How come 90% of the parents in these kinds of videos look like they have never played a sport in their life???

Youth sports would be improved one million times over if parents were not allowed to attend.

Back in the late 70's-early 80's I umpired Little League/Senior League. I dreamed of doing just one game under those conditions.
Obnoxious parents were the main reason I got out of umpiring. Not that I couldn't deal with the leather-lunged Kens and Karens, but it ceased being fun...it's not as if I looked forward to banishing parents from the stands. And if something like that isn't going to be enjoyable, why bother?

I ran our local youth league sports for 7 years. Parents are by far the worst part of it. Take them out of the equation and youth sports are fun, rewarding and educational. The parents just ruin it on all levels.

I’ve coached youth football for many years , double edge sword with parents and you do get some idiots who have to be dealt with , but who are we to ban the majority of them from watching their kids at footy , they are not young for long and there are lots of memories being made that can never be replicated for the young and old to share , plus most kids thrive knowing their loved ones are there watching . I’ve seen it from the other side where after doing some great little move or score a goal they look around for mum / dad , so to ban the majority for the sake of the few is not the right way for me , and as a huge amount of games are played on public parks here in the uk its pretty unenforceable , You simply cannot ban well behaved parents from watching their kids not to mention parents simply not taking them anymore if it was to happen .

Not justifying parent behavior here at all, but the referee is wrong to do this. The IFAB does not give referees authority over spectators. ALWAYS speak to the coach about spectator behavior. Grassroots ref here

I agree that a referee should usually speak to a coach first, but we don't know that didn't happen here.

Meh. A while back, a D-1 college basketball ref ejected two fans for being complete and utter aszhats. Yeah, he technically should have went to the home team's management and have them removed (ref was 'reprimanded' for it), but worse take on it is he skipped a step on what was going to happen either way. The only reason they don't want refs to chuck people out is the concern that it might escalate the situation further.
In this instance, yes, the ref could have stopped play, walked over to the coach of the team, and told him he needs to throw the guy out, the coach walks across the field to throw him out, and the end result is the exact same. Except another 5 minutes of game time has been lost.

What's really a shame is that somebody who has never had any experience with youth sports would get a totally wrong impression from the admittedly entertaining videos.
My experience, both from umpiring youth baseball years ago, and from having my kid play youth sports, is that the vast majority of these parents are just fine, actually behave like civilized human beings at these games, and can be around the parents from the other team without all hell breaking loose.
Basically, it's about 10%-15% of the parents who treat these youth soccer matches like it's Man U. vs. City and behave like idiots. (Of course, that's a big enough segment of the parent population to ruin it for everybody, but still.....)
