I'm pretty sure everyone knows that it's harder to get up there without a running start, and on paper, the standing honey dip was probably the most impressive dunk. But all that does is show that j clark has crazy hops, and dunking is about a lot more than just vert. It was impressive, but not super exciting. I mean, I can do a standing honey dip on an 8 ft rim, there's no technique or difficulty involved other than just jumping really high.

That standing vertical dunk, I can dig that. I want to see more of that in contests. Maybe like a mandatory dunk.
I personally don't like anything being "mandatory" in a dunk contest. Anything that kills creativity is a no in my book. Let the dunkers do what they're good at. Anything off vertical would favor the taller dunkers, and be horrible for dunkers under 6ft
Dunkademics 2 Yea def get what you're saying. I had just got done watching a bunch of vertical leap videos, n there was a lot of controversy over what their true verticals were. One was claiming a 60", but he never jumped straight up. You're right tho, can't kill creativity w mandatory dunks, especially if it puts shorter guys at a disadvantage.
