Oh my goodness! I can't stop laughing 😭😭😭 my stomach hurts!!!!! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 Absolutely hilarious!!!!!!!! I can only imagine how you jumped! I'm so sorry to laugh but the same thing happened to my niece! 😂🤣
Barn owls actually use that screech to scare stuff into running away, making it so they can spot their prey easier. So they don't really need to be stealthy.
Lol. I've heard the first call and figured it was some sort if owl but didn't know what kind. The second call I had no idea was the same bird. Been trying to figure out what flies around my yard at night for a year! Finally I know!
@@jasonreyna7615 Barn owls should ne considered good luck, they eat rodents like popcorn. Old barns here in Europe sometimes have small windows with landing boards for them, to encourage barn owls to make their nests in the building and keep the farm area free of mice. That's why they're called barn owls.
I got one I'll be dammed if I can find it though the sound seems to come from one direction then when u get there it sounds like another...sounds like a babe cos it's screaming every 20 mins...first I thought a teridactil had woke up
For months I've been hearing this awful screaming coming from the woods whenever I sit outside to smoke in the evening and it always scares the living daylights out of me and ruins the mood a bit let's say 😅 so it's a massive relief to learn it's just a bloody barn owl
One night i had a lot of heavy sorrow in my heart over a girl i liked (and later married, thank God) , i decided to go off by myself to cry and pray to God about the situation, to pour my heart out to my Jesus in private. Anyways i was walking alone on trails in a massive forested park, at around 1am, i was already very on edge and every little crackle made me spin and my heart race... my deep sorrow helped me to forget some of my fear however,..then as i was walking along trying to find a place with a view of the valley where i would pray... once again a wave of fear came upon me.... i proceeded cautiously... suddenly maybe no more than 50 feet away i hear a heart wrenching scream, it sounded like the mixture of a woman and a pig being butchered...like a banshee might sound i imagine, and it was louud.... i nearly soiled myself...
Beautiful animals! Haven’t seen one here in years but I still hear that shriek piercing through the dark on summer nights. No one believes me when I say that’s a barn owl sound; they insist it’s a screech owl (or, in local vernacular, a ‘scritch’ owl). Fun fact: like many species of owls, barn owls mate for life, i.e. they stay with one mate forever, whereas many other animals mate with a new mate every season.
Hey there! Could you please tell us the source of the sounds? It sounds like those from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology - is that where you found them? Handy vid
Been hearing this near my house a few times, I thought it was a pueo (Hawaiian owl) but I found out that there are also these barn owls that are introduced and while they didn’t scare me, it was still a bit unsettling 😂.
I'm so glad I found the sound I always hear at night when I go outside. I first thought it could be a bat but this is the same exact sound I hear and after the screams comes the chirping. Relieved!
I'm high af rn and I turned up my volume to max with headphones hoping to hear a soothing Who sound and I get blasted eith the most reched screech I've ever heard
I had my window cracked open tonight and I heard that first screech repeatedly for probably two minutes with the second sound as well (maybe a second owl responding. I thought it was a frog or something.), and I was legitimately shaking with adrenaline trying to figure out what that was. I decided it was probably some sort of bird based on how it sounded as I listened more closely, and it makes sense bc my neighbors are farmers and have open sheds where they could roost, but that was terrifying. Never leaving my window open at night ever again. (Btw, I found this by looking up basically "bird screaming sounds", and barn owl matched perfectly)
We thought someone was being murdered. My wife jumped up to the window one night followed by me to see what the noise was. We saw nothing but realised it was a bird after it continually happened night after night. Found this video to confirm what the culprit was. What a beautiful bird with a frightening vocal.
Heard a whole group of barn owls outside my house. Sounded like an aztec death whistle. Im in a heavily trafficked area of the chicag burbs, scared the shit out of me.
The second call is the nesting call to the mate. The male does this to entice the female to the nest. He does it endlessly, throughout their life. It's ear splitting.
Oh my god, I finally found what that noise was! I stayed at my grandparent's house for a week and a half over the summer last year, and they live on a farm. Sometimes kinda late at night I would hear this horrible SCREECHING noise coming from their old barn. I would run inside and ask them what it was, and my grandma would always respond with "oh, that's just the owls, they like to hang out in there sometimes". But it didn't sound like an owl to me and it absolutely terrified me. I've been trying to figure out what kind of owl it was and I finally found it! Jesus christ who knew those little birds could be so horrifying.
I went camping as a kid and was already freaked out by my big brothers telling ghost stories then when I was trying to sleep I heard this unearthly screech and saw this creature from hell, and I think I lost all my bodily fluids. My wonderful brothers tease me about it to this day. 😳
I think i figured out what ghost really are. Imagine walking at night in a forest when you hear a barn owl screaming like a banchee then it swoops right past you. And all you see is a quick white blur. You'd think its a ghost
Is this animal or record scratcher with such ear piercing screech? Also their babies for some reason look ugly and terrifying, possibly because the face is identical heart shape while rest of the body looks skinny and looks like something from body horror.
Bro I was watching a scary movie and when I heard the noise I thought it was from the movie so I replayed that bit and there was no scream, then I paused the movie to think and I heard it again. Bro I shat myself. I honestly thought skinwalkers were a thing bro.
finaly i found out what that sound is (first call) the first time i heard it i was having a campfire with a group in the woods evryone was so scared so me and a buddy went out to find out what it was when we came close it sounded like it came high out of a tree but we didn't saw anthing it got louder and louder so we went back and told the group we didn't know what it was and evryone wanted to go home now that i know its kinda funny how 10 poeple got scared and went home early because a owl was looking for a mate 😂
I was just 5 min ago smoking a cigarette in my backyard, admiring the beautifull star covered nightsky , it's 3am pitch black no lights, and suddenly got blasted with what I thought was some sodomizing predatorial alien's meal call, from a shed 5m away from where I was standing... I'm relieved it's just an owl, and I've survived this event but can't say the same for my underware... Oh the blood has come back to my face aswell... WTH
I could never have been prepared for those 520000 decibals of noise blasted into my eardrums
Oh my goodness! I can't stop laughing 😭😭😭 my stomach hurts!!!!! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 Absolutely hilarious!!!!!!!! I can only imagine how you jumped! I'm so sorry to laugh but the same thing happened to my niece! 😂🤣

Owls: Stealthy creatures of the night
Also owls:
Well the barn owl makes an exception i guess
Barn owls actually use that screech to scare stuff into running away, making it so they can spot their prey easier. So they don't really need to be stealthy.
So peaceful to my ears
Especially that first one!
WHY AM I WATCHING THUS I'M SCARED OF OWLS EXCEPPLY BARN OWLS😭😭
Just heard this outside my damn house and nearly went out with my gun ready to shoot a demon
Lol. I've heard the first call and figured it was some sort if owl but didn't know what kind. The second call I had no idea was the same bird. Been trying to figure out what flies around my yard at night for a year! Finally I know!
Most likely heard it flying overhead or flying close by. In South Texas this is normal, but we don't trust barn owls (lechuasas)

From the movie, "My Cousin Vinnie". I still laugh every time I see it.

This just confirmed the one behind my house that nearly made my hair fall out last night. That call… wow!
I got one I'll be dammed if I can find it though the sound seems to come from one direction then when u get there it sounds like another...sounds like a babe cos it's screaming every 20 mins...first I thought a teridactil had woke up
They always show up at my backward and i love it!
I’ve been hearing the first call every night outside of my window, I had no clue what it was, now I do ❤
Foxes screech like that too!
Same, this is what I hear every day and night outside my apartment.
The second call is my favorite. I think it's my cat's, too.
The second call has confirmed! I saw and heard it yesterday and today it came back with a partner! They are such beautiful birds
Not if they are next to your home
Jesus that was some noise 😂. Even my dog gave me a disgusted look and walked away from me.
That would scare the shhhh out of you if you were alone camping at night.

The second call 😂 they wanna be crickets
Yes ikr 😂
Even though I searched for this sound, I was not prepared for this sound 😳😂
I heard this before sunrise and thought it was an artifical sound it was so crisp and LOUD By the time I grabbed my camera to video it- it was gone.

Employee: Hi welcome to McDonald’s how may I help you this evening?
Barn Owl: REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Just heard this screech when I got home this evening, Barn owls must be working undercover tonight😂
Well, that explains why I wasted my time drawing my sword think a Ringwraith was outside. It was a screech of a barn owl this entire time.
I think some juvenile barn owls live near my house, I swear I can hear them every night…
The inspiration for the death whistle.
Really Beauty !!!
One of the best looking owls!
Been hearing this near my house a few times, I thought it was a pueo (Hawaiian owl) but I found out that there are also these barn owls that are introduced and while they didn’t scare me, it was still a bit unsettling 😂.
My fav owl!
Amazing call

I was walking across campus at 10 pm and saw/heard this owl for the first time. Scared the life outta me 🦉
Sounds like an aztec death whistle
Where i come from (Serbia), poeple believe that if you hear this sound near where you live it means someone will die soon.
Awesome . Thanks for sharing & Big Like
The ghost of the farm

First call sounds akin to a "death whistle" used in paranormal research
0:14 Damn the universe for making us so cute!!!
Man just heard the eeyou eeyou sound at 4am thought I discovered new monster glad after searching half hour I finally got criminal
good lord
Unexpectedly horrifying

What's the difference between the three sounds?
I had my headphones at full volume while sitting next to someone else, jeez I’m so sorry to that person
Heard a whole group of barn owls outside my house. Sounded like an aztec death whistle. Im in a heavily trafficked area of the chicag burbs, scared the shit out of me.
Best Barn Owl sounds I've heard! About licensing, are those sounds Creative Commons? Do you sell some kind of sound packages?
I have heard these exact sound clips fron the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. Not sure why they aren't credited
@@Dani-Claw do you know if their sounds are free to use? Or if they sell them? I'm needing a barn owl sound to use on a game I'm making.
I had to look up some owl sounds for an assignment and I thought it was going to be peaceful was not expecting this
I hear one of these by me every night when i am outside working on my car.
They looked pretty cute though 🤣
Shreeks of warning and then maybe delight! Not quite what I was expecting..."wh wh who" is what I can hear around the barn...must be a pidgeon.
I use this when the birds in my neighbor’s trees are too happy
oh good, I thought it was an alien.
The owls are not what they seem
what do u mean>?
@@lucy.jba5It all cannot be said aloud now.
You can see where stories of Banshees and scary things in the forest originated!

I heard this last night and ran in the house... now i feel silly lol

It’s assumed now that the screeching of the banshee was almost entirely based upon hearing the cries of the barn owl.
Thanks for this i keep having to play thia to scare pigeona away feom nwsting in my chimney
I went on a walk with my boyfriend, and heard the first call and we immediately turned around bc that scared the Jesus out of us 😂
Twany owl: Twit twoo
Barn owl: RHRHRHEHHEEHEHHWHWHWHWHWHWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
just heard this bastard outside my window, cool
Just heard it outside of my house, and i thought first it was a human scream
Turned the sound all the way up for a second then I was like: actually, I would like to be able to have ears 😃
I hear these outside at night in my neighborhood.
Holy fuck I've only heard this noise once and i swore Satan himself was punishing me for my arrogance going into the forest at night
I think i figured out what ghost really are. Imagine walking at night in a forest when you hear a barn owl screaming like a banchee then it swoops right past you. And all you see is a quick white blur. You'd think its a ghost

I listen to this to try and figure out if the thing screaming outside my window at was a barn owl… I’m pretty sure it is
