American colleges are creating a dire situation for themselves. They have been trashing academic standard for years. Instead of selecting students based on standardized testing, they put emphasis on factors like college application essays, teacher recommendations and extracurricular activities which are totally irrelevant to academic potential. In addition, they create all kinds of quota which have nothing to do with academic potential such as racial quota, legacy preference quota and first generation college student quota etc. and etc. What have these to do with academic standard? Instead of educating the next generation, they are creating social problems for us. Congress should stop wasting money on these colleges immediately.
