    • TS2 & TS3 : Family drama naturally occurred without my input through the gameplay.
    The only thing I orchestrated were ; Ferdinand's remarriage (TS3) &
    the fighting scene (TS3)
    • TS4 : No family drama occurred during my gameplay
    • TS3 : Children who haven't spoken to a parent for a while might get the
    ''wants daddy/mommy's attention'' want
    • TS4 : Family member can call to gossip about family. Also I remember children sometimes running to hug their parents after work & sims often thinking about their relatives (around 2017 when Parenthood first came out) but I couldn't witness any of that in my recent gameplay.
    • There's also baby shower parties (Growing Together)

Sims 2 definitely won this one with the memories, wants and fears, and autonomous interactions. However Sims 3 did have generations (best ep in the franchise imo) which really added so much stuff to the family gameplay in general that makes it good in its own ways, plus there's the extra family relationships. Plus in both of these games, every sim can have a unique personality unlike Sims 4 so the family gameplay is a lot more interesting in those games.

@@pascalfernandes6957 Sims 4's Wants and Fears and Memories are vastly inferior to Sims 2's, in Sims 4 the wants are just a reskin of whims (which were pretty bad) and fears don't even tie to personalities so your Sims just end up getting random fears that might not make sense. Plus the memories don't really do much other than giving your Sims a specific emotion, whereas in Sims 2, they could change how your Sim reacts or interacts with something.

Reading skill books to kids in 3 actually teaches them the skills from the book. I end up using them the most for that reason.
Its not just nurturing sims who can ground kids. Its all sims. Its actually a bit excessive from my experience.
In The Sims 2, children can be encouraged by to pursue certain activities related to a parents personality points. For instance, sims who are neat can encourage neatness in the child and they will do a neat activity right after.

I have not moved on to TS3 yet in the video, because I have to point out that in TS2, other factors have varying results in family dynamics and there are quite a few: Personalities, Aspirations (Primary and Secondary); Interests; Wants/Fears, Turn ons/offs (T+); Hobbies, Skills; Life Skills; Careers and Business Levels; Relationship Scores (remember, they can also be one-sided); Needs/Motives (this includes Environment bar: which does carry a heavy weight for overall mood and aspiration bars, as well as Social, if too low can bring forth the Social Bunny); Aspiration bar (if low can bring forth the therapist, or cause a T+ sim to go into Aspiration failure, or a Todd/CH sim to have a tantrum or taken away by Social Worker); Fury (TS2:NL); Sibling Rivalry; Gossip; Pet Ownership (along with all their personalities and behaviors); Occult and Hybrids; Vacation Perks; Business Perks; Aspiration Perks (TS2:FT) and Rewards; Career Rewards; Outing/Dating Scores (TS2:NL); Season (TS2:S): Winter: Family Relationships increase faster, "Encourage" interation has more success, Spring: Romantic interactions succeed more, and Romantic Relationships increase faster, Summer: Friend Relationships increase faster, Autumn/Fall: Skilling, Career Advancing (including leveling up businesses [TS2:OFB]), School Studies (including Uni [TS2:U]), are all accellerated (including the gains from the "Encourage" interaction, Homework Help, Tutoring, etc.), Badge earning is also increased, etc.; Reputation (TS2:AP); Magic (TS2:AL) and the beast that captures it all (although only the most momentous might be recorded here, every detail is in sims memories, as can be seen in SimPE).
I likely did forget a few, but TS2's Personality System is the most in-depth System out of all the mainline games. Although in TS1, sims can evolve multi-directionally, TS2 not only enhanced upon it, they added so much more depth, that every single sim is completely unique from one another.
I also have to point out a few aspects that you missed: 1) Toddlers (depending upon personalities), can ask for attention from family, household members, even strangers. Toddlers can dance to the stereo or musical instruments playing, watch TV with those watching (or even watch video gameplay by others). You might find them to be clingy to a parent, but trust me, if use the "ask for attention from" interaction enough, Toddlers will autonomously do so on their own (again, it is dependent on personality). If you have toddlers around other toddlers, they can fight over bottles, and can play with toys with other Todd+ (this works at a faster pace if Todd has learned to talk). In my opinion, TS2 Todd are even better than TS3/4's Todd.
As for Children, there are added features that add to every family dynamic, playing tag with family, along with many Child only games, plus tossing footballs, baseballs, playing redhands, etc. with any CH+ family, friends and strangers. They can perform headstands, cartwheels and somersaults autonomously or player directed, if successful onlookers will cheer, if unsuccessful, they might boo (depending on personalities, aspirations, interests and relationship levels.
Teens can give siblings (and other teens) noogies. You did mention the "ask permission to go out," but I wanted to add, that teens can ask this of any A+ living in the home, so if the T's relationship with Granny is higher, they can just ask her. They also can "sneak out," by using the phone, or accept if a friend or love interest calls them by phone. If caught before leaving house, they will be autonomously lectured by the A+ who catches them, and if not the parent, may be lectured again by them. It is similar if they are caught afterward, and returned by the police, which if there is an A+ Sim awake, they will likely be lectured, by them, but in this case, at least one parent will always awake, and hence could inevitably be another duo-lecture. Also, you did mention running away, but there are a few ways that could play out. If you call the police (the sooner the better), they will attempt to return the missing T, if you wait too long, or fail to call the police, the missing T will likely return on their B-day (this will most often result in their autonomous age up, without being able to send them to college). Like its successors, T can get part-time jobs to help the family out, but if their grades slip too far, they will be fired from their jobs. Also, the only way to get to the YA stage is to send T off to uni (TS2:U). Which has an amazing cutscene when you place them, and the parent/guardian with the highest relarionship score will be the one to drop said T off at college, and get to see them age up.
The family can call the YA to visit, and vise-versa. This is where I want to point out Family Outings and Vacations. With the exception of B/Todd, you can actual have Family Outings (scored or just for fun) and Vacations (up to 8 Sims), even if the family resides outside the home (i.e. Uni, another lot). These are great ways to build up the family dynamics (again, depending on personalties, aspirarions, interests, etc.).
Lastly, you know how you pointed to the Grandmom running out of the room when the fight occured? Well, Grandmom is likely a Family Sim or is shy, or both. This will be different with G'moms with different personalities. Pretty cool, eh? Overall, there is so much more that I did not cover, but after finishing up the video, I do not think TS3, nor TS4 will sway me, TS1 family dynamics is second to none❣👏

    • @TheMya1988
      @TheMya1988 Před 7 dny +2

I stand by my vote for TS2, which you actually used a word that I choose to reiterate, TS2 is the most "Organic," out of the 3❣
While I also love playing TS3, as well, the direction away from all the aforementioned I stated in my prior post, especially with the introduction of Traits, just broke the uniqueness that its predecessor has.
TS4, requires one to own every piece of DLC, and is still missing key elements.
Also, I wanted to let you know, that TS2, somewhere in a DLC introduction or patch, broke the family tree (not its structure, but recognizing certain relatives). Grandparents (especially with the Family aspiration), I think still do get the want for great grandchildren and great grandbabies, and they are fulfilled. I know it is a minor inconvenience, but mods can easily fix family flags. It does not bother me that a Mother/Father can swoon over her son/daughter inlaw or vice versa, or daughter/son with their inlaw (as that does happen irl, as well). TS3 went way too far, in that step siblings (even if become step siblings, living apart), cannot continue to act romantically if their parents get married, I just change that with NRaas mods.
The reason I point that out, is I have 2 friends who met at college, and fell in love, whilst both their parents (both widowed), met each other whilst visiting. My friends have been married for over 10 years, and their parents married before they married (it only gets weird when children are born, but since the parents can no longer have kids, what is the harm?).
With lifestates that could inevitably live forever, i.e. Vampires (TS3 needs the Immortal LTR), I suppose they had to cut the coding off for family recognition somewhere.
Which brings me to a funny irl story. When I was a teen, my double 2nd cousin (our grandparents were 2 brothers who married 2 sisters, making our bloodlines as close as 1st cousins), asked me out on a date (neither of us knew we were cousins, and had not seen each other since we were young children). Luckily, I was good friends with his girlfriend at the time, thinking it too weird, I told him nicely that I would not feel comfortable. I told my friend about this, and she told me that I should go out with him, they were still friends, just not romantically compatible (she had even suggested to him asking me out). I told my younger sister, but she blabbed to my mom, who asked for the boy's name, after saying his last name, she screamed, "that's your cousin!" When I revealed the news to him, we both had a good laugh, but thereafter, anytime we ran into each other, it was awkward.

Example, made a family where the young adult was actually the oldest sibling taking guardianship of the younger ones right off the bat. No need to make the parents. It was fun for headcanon reasons. But it fell back into what I didn't like about Sims 2 in terms of travelling to different places (Sims 4 at least gave you tbe option of what your sim could do in another location).
With that being said, will always says Sims 3 is the best. If for anything, the introduction of Story Progrssion. Yes, it has its bugs, but it was cool to actually have Sims in the world grow old, have families, get engaged, etc.

      1. My game is extremely broken (it's vanilla)

The Sims 2 wins hands down! The reactions, interactions, the whole memory system as well as wants and fears work together to make the game fun. Plus it is all in base game.
Sims 3 has a little more detail in mixed family trees (they also recognize half siblings and step siblings) but I think Generations improved the family dynamics a lot from the base game. Some interesting things yes, but a lot of Sims 2 autonomous interactions make family gameplay seem organic than Sims 3.

Everything makes so much sense when you discover that TS4 were supposed to be an online multiplayer game! I mean, why putting so much detail in an online multiplayer RPG, the characters development wouldnt be relevant. And that explain a lot of downgrades appart from characters behaviours. TS4 is 10yo now, it really is a shame that EA stayed on the plain smooth characters made for multiplayer game, they could have added so luch things with the multitude of packs, or even in basegame with all the updates they make. Maybe they had put all the bet on the personality traits to not concentrate on the details of the game, but that's too bad. I really hope TS5 will bring back all the small details that gave life to Sims and their world!

I love that the parents can discipline in different styles and different types of relationships which can make them unique. I also love the little details like toddlers finding out what food they like. The kids coming to wake up parents in the middle of the night feels so more real than the other packs.
