asking for a friend.
@@travisspazz1624 Hell nah, instead try investing on Indie games like oneshot, eastshade, katana zero, coccon, undertale
@@nikkeydcundertale is not indie at least not anymore
The fact that idiotic CEO’s and executives keep getting millions and millions while laying off thousands of talented devs and employees that can barely afford life.
A lot of people will disagree with me on this, but, to me, as a long-time Remedy fan (from the first Max Payne up to Control), Alan Wake II quite frankly disappointed me a lot with all the stuff I looked into as research before deciding to grab a copy (gameplay, story, and so on) that I decided not to purchase and support it. And, before anyone says so, yes, I like that style of action-survival horror, and I was anticipating it at first... until I eventually decided to watch full walkthroughs and was just plainly saddened by the gameplay loop and how a crap ton of its runtime dragged on and on. And that's not even talking about how Alan himself was treated in his own game. He gets the less interesting enemy types to fight against, and he barely gets any weapons to use. The only positive thing I can say about Alan's side of the campaign would be him getting the more intriguing, mind-bending set pieces. That's it. And I'm not a fan of Saga Anderson as a character at all. Not even mentioning the involvement of SBI here with my personal feedback in terms of Saga's character writing and personality. Oh, and I know lots loved it, but I did not like at all how that musical segment was done. And I grew up loving a lot of musicals as a kid. The integration here was just not it for me. It's really a combination of things I know are subjective to my preferences and expectations along with what I believe to be objective issues with the game's overall structure, pacing, writing, and gameplay mechanics.
For Redfall: It's made by Arkane Austin, Dishonored and Deathloop are made by Arkane Lyon! Those are two different studios. They might share some workforce in asset creation and art direction but in terms of game direction and lead as a whole they're entirely different studios. So it's not really a question of what happened with the studio since Dishonored but rather it's an issue between two different studios, different directors and leads and higher ups
I expected to see Diablo 3, Overwatch 2 and Fallout 76 on this list for sure. I do think #1 is correct tho for sure
I’ve just finished cyberpunk 2077 (March ‘24) and have to say that it is absolutely an amazing game now. Easily the best game I’ve played in years, really really good. I didn’t want it to end so I platinumed it.
Alright where is starfield?
Nah it was okay tbf, not great but it was decent imo
Thank you, I think people forget how much hype starfield had compared to what people got
Anyone who was expecting a lot from Starfield didn't play No Man's Sky, Day1.
SF was fine, and almost exactly what I expected. NMS was almost exactly what I expected, but too boring to keep playing, originally.
(I have 800hrs in SF, and 2500 in NMS.)
Starfield is the most ok Bethesda game and they...just need to make better. It's a 6.5-7 for me at it's peak and the dlc needs to address some issues to make it any better.
But it has some A-class moments still, when it's at full power, Starfield us pretty dope NGL
I'm also worried about Elder Scrolls 6 now cause of Starfield and man, they really need to make good faces. They can't keep making uncanny faces like this in this era with all their funding.
We'll see what happens..
I thought people loved that game
The frame rate for Scarlet/Violet was unacceptable considering it's the best-selling entertainment franchise of all time.
Callisto Protocol only has two problems:
-it was half-baked from the start, like CP2077, and fixed only year later
-members of the team moaning they were developing it overtime.
The first problem is fixed- I've played the game for the first time only last year and on my PS4 Slim. And this game is glorious, I like it so much. After it, I can't play Dead Space series as it was before- Dead Space seems so much half-аssed and outdated, while I get so used to the impact from the controls and battle system in Callisto Protocol.
The second problem is money, envy and ill will. The moment like "fans ruin the music of their idol"- the people who know how much the budget was, ruin everything with their envy.
Great game after all, even without sequel.
A very disturbing phenomenon today in the video game industry, we gamers are very frustrated, we feel that video games have recently been going backwards instead of developing forward
Starfield I think could deserve a spot on this list, people were expecting a huge densely packed game with things to do on thousands of planets but instead got a few planets to do things on with a mostly empty space but I agree with this list thanks for another great video
more like people making huge expectations in their minds, Todd only said there would 1k planets, he never hyped saying there would be immersion and stuff, cyberpunk on the other hand just for sake of example hyped their game like this groundbreaking rpg with multiple branching stories and shit and it was nothing like that, only 2 scripted parts, aside from the terrible problems, although I gotta admit the glitches were one of the best ever.
Theyre too scared to dare offend a studio with a comunity that big. Damn shame but yehh...
I was a bit sad when I saw it wasnt coming to playstation since i dont own an xbox. Now I dont care at all, no interest in it.
Stop it, the game was and isn't that bad, it's only been a year and there's a update coming out
I think part of the problem is people built it up to something the devs never even promised. They expected it to be like no man’s sky which the devs never said space travel was going to be that immersive. They expect every single planet to be a massive open world where you could explore the whole planet, which again the devs never said it was going to be that.
By no means a good game tho. I got it on GamePass and it bored the heck out of me after a few hours. It definitely was *not* Fallout In Space like people kept claiming it would be
No starfield? the brand new ip from bethesda, supposed to be skyrim in space? i did play, i did like it, but i still havent gone back to it, but i would skyrim
I’d totally love to see a sequel to Callisto Protocol, such a beautiful game and it is fun.
I put 90 hrs into Cyberpunk on release on a base PS4 and never even touched the story, I'm still on Ghost Town
I never played the original Mass Effect games but I loved ME Andromeda
It's gets a lot of undeserved hate. Andromeda was a big shift in tone from the original series. Removing the original's renegade/paragon system of storytelling made it a regular RPG.
Disabled brain
Then that makes sense why you loved it, which is not a bad thing whatsoever. ME fans that played the OG trilogy just had a different level of expectation when it came to storytelling and characters after falling in love with the narrative and cast of the first saga. Andromeda's gameplay was great though imo, even though I couldn't bring myself to care for the narrative
No Mans Sky?
Fallout 76?
I mean seriously.
Maybe because both of those games has since redeemed themselves. If that's the reason they were omitted, then Cyberpunk shouldn't be on this list either.
Yea I'm really surprised fallout 76 didn't make the list. I mean the Ls for Bethesda surpassed just the game and that horrible launch. The "canvas" *nylon* bag, the subsequent in-game currency offerings as a "sorry" for the botched canvas bag mess (where you couldn't even buy the in-game MTX canvas bag with the "sorry" money they gave those players), the Nuka Dark rum disaster..... I mean they streamlined nothing but disappointment with everything surrounding Fallout 76 😂😂😂😂😂
@@TheForbiddenOne55 It's almost like they put very little thought and effort into making this video because Fallout 76 and No Mans Sky are blatantly obvious examples that were much worse than most of the games mentioned in the video.
I actually played Mass Effect Andromeda before I played the originals. I remember andromeda having crisp combat but that’s about it. The trilogies combat was clunkier but my character and relationships and story were way more memorable for sure
This is almost every ME fan's main takeaway too. The characters, situations, locales and story in Andromeda are entirely forgettable.... but that combat and movement was fluid af lol
I didn't play Cyberpunk until about two years ago, and even at that point I didn't have high hopes after following the debacle at release. Turned out to be one of the best games I've ever played.
I'm a huge Dragon Age fan. I'm also one of those who came to the Mass Effect series late, and basically played them in reverse, starting with Andromeda.
I honestly loved Andromeda. It was my introduction to the ME series, so I wasn't weighed down by nostalgia over the original trilogy, and I had a lot of fun and even replayed it a couple times. Sci fi isn't normally my thing at all, but I thought of it as DA:Inquisition with blasters and robots and aliens, and it was a solid 8 out of 10 for me.
I played the original (remastered) trilogy for the first time recently, and I was kind of underwhelmed based on the gushing reverence for it I see constantly. They were really good games, and I'm glad I experienced them, but I was expecting a transcendent experience way better than the hated Andromeda, and I'm still waiting. I suspect Mass Effect was pure heaven to starved sci fi RPG fans in the late aughts, and today nostalgia is skewing things as it tends to, and a decent follow up game gets shit on unfairly.
Yeah I liked Andromeda and I liked th efact it was trying t ogo for a lighter tone after th etrilogy. I mean sure th etrilog ywas great in it's own way too that's why I still play it. But fo rme it's the fact that they actually said that Andromeda was trying to be it's own thing and don' t compare it with the trilogy and the problem was people still did which for me is what ruined any chance Andromeda had not the fact of the game bein gnecressarily bad. I liked what they did with Andromeda but then I listened to wha tthey said and judged Andromeda on it's own merits which I felt mad ei ta good gam efor the time and a refershing chang eof direction for the franchise.
@@sjsharp2007 I also enjoyed Andromeda, but mostly for the gameplay. And it's odd when you think about it: The previous games' story was top notch, but the gameplay was not that great (ME 3 being the exception). Andromeda's story is certainly the weakest, but has the best gameplay in the series. And driving the Nomad is miles better than the paperweight known as the Mako and the tissue paper-armored Hammerhead.
I think you forgot the announcement of Diablo Immortal.
Starfield hands down.
Suprised Digimon Survive didn't at least get an honorable mention. I know alot of people were disappointed because they all saw that one gameplay trailer and assumed it was going to mostly be a strategy rpg instead of the mostly visual novel game it was.
Gamers have been screwed over by this industry so many times over the last 5 to 10 years that I just can't get excited for new releases anymore.
imo Mass Effect Andromeda is a better game than Starfield.
Low bar.
Damn 🤔..... damn you might be right on this 😂
They didn't put Starfield or Fallout 76 on the list... for some reason.
I'd rather play a few of these games than Starfield. And Fallout 76 was flat out just unplayable and broken at launch... along with all of the not in game scandal that came along with it. Even now that it is fixed, it is still trash.
@@ransom-- I played 76 at launch on PC and it was not broken, and I did everything that was on the map.
Some bigger disappointment than few games in the list: Overwatch 2 (Mainly the promised PVE contents), Diablo 4, Battlefield 2042 (All the hypes from the trailers that being killed in launch), No Man's Sky early release, Fallout 76, Starfield's emptiness, and Crackdown 3 (After long years of waiting)..
So glad I am usually a few years behind before I buy a game. So many games that I have bought GOY versions - and were great - were apparently buggy messes when they first released. Like The Witcher 3 and New Vegas (which I am deep into first playthrough) and many others!
The fact that BioWare bumbled something with the Mass Effect name on it blows my mind to this day.
Battlefield 2042, never been so disappointed and felt ripped off after buying at launch.
Are you kidding me. Callisto Protocol was no way near the biggest disappointment list. You tripping my man
And no BF2042 or Fallout 76 either. Both of those were much bigger disappointments than Callisto Protocol
Seriously, Callisto hit the sci-fi horror spot. I don’t understand why people complain about it so much.
what even makes it odd, is that its a list of greatest dissapointments in 10years.
CP was bad. Sorry but fact.
Exactly. And that's coming from me who loved my time with it but also can see clearly its biggest, most glaring issues. There are a truck load of bigger disappointments than The Callisto Protocol. I expected an action-survival horror game with melee combat that should be combined with the gunplay to make the mechanics fun. And that's what I got for the most part. I'll always find it a bummer how there are people out there that expect new games or entertainment products in general to have to be the big, new, innovative, game-changing thing to be considered not a disappointment.
I’m probably a rare case but I played Cyberpunk on launch on the Base PS4, and aside from a few crashes, I experienced minimal bugs and I played through the game twice before any major updates. I actually started getting more bugs after they released updates lol.
Here's some you missed: Anthem, Destiny, Battlefield 2042, Battlefield V, numerous COD games, No Man's Sky, Fallout 4, Fallout 76, Starfield, Pokemon Sw/Sh, Pokemon Sc/Vi, Skull & Bones, every AC game since Origins, everything Supermassive has touched since Until Dawn, Mirror's Edge Catalyst, Star Wars Battlefront 1 & 2, Diablo IV, Far Cry 6, Resident Evil 3, Lords of the Fallen, Forspoken, Shadow of War...
I would even add The Last of Us 2. Fantastic gameplay but abysmal story.
Crackdown 3 and the Battlefront Classic Remasters are high up on my list for disappointing
Definitely gotta mention Anthem
Ive said it before and ill say it again, CDPR said the 2077 was not ready, they knew it wasn’t ready, they got bullied, pressured, and threatened into releasing it because people didn’t want to wait. Im not saying let them off completely, but we should,at this point, have eased up on them by now.
I will never not regret deleting the PT demo because I need space on my PS4. BTW, I'm still playing on that PS4. That leaf blower just won't die. If I still had it installed I could sell my first gen PS4 for like a grand.
A lot of the problems from MvCI stemmed from things like having basically all non-MCU characters being cut, bad single player with laughable story, moving from 3v3 to 2v2 gameplay, really bad art style and graphics compared to other games like DragonBall FighterZ coming out shortly after. It was just a big shot in the foot from capcom.
I had a hilarious glitch in CP 2077 where the game swapped "the chip" in Jackie's head with a gun, so he just had a barrel sticking out of his forehead 😂
I had that glitch too and it was weird and funny
The inclusion of the Calisto Protocol on this list caught me by surprise. It stands out to me because it wasn't trying to be Dead Space. It's an easy 8.5/10 and I hope a sequel's in the works.
Day's Before has a good concept I'd totally play a Escape from Tarkov type game with zombie's or some type of Bio Chemical creatures and looting for weapons, schematics and items that help progress but also give you an advantage in higher risk area's.
But yeah PT was a majot disappointment i would have loved to see Guillermo Del Toro's take and vision to the Silent Hill franchise.
Having a game called infinite and the character roster being the smallest it's been compared to any other sequel was probably the largest letdown. With any fighting game you always have to do bigger and better. Otherwise, you have to completely reinvent yourself to justify the sequel in fighting games
Marvel vs Capcom Infinite was a total disappointment they had less characters
Yeah the roster was not as good as 2 or hell even 3 😒
As someone who never played Dead space, Calisto Protocol was an awesome banger to play
Whats crazy is I didn’t really have any game breaking bugs on cyberpunk for ps4 when it first released, the game wasnt all that bad for me and I really enjoyed every bit of it, it would crash every once in awhile but usually it was saved before i lost anything
Personally wouldn't say SS was disappointing simply cuz never had any expectations even when it was first announced
My gf and I are fighting and I was waiting for the first video by gameranx to cheer me up. But two of them? Just what I needed
All I can say is thank you guys and love your videos.❤️
Yes, how dare this ONE GAME not have the same amount of memorable characters and worlds as the TRILOGY that preceded it. How dare.
I'd add two things about this generation: the rough start, with most people not able to get them (even desconsidering world's situation at the time) and specialy the price hike. It's harder to justify buying a new AAA game. The good part is the push for smaller budget projects, more good games on the spotlight
I’d say R6 Quarantine is an honourable mention here. Felt like not much more than a cash grab as soon as it was announced with it cashing in on Siege’s peak in hype with what played like a glorified game mode. They charged full AAA price for this too. It fell off almost instantly after release as well, from memory at least
Yeah I tried it once never again
R6S honestly was too, not sure if you remember but the game looked so good during the announcements but when it came out it was kinda just eh, and then ubisoft made it worse and worse.
