Sims Babysitter Comparison
Sims 2
In The Sims 2, Nannies were introduced in the base game. A Nanny can be called to come over one time, or to track the schedule of an adult. Sims 2 Nannies were always female elders. Their job is to take care the needs of the young ones. Nannies will empty the potty, put a child to sleep, feed the young ones, change their dirty diaper and bathe them, clean after them, and many other things. Some nannies are more responsible and up to task than others. Some nannies would slack off more. Are so careless that they can steal from your money tree, pee themselves and believe it or not, even start a fire. You can socialize with the Nanny and even become friends, or try to, you can tip her, dismiss her for the day or fire her.
Sims 3
You can also call a babysitter in The Sims 3, to take care of your young ones. Unlike The Sims 2, Nannies in The Sims 3 are random teens from the town you live in. They can be male and female.
Babysitters in The Sims 3 can't track your work schedule. You can call them upfront. they have a standard fee of §75. Babysitters take care of your children. They'll feed them, change their diaper, play with them, which they very much enjoy doing. But I've noticed they won't do much until your kid has a really low need. You can interact with them. You can't tip them, but you can dismiss or fire them.
Some of the babysitters might have kleptomaniac trait, meaning they could steal something from your house.
Sims 4
In The Sims 4, Nannies were not initially part of the base game. They were added in an update in 2016. Before the update, when left alone, children were automatically sent to daycare. This way they aren't able to build any skills. After their parents came home, the children were brought back.
You can call a nanny over the phone. The babysitter will come right over. Nannies are random young adult, adult, or elder townies. Their job is to take care of the young ones. a very good care. Nannies will feed them, change their diaper, put them to sleep, cook meals, tidy up the house.
You can socialize with them, even too much.. you can also tip them, you can also dismiss or fire them.

Yeah, they just won’t stop cooking 8-portions meals, while ⅔ of my families are vampires, what am I supposed to do with all of that food now ? (That’s why I rarely call for them, or if I do, I make sure the toddlers keep them busy 😂)

In The Sims 3 you can become a babysitter yourself as an active career that came with the generations. I thought it was worth mentioning :D.
It's not an active career I've played TS3 for years and there's no way to follow them to work like you're suggesting.

My favorite thing about sims 2 nannies is when your sim gets a promotion and the nanny that is scheduled to your work hours doesn't show up. So your sim refuses to leave their kid alone at home forcing you to miss the car pool while calling for a new nanny to babysit. Then you have to wait an hour for the nanny to show up, making your sim an hour late to work. Then once your sim is finally at work, the ORIGINAL nanny shows up on the OLD work schedule so now you have TWO nannies on your lot fighting over the same kid not getting any actual work done because of the constant task hogging. Thus the kids needs plummets leading to a visit from the social worker...

To be fair, any sim that is in the same house as a baby or a toddler in Sims 2 will constantly try and give it bottles every 2 minutes

I started referring to my nannies as fail nannies. I had one once that kept taking the baby out of the crib, turn around and put her back in. Twice she changed her diaper when she hadn't pooped. She did this until she herself pissed herself.
Best one had to be the nanny that kept trying to feed a toddler but the toddler was much more tired than hungry and would not eat and be fussy. I turned the fridge around so she'd stop taking bottles out. Nanny finally got a brainstorm and took the toddler to the potty! Toddler didn't need to potty and is still fussing that she's tired. Kid finally fell asleep on the floor in the kitchen while I'm sitting there thinking how much I hate the frickin' nanny!
Idk how they program the Nannie’s, but I wish they would make it so when a sim comes over as a nanny, they will only do actions having to to with taking care of the child and house. I also wish they would program it so certain things are prioritized. For example, the nanny will tidy the house, but not before taking care of the child’s needs and lower needs will be attended to first.
This! Every nanny I call will sit there and bake cakes (or start baking 5 and just leave cutting boards everywhere) or just stand around so when I come back inside from doing my farming chores all my kids needs are in the red. It’s maddening!

there was this one time i was playing the sims 2 and hired a nanny. When my sim came home, the nanny was in the middle of an interaction with the toddler, ended up carrying it and never letting go of it. I literally couldn't get the nanny to let go of the toddler and she walked away with my sim's child in her arms... That nanny kidnapped my sim's kid and from that point on i had to cancel the service and told one of my sim to quit their job. Never trusted that service again (i don't remember what the town name was called), i was too scared to call for another nanny after that.
The weird thing was the kid was still on the sidebar and still in the family tree, I'm pretty sure it was a glitch.

this happened to me in the sims 3 lol but my toddler actually disappeared from my family but not from my family tree. I found her (as a child already) following my other kid to school and cheated her back in my family

I’ve litterally never had a nanny set the house on fire in like all the family rotations I’ve done in Sims 2… or had them pee in the floor to be honest. I’ve even had them make cookies and pies for the family. They still suck at childcare sometimes tho. But they all do (Sims 2-4). Then again, so do Sim parents who think every cry is for a bottle even when the kid just needs to be changed.

I always appreciate that you try to make your sims wear the same clothes and have the same layout and house in your comparison videos. It is strangely satisfying. Like making a house you know in real life.
I once had to hire a babysitter in the Sims 3 and the piece of crap just watched TV the whole time, the only way I knew what was going on was because I got a notification that my child was going to get taken away if I didn't care for her. I got back immediately, fired him, saw that he stole my toilet and set his house on fire. Anyways, The Sims is a great game!

My nannies were always lazy. Swimming in my pool, dancing to the music on my radio. The child's needs were in the red before they actually responded. Then they'd leave my baby in the high chair till someone got home lol
I've hired a bunch of nannies in Sims 3 for my toddler and they are USELESS. Literally NEVER interacted with my crying child even when his needs were in the red and instead opted to play piano (very horribly), do their homework or watch TV. I got a few social services threat popups from his needs being too low and when my Sims came home from work they still have the nerve to charge me as if they've done something

The Sims 2 nannies would drive me crazy. Because their skills were filled and I didn't have to worry about them falling in love, I would always have my Sim befriend Big Foot and bring him home. He got to live comfortably but he became the nanny! 😁He was great with kids.

The autonomous nannies/babysitters of all the Sims basically universally suck. 😂😂 I do think twins throw them off a bit. I had a Sim in Sims 2 who I made really good friends with the Nanny and they will do things like make pie and cookies. He almost always came home to cookies. You also need them for children when you leave the house in Sims 2 if your kids get home before you are off work, setting ‘track schedule’ means they will be there when the kids get home. But they pretty much mostly sit in the house, eat your food, and watch TV.
I had to build a wall around my sims baby one time. The nanny try to take the baby in the car with her as she left. I am guessing it was bug.

@@katk.4173lol, never had that happen. Nannies/Babysitters have pretty much been equally bad/good across all the games. But the Sims 2 nannies sometimes became annoying because once I didn’t need them anymore, they would continue calling my kids/teens on the house phone like they were best buds and it’s like ‘no old lady you can’t talk to my 8 year old or teenage son’ but technically the game had built a friendship meter up during child care.
None of them win. The nannies suck. TS4 nannies are probably the best, but I usually just send my kids to daycare for free. I mean...it's FREE.

I've had fairly good luck with Sims 4 nannies especially if there is a more verbal toddler who can give the nanny some commands and keep them on their toes. They can become glitchy around the infants especially if there is more than one.
I find most times they are good and some times they are not so good. But often they will start a fire when cooking.

Adeepindigo has a mod for Sims 4 called Education Overhaul, which allows toddlers to be sent to preschool. If there are no teen or older Sims at home a nanny will have to be hired or the sim would have to be sent to daycare once they come home from preschool.

I used to play Sims 3 and I got bored after a while. But when I bought a Mac, I couldn't download Sims 3. I started Sims 4. I'm looking forward to Sims 3. It will remain my favorite game. :(
A few months ago, I tried a babysitter for my infant daughter in The Sims 4. The babysitter kept playing with her, but never fed her, and rarely changed her diaper ! I didn’t realize until I got the notification that I was going to lose my baby if her needs reached that low again. I fired the babysitter, and switched to a freelance job, my baby never had low needs ever again.
I remember playing the sims 3 with nanny and i re-call it being NOT to bad. Yes it MAY have had its funny quirks and mess ups here or there but Sims 3 with nanny was at leaste worked ok
Compared to Sims 4 when we all got that nanny update. At first it was ok bu then later on it began to have issues. Like some times the nanny would NOT tend to a child or baby then the nanny would NOT do other things such as nit clean the place as stated she or he could do.
Sometimes the nanny would NOT leave when asked. I remwmber trying to get my nanny to leave in sims 4 cause she would NOT do ANYTHING and I just could NOT get her or him to LEAVE my sims house. The nnanny would just stan there in place. It was soooo annoying.

At tge time and play AGAIN. That uodate for sim4 with nanny being for rhe base game had ALOT of problems and still does. If my sims have children i don't bother callung a nanny anymore. I just skill up my parent sims best as I can so they CAN take care of their own child or children. So yeah, that is another update that NEEDS to be fixed. So to that extent ,
I would have to go with sims 3 for nanny as winner because like i said before, it MAY have a few issues but at leaste it actually works ! For what it is. Ty for posting.👍✌
Most of the Nannys/Babysitters are an equal level of bad and equal level of good. Their AI is about as good as Sim parent AI, no better or worse. But because you can’t control them when it seems like they are ‘neglecting the baby’ it stands out. Everything you said can be applied to both Sims 2 and Sims 4 nannies for the most part when they are functioning. The Sims 4 nannies just had more bugs because they were an after thought as Sims 4 has magical rabbit-hole day care.
When Sims 4 nannies aren’t in an arrival loop, they function about as well as the other two.

If I have a loaded household with 5 sims, I always hire a nanny to help with taking care of the kids so I can just take care of the adult sims
Nah I just use plumbots for that. No need to pay a fee of 75 simleons every time, just the plumbot cost. They aren't worse, and you can control them if necessary

Nannies in the sims 2 always annoyed me for the reasons shown in this video, the pissing part especially. For some reason, they would refuse to pee even though there was an available toilet. There was also one nanny that kept coming back even after I fired her or there was no one to babysit.

The sims 2 AI for sims was great. Nannies would do their job too well and constantly look after the kiddies autonomously and clean up. It’s a bit annoying but they mainly did their job. And the parents will not leave for work until a nanny comes.
whilst in sims 4 when the parents came home, the kids’ needs would be low and the nanny feeds themselves 5 times, leaving plates everywhere, breaks the computer and dumps the trash on the floor. Or they go overboard and constantly need to pick the baby up for no reason when they are trying to nap or get them out of the high chair immediately after setting food down! Why would we need to nanny the nanny??

When your sim parents come home from work tired, and they have to clean up the mess they left the toddler and the house in. In Sims 2 my toddler was left to play in toilet water all day the bathroom was flooded.
This is why I try to get my sim parents jobs with different work hours.

tbf in sims 4 pre 2016 there weren't even toddlers. There was the whole toddler update situation where every bloody tuning mod broke
The best Nanny out of all game is the Simbot from sims 3 with nurturing chip. I think low-key it's overpowered.

One problem i had with nannies in sims 2 is i accidentally had 2 nannies and telling the nannies to quit in person wasnt enough, so i ended up calling via phone to cancel schedule AND THATS WHAT I NEEDED TO DO.

I prefer nanny sims 3 because , I can do lots of things and it's vast. EA worked more on the other opuses of the sims 1-2-3 than the sims 4, that's what I criticized them for. But I like all the sims 4 opuses. My favorites are the sims 2-3. The Sims 4 makes us talk too much for us to have game play. if only for toddlers and infants. With generation and also sims store we had so much more choice in the sims 3. Thank you for your video it's always nice to see the old sims 3 opuses and see what was possible to do.
my favorite sims 4 save file is where a teenager is taking care of his baby sister, so obviously he had to have a nanny when he was going to school and she was still a toddler

In Sims 2, a message will also pop up before you leave if you haven't called a babysitter telling you to call one. Also, they can track your work schedule and be at your house every day right when you leave for work and they will leave once you've returned
